Turning 30 with the Mouse - 05/12/09 update

What a great writing skill you have! I am so loving this report!!

Love all the little detailed pics you took - I never yet have found that "singing in the rain" umbrella. I absolutely fell in love with the Osborne Family Lights.

I think it's great you went by yourself around Christmas time! I imagine it might get a little lonesome but what better place to be than with thousands of WDW fans and Mickey Mouse :santa:

Don't you just love the Boardwalk?!! I was there from 12/13-12/20/08 & stayed at BWV in a boardwalk room (the first 4 days I was solo and loved just enjoying each moment). The Boardwalk Inn rooms are absolutely beautiful (sure wish the Villas side would revamp theirs - I esp loved the beds & flat screen tv's in the Inn rooms).

When I first arrived they put me in room 2001 waaaayyy down by Jellyrolls (I had requested upper floor, close to elevators and large balcony hoping I'd get at lease ONE of my requests). I couldn't sleep at all the first night (even with the balcony doors closed, I heard the music & people laughing outside). So the next day they moved me to 3041 (both rooms were 1-bedroom villas) and this room was great - much closer to elevator plus one floor up but still small balconies. There was the magician below our room each night which was a blast to watch (mostly saw the crowd). I loved the piped in Christmas music and loved sitting on the balcony watching the boats come in and people watching!

Put me in the  column!

SAME with me...I never ever read, or listen to the news when I am in WDW. The world can be coming to a end, or America can be electing the WRONG man...and I wouldnt know a thing!;) ;)

:lmao:

THAT they isten too?:confused3 Go Figure.

That's the only thing they listen to me about.

Anticipating those Bday Calls, you didnt want????????:flower3:

More like calling people back home, while waiting in a line or something, and rubbing it in for where I was at. :teeth:

People LIE!!!! I too HATE HATE HATE being shot up into space on the cylander of DEATH!:scared1: That why I usually drive....or take lotsa lotsa XANAX!:hippie:

I don't do XANAX, but maybe I should. :confused3 My grandfather never flew a day in his life. If he couldn't drive; he wasn't going. During his life he went to all 48 continental United States and parts of Canada; but he would never fly anywhere. This year was my grandmother's first time to fly in her life and she is 78.

Cant wait to hear about this. I was 'suppose" to stay there last July...but wound up in SSR!:sad2:

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I remember that.. hey! did you ever finish your trip report? I remember a beginning but I don't recall an ending....

Yay!! We didn't get to see the Osborne lights. :( Lovely pics!!

Keep it up!!!

Dolce- I love your TR! popcorn::

The pics of the Osborne Lights are awesome. Now I want to go to WDW during Christmas. Just reading you descibe them playing Tran Siberian Orchestra is giving me goose bumps. :goodvibes

And I love Boardwalk! Did you know that Disney went to Atlantic City to study their boardwalk in the planning stages before they built it? It does remind me of Cape May and NJ shore. I've never seen the inside of the rooms though. Just walked around there.

Can't wait for more! :thumbsup2

That's why I posted large pictures, I wanted to attempt to give you guys the full effect. It's amazing to be there in person to see those lights. I loved it. Pictures can't do it justice.

Mahnahmahnah, you really should stay at the Boardwalk some time; it's fabulous! That will be the resort I stay at when I go to Disney from now on; I loved it!

That's too funny...I've been thinking the same thing!! I have that problem too, once I get there I'm clueless. ;)

We've been to the Red Robin and the place in Downtown Grapevine (I've forgotten the name) We'll be at the February one too. What part of town are you in? I'm right on the west side of the airport.

I was at the Red Robin meet but not the Downtown Grapevine one. I expect that I'll be at the Feb (I forgot that it's so soon) one but I need to check the date on that to be certain.

What a great writing skill you have! I am so loving this report!!

Thanks! :goodvibes I loved the Inn. I won't do DVC, even if I could buy points for the Boardwalk Villas, because I'm now spoiled and only want to stay on the Inn side. But then, if they ever decide to remodel the Villa side, maybe I could be tempted to buy in....

I loved sitting outside and crowd watching below. This was the first time that I was actually excited to return to my hotel room each day.
guess if you are old at 30 than at 51 my age I must be farting dust:scared: :lmao:
YES it is!:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I’m practically standing on the balls of my feet in anticipation for my room. Well, that and the counter is a bit high and I’m only 5’-3”.
!

which was a good thing as I was still standing there one hour later.

