Hello all,

I'm new to the board but not so new to Disney. I started later then most with my first trip to a Disney park when I was 26 years of age and have been hooked ever since. We've been visiting WDW almost every year since, sometimes 2-3 time each year. We also just completed our 6th Disney Cruise and try to cruise each year with Disney. In 2012 we became DVC members with Animal Kingdom as our home resort and last month just bought into the Grand Floridian too.

We are loving our trips with our two boys (8 and 10) and are looking for ways to enhance our trips and experience. Both my wife and I are turning 40, my wife this year and me next year. I'm looking for some help with ideas on how we can celebrate at Disney and how to take our visits to the next level.

Any suggestions would be very much valued.

I spent my 40th b-day at Disney :) It depends on what you're in to. I LOVE princesses... LOVE them. My DH even calls me "princess". princess:

We had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table and had a blast. It's a bit pricey, so we figured we'd do it once just to say we did, so we did it on my b-day. I had my 40th b-day photo taken with Cinderella. I probably looked like a dork fawning all over her, but I didn't care.

Whatever you do, you will have a fabulous time :)

I celebrated my 40th at WDW and had a FABULOUS time!

We had a bunch of extended family there for part of the trip and decided to really splurge ~ I figured that if I was going to turn 40 it would be in my favorite place and we were not going to hold back!

I booked the Grand I yacht for a fireworks cruise and had a birthday cake and champagne and juice boxes delivered and set up and waiting from private dining. It was the MOST wonderful night!

We were a group of 15, aging from 2 ~ 82, and it was perfect for everyone.

We had dinner at Whispering Canyon (one of our favorite places to eat. Decided on this over California Grill due to the number of small kiddos in our group) and then headed over to the Grand Floridian for the charter.

We left the dock about an hour prior to the fireworks and cruised around Bay Lake and the adjoining waterways and then pulled into our fireworks spot about 15 minutes prior to the start of Wishes. All charted boats get great views, but when the Grand is booked it gets the "prime" spot that is right in line with the castle. We opened gifts and then popped the cork on the champagne and we were eating cake as the first fireworks went off. The music is piped in over the speakers on the boat. It was truly a magical night. After the show we cruised around for about another 30 minutes and then docked back at the Grand Floridian.

There is a minimum booking time for the yacht during the day that, I believe, is still 2 hours. However, there is a different rate for the fireworks cruise that was a bit cheaper actually. For our cruise and dining extras it was about $500and I was able to book it at the 60 + 10 day mark since we were staying on property. This was a few years ago so things might have changed a bit.

If this is more space then you need, or a bit more of a splurge then you want, then a fireworks cruise on a pontoon boat from any of the MK resorts gets my second vote!

My 40th landed on a Disney Marathon, so I ran it. Afterwards toured Epcot with the kids and wife and ate dinner at Le Cellier. Awesome birthday, going to make it a bi-annual vacation.