They did credit me $50.00 on my account as an apology for my having to wait.
:thumbsup2

Nope, not going anywhere. I’m moving in.
:lmao:

Yup.

You read that right.

I’m waiting in line for Toy Story Mania.

:scared1:

I guess this is the point where it is good to have somebody along with you....TO TALK YOU OUT OF THIS CRAZINESS!

You are a DISER dangit! Not a mere Tourist!:snooty:

It was right around this time that I had an Oh Crap! feeling.

I hadn’t written down my room number.

I didn’t know my room number.

It was going to be a fun night later if I couldn't figure out my room number.

Someday when you bring your kids...THIS IS PRECISELY WHAT THEY ARE GOOD FOR. They remeber room numbers & parking spaces!:thumbsup2

So, what do you do in a 2 ½ area queue when you have nothing to do?

1) Call your boss at work.

loser.gif

Sorry but someone had to post that smiley!

Almost three hours later I see IT. .
:scared:
faint.gif

You do realise that the Wisemen got to see baby Jesus faster then that!

And you know what? I thought the attraction was Eh?.

It actually is a fun ride...However remember the DisUnc Rule.....NOTHING BUT NOTHING is worth a 3 hour wait in line. Anything more than 20 minutes ruins the 'experience"...trust me...I never wait more than 20 mins for ANYTHING!:thumbsup2

So what’s a girl to do?

Shop!
:thumbsup2

Lovin the TR!:flower3:

and is that stage a permanent fixture at DHS or is this just a NYE thing? :confused3

Been there for the past two years !

Apparently every single person at Disney World for the past two months wanted one of the Minnie Santa hats also as it quickly became apparent to me that Disney was sold out for the season. :scared1: I had to settle for a Mickey Santa hat… and I believe that these sold out within the next day or so.

Pics??????:confused3

(I really like this fountain for some reason. I already have gazillion pictures of it yet I take more each time that I'm there :confused3

Me too! And everytime I go i swear that something is different about the fountain.

Star light star bright

On this glorious night

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT pics!:thumbsup2 I haven't seen the Osbourne Lights since 1999! It was a THRILL!:santa:

BTW.....Growing up in NYC, we always left Santa a pack of Smokes & a can of Schaffer by the window with the Fire Escape!:woohoo:

I turn and spot my favorite streetmosphere actors: The Hollywood Public Works.

:confused3 In all these years, and all the times I went to WDW, I have never saw or even heard of "The Hollywood Public Works."...until just now!:confused3

The stand-by line looked quite long and as sullen as the bellhop... all of the people were quite motionless, stopped still in their backed-up line as I flew past them all in the non-existent fast pass line. Looks of envy were flung my way as I happily hummed and skipped my way through the queue at a rapid pace.

This is when I like to

at the 'commoners"

I’m thinking that my room number ends in 19. I finally stop in front of the door to room 3219. It has a '3' and a '19' in it. Gotta be it - right? I hold my breath as I slip the key into the slot. A moment of nothing and then I hear a click and a green light flashes. Woo-Hoo! I found my room on the first try.

Everytime Dolce27 makes her room lock 'click' an Angel gets their wings!

I quickly unpack and set up a little “Christmas corner”.

From someone who is STILL DEChristmasizing...You did the RIGHT thing!
Maybe next year I will just have a 'Christmas Corner':rolleyes1

I’d wanted one of the pontoon boats and was disappointed when I wasn’t quick enough to nab one.
Did the pontoon boat in July!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Another diser arrainged it! But we were the ONLY ones there. Picked it up at the Yacht Club.

Some trip report..I loved all the details...And the pictures of the Christmas lights. I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Disney during Christmas but, well maybe some day.

I'm loving this btw.

DISUNC - where've you been? They are my absolute favorite! Is that green dye getting to you?

;)

So I did a search for "hottie, pantsuit lovin', flying solo, mega-rich dischick who's staying at the luxurious Boardwalk for 10 days, trip report"...... & it brought me here. :beach:

But even if you hate me and wish me to die a horrible and bitter death, there will be no politics in this trip report.

Can we discuss religion? :duck:

I was lucky if I had two avid readers on my last trip report. (Hi Hound. You better be over here. )

I'm still your groupie, Dolce......have always been a fan of irreverent, stream of consiousness type writing styles.....

.....that & you always wear funny hats. :)

Staying at a deluxe resort, they put the newspaper outside of your door each morning. It was all that I could do to not kick it as I left my room everyday. Who wants depressing news while at the Happiest Place on Earth? Seriously?

Me neither. In fact i haven't watched any news programs (at all) since May or June. (ignorance is bliss :)

I watched as he messed around with his cell phone and then put it into the pocket of the seat in front of him - still on. Everyone’s boarded and they come on with the instructions as we begin to pull away from our gate and make progress towards the runway. I’m looking out the window, trying to ignore the fact that he left his cell phone on. Especially when they get to the part about all electronics need to be turned off.

Ignoring… ignoring….

What if his phone causes the plane to crash?

Hey! Petrified person of flying here. Finally, not being able to take it anymore, I turn to …well, it was supposed to be a tap in the arm but it may have come out more towards a punch in the arm. He turns and looks down at me.

“Yes?”
“Your cell phone….”
He smiles. “It’s off.”
“Oh. OK.”

Back to minding my own business now. As long as it’s off and doesn’t cause the plane to crash… because if we start to go down and his phone is on and I determine that’s the cause of why we are crashing – he’s going to be praying that we hurry up and hit the ground after I’m done with him.

:rotfl: That's hilarious.....Dolce, you crack me up.

....while I’m standing in the middle of the walkway, becoming a barrier, looking stupid and confused while everyone else is passing on by.....

Hey.....do you ever go to DLR or WDW?? You sound like every third family that visits these magical places. ;)

Seriously, my room, from the elevator bank, was in EPCOT. Just past the Eiffel Tower in the French pavilion. I could yell down from my balcony to the bakery each morning and they’d toss a croissant up to me.

:rotfl2:

160 minutes. That’s just over 2 ½ hours. That’s not too bad. Right? Right?

Wrong.

That's two hours TOO long for Buzz 2.0. I like it.....but not as much as BTMRR (or the Matterhorn ;))

After all, this is a Disney theme park. This is a 10 year old boy singing about Hooters Girls. No one knows exactly how to respond at first.

I know someone who'd be laughing.......loud. :dogdance:

Great start to an epic Holiday Visit, Dolce. :cool1:

But this one may take awhile....it took me 2 months to finish up my ONE DAY report.....& you're twice as gabby as me. :lmao:

hound <----got the seat belt fastened....always a bumpy ride on Air Dolce. :goodvibes

I really love reading this thread, I'm new here. Hoping for more updates because I enjoyed it.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

You can discuss it. :teeth: I won't argue it like I do politics... I'll just tell you as it is. :p

:goodvibes I'll take that as a compliment and not a insult. :rotfl: Oh, and you (you Disneyland groupie, you) will be happy to know that my Disneyland hat, the exact same one that you saw (aka: read) me purchase last year at Disneyland (via my DL trip repot) does make a photo appearance in this WDW trip report.

:rotfl: That's hilarious.....Dolce, you crack me up.

I try to come off funny and not sound insane... but I think that I just come off as insane. I worry about me sometimes.

Hey.....do you ever go to DLR or WDW?? You sound like every third family that visits these magical places. ;)

Hey! I'm fine in the parks :snooty:, it's the airport that you need to worry about running into me at.

That's two hours TOO long for Buzz 2.0. I like it.....but not as much as BTMRR (or the Matterhorn ;))

I know, I know. But I didn't know that then. Oh, and I can't do the Matterhorn. You read about how on my one, and so far only, experience on the Matterhorn last year I banged up my knee pretty bad. I think that one is a bit too rough for me.

Great start to an epic Holiday Visit, Dolce. :cool1:

Hi! Welcome! :goodvibes I'm loading photos into photobucket as I type. I hope to get an update in tonight. I've kind of been distracted the last couple of days: I decided to create a photobook of my trip with Shutterfly. I finished my photobook last night so now I'll give this trip report 100% of my attention (after work, sleeping and eating that is....)

:scared1:

:lmao: Whatever you say....

Sorry, you guys. I accidently lied; I won't post another update tonight but I'm 99.9999% certain that I will tomorrow. It's taking too long to load photos into photobucket and then I have to resize them all. But I plan to get through days 2 and 3 before this week-end is over.

If I don’t, then I’ll publically declare that DISUNC doesn’t dye his hair green but that it is in fact his natural born color.

It’s Christmas Eve!

Where am I going to be???

At the Magic Kingdom, of course!

I could think of no better place in the world to be on this day. I’d awoken at 2:00 am to the sounds of workers power washing the boardwalk below. I shut the balcony door and fell back asleep and awoke again just before my alarm.

Oh-my-gosh can I tell you how comfortable this bed is? I’ve heard that people steal things from hotel rooms – do you think anyone would notice if I pack up the bed and take it with me?

I finally am able to force myself out of (in my opinion) such luxurious comfort and quickly get ready for the day.

It's a little before 7:00 am and with my brand new Mickey Santa cap firmly place on my head; I arrive to the Boardwalk bus stop. A few families are already waiting as I plop down on a bench and begin my wait for a bus. The EPCOT resorts are known to have the worst bus service on property.

That’s unfair if you ask me – they’re all deluxe resorts. Shouldn't the deluxe resorts have the best bus service? :confused3 Regardless if it is the best or the worst, it was only a few minutes before I spied a Magic Kingdom bus heading my way.

Surprisingly, I was the only person to get on the bus. The bus driver looked around in confusion; first at the families still gathered at the bus stop that were now glaring in jealousy at me as they’d been waiting at the stop longer than I, yet I was the one leaving first. (I tell you, I received a lot of jealous glares on this trip!) Then the driver looked at me.

“You’re the only one going to the Magic Kingdom?”

I shrug, “ I guess so”

With a shake of his head he shuts the door and off we go. I sat quietly on my solo trip to the Magic Kingdom, enjoying the peace as I knew it wouldn't last for long. There were more people around once we arrived at the park. It was an 8:00 am EMH that morning and I’m second in line to put in my ticket.

To pass the time I take pictures of myself with my iphone (because that’s what you do when you’re solo – you take pictures of yourself. It passes time.

Really ::yes::)

Finally, I get a good shot of me in my Mickey Santa hat and quickly e-mail it off, bragging to those back home (especially co-workers that didn’t take the day off and were at work) of where I was at.

I’m sometimes mean like that. :teeth:

They let us thru the turnstyles early and we all race ....... to a screeching halt to a rope at the train station. I can hear the opening ceremony performed above me in my current position underneath the train station and I chatted with the people around me.

That’s what you do when you’re solo; you strike up conversations with others or you just unintentionally eavesdrop on their conversation and wind up joining in when you find something to say.

Either way, you just talk to others. A lot. It helps to pass the time. Really, it does. ::yes::

Any of you considering a future solo trip - be taking notes here:

1) Take lots of self-photos (even if you delete them all) It can be amusing
2) Butt into others conversations and make new friends.

The family to the right of me had an accent so I questioned where they were from. Apparently, they all lived in the United States but the parents were originally from England.. or Nottingham according to the Dad. Maybe that’s why I was having some trouble placing their accent? – the kids accents were probably a mixture of their parent’s English accents combined with the American accent that they heard everyday.

I mention that my brother in-law is from Stratford-upon-Avon to which the Dad admits that’s the area that he’s actually from (maybe he just thought I, being an American, would recognize Nottingham more? That whole Robin Hood thing – you know?) Actually, my brother in-law grew up in Wellsbourne - which is in the area of Stratford … but technicalities.... you know?

Rope Drop. Do you ever feel sorry for the CM’s that do it? Seriously, they’re staring at a mass of people that want in to the park now. I wonder if they ever fear for their lives? I never had to do a rope drop as a CM, but I often did parade duty.

Everyone takes off in another mad dash towards Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.........…except for me. A photopass photographer is standing in front of the Christmas tree! I’m determined to get as many photopass pictures as possible this trip with the hope that at least three of them turn out. If I get five good ones – I’m doing great! So, I hand my card over to the lonely looking photographer and stand grinning with my back to a massive tree.

....ok, so I didn't like how the photo in front of the tree turned out so I'm posting this photopass photo instead. See? This is why you take a lot of photos.

I take back my photopass card.

Thank you! Merry Christmas!

And off I race towards Tomorrowland….... only to come to an abrupt stop behind everyone else that had made a mad dash towards the land moments ago.

Apparently, there’s a second rope drop today. Ha! I had some pictures taken and am still in the front of the line as we all power walk like mad, trying not to over take those waaay too slow CM’s in the lead, towards Space Mountain.

My intention: grab a FP and then jump into the standby line. Reality: I was to the right side of the group. The FP machines were to my left. I was swept into the stand-by line without a choice. No worry, I’d grab a fastpass upon my exit.

I love the Star Tunnel (they better not change that this year during the refurb). I have the music downloaded on my ipod. It is one of the most soothing sounds. If the entire queue was made up of that one section; I wouldn’t have as much of a problem with waiting in a long line for the ride. Unfortunately, I barley get to hear any of music as I’m quickly swept by the crowd on down to load. I’m on the ride in seconds.

I had veered to my right side upon the line split. I almost always go right. I'm still trying to figure out which side is better but that's hard to do when I constantly ride only the right side track.

After a mad dash through space, I’m back on earth and grabbing a fast pass for later. Originally I planned to do Buzz Lightyear next … but you know what? I stink at those games. Toy Story Mania… Buzz Lightyear… 5 yr olds are seriously kicking my butt at them so I’m skipping it. I’m not going to blast my heart out in my best effort only to see that the score of the kid sitting in front of me is three times mine. Humph! :snooty:

Instead, I grab a cream cheese pretzel from The Lunching Pad (ever tried one? Soooooooooo good. I'm drooling here. I really want one. Right Now.) and am off to the teacups to look for Alice and the Mad Hatter. I really wanted a picture with them.

Alas, they are no shows. I’m standing there, disappointed and looking dejectedly at the area that you can often times find them, when I hear the perfect English accent:

“Look! It’s the teacup ride. I love the teacup ride!”

I turn and see a family walking in my direction, their young daughter that looked to be around eight and dressed as a princess, dancing out ahead of them in excitement. How cute. Now when she turns 18 she needs to apply to Disney for a job as Alice. Oh wait! Alice already works at Disney as herself... I mean, the little girl needs to apply as ..… eh......

She just needs to apply.

(I had fun one night on the bus back from the MK. Two men were discussing about ‘who’ plays Mickey. I looked at them all innocently, “What do you mean who plays Mickey? Mickey plays Mickey!” They grinned at me and finally “got it”.)

Still standing in front of the teacups, I thought for a moment to hop into the line, and then decided against it. I walked over to Mickey’s Philihar Magic instead where I quickly encountered a problem: my pretzel.

The CM stared at me.

I stared back.

“You’re not going to let me take this inside, are you?”

He slowly shook his head no. A solemn look was on his face.

*sigh*

Stepping back, I shoved as much as much of the pretzel down as I could. It really was wrong of me to gobble such a yummy treat as fast as I did. I would love to have one right now –they are so darn good. Oh, wait! I already said that. But I do. They're good.

Finally finished, I enter the line for my favorite Disney show.

In case you wondered –not that many, if any, of you have - here is a list of my favorites:

Favorite show: Mickey’s Philihar Magic
Favorite coaster: Big Thunder Railroad Mountain (with RnR a very close second.)
Favorite themed ride: Tower of Terror
Favorite thrill ride: Mission Space – orange side, of course
Favorite nostalgic ride: Cinderella’s Carousel
Favorite ride period: TTA == yes, that is too a ride!

This show is amazing. (Disneyland is missing out on this one!) It is one of the most amazing things that I have ever seen and it is seriously making me a Donald Duck fan. I’ve never been that big on Donald until now. I really wanted something cute from the gift shop that pertained to both the show and Donald on this trip, but I could never find anything that I liked. In 2006 there was a t-shirt that I loved. Of course I didn’t buy it then. Of course they no longer sell it.

Of course.

I made my way back to the teacups once again in my futile attempts to find Alice and the Mad Hatter.

*sigh*

No luck so I wondered, via Tomorrowland and the hub...

wait for the trolley to pass...

CIMG2371-1.jpg

say 'hi' to the statues....

.... pictures taken, I go over to await rope drop for Adventureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square as it was now nearing 9:00.

There’s another mad dash that I’m swept away in but I finally make it, in one piece, to Big Thunder Railroad Mountain.

CIMG2375-1.jpg

CIMG2036-1.jpg

It’s too early to get another fast pass so I hit the stand-by line. (Apparently the fast pass return times for the WDW ride are no where near as quick as the ones for the DL ride, as per Hound’s latest Disneyland trip report. What’s up with that???) As I walk non-stop through the queue, I realize that I’m following the family that I chatted with at the train station (the one with the English parents) up the ramp but they don’t notice me.

I’m pretty much right on the train without having to stop. I’m assigned to the last row. (Woo-hoo! My favorite!)

Next to me a Mom, Dad and teenage daughter are all planning to sit in the same row on the same train together. I guess the Dad finally realizes that it’d be a *very* tight squeeze as he asks me if I mind him sitting with me. Nope, don’t mind. Hop on over.

And we ride:

CIMG2047-1.jpg

CIMG2048-1.jpg

CIMG2051-1.jpg

Here’s the thing about this ride and me: I can’t stay in my seat.

Seriously.

I slide all over the place. When I’m solo on the ride, it doesn’t matter which side of the row I start out in because by the time we pull back into unload I’m usually on the opposite side.

I warn the father of this fact. It didn’t help that he had a bit more of a stomach than I do. The lap bar didn’t come even near to being in my lap to help hold me in. Sure enough, the ride starts and I’m practically in the man’s lap. I’m clinging on to my side as hard as I can, well, one handed I am, the other hand has the camera because I'm a dork that takes pictures on rides, desperately attempting to stay put. I’m not all that successful.

Sadly, the ride was over. It's too short of a trip. The father seemed to have a great sense of humor… the mother and daughter seemed much quieter. I wished them all a good day, a Merry Christmas and off to the Haunted Mansion I found myself walking.

CIMG2380-1.jpg

CIMG2381-1.jpg

I’m standing in line at load, just after the stretching room, and we’re at a standstill. The ride just went 101; the ghosts are up to no good.

A CM goes over to reset so everything will begin moving once again. I can't recall what the conversation was about, but I yelled out a snarky remark to the CM to no avail. My voice never carries well. The intended person never hears me pathetically attempting to be funny… just those people standing near to me giving me pitying looks at my idiotic retorts.

*sigh*

I was the wanna be class clown in school but never the class clown. Really, I was too shy to be the class clown. But all of those (in my opinion) funny, witty retorts were inside my head. Really, they were.

Oh well.

I left the ride without becoming the 100th ghost and head over to Toon Town. I’m in time for rope drop ….......that will occur in fifteen minutes.

More waiting. I’d hoped that they’d open a little early. Per the DIS (this great source of all things Disney) they’d quietly opened up a little early on some days when the park was expected to be busy.

Well, it’s Christmas Eve. It’s going to be busy. But they didn’t drop the rope until 10:00 and I followed the CM assigned to lead the way to see the fairies.

It was well organized. They had a person assigned for the coaster, for the fairies and for Mickey. They let everyone know who you should follow for what and which side of the crowd you needed to be on. I raced with the majority of the crowd to the Town Fair Tent (is that what it’s called or am I making up a name here?) and had maybe a 5 – 10 minute wait before I was let in. They handed out pixie sized photo pass cards (very cute) and the waiting area was really nicely done.

I don’t know who any of the fairies are but Tink. I haven’t read the books nor do I have children to read the books to.

I’m clueless.

The CM that led me into the room, and held me back for a moment to let the people in front of me finish up with the first fairy, was having fun working his job. He asked me where I flew in from and I informed him Dallas. He looked puzzled and went on about how that was a long flight and he kept looking for my wings. We were in a discussion of how I lost my wings during the long journey when the first fairy was ready to meet with me.

She wore a yellow dress.

That’s all that I can tell you about her.

Up next was Tink.

I forewarned her that a five year old would be meeting her later in the week and the most important question said five year old had is how one gets wings. She wants wings. Tink looked confused and explained that one is born with wings.

Good luck with explaining that to a five year old that desperately wants wings.

Onto the last fairy – is she a garden fairy? Is there such a thing? We had an interesting conversation about her job.

It was so interesting that I can no longer remember a word of it.

Well, hey, if I’m meeting characters I might as well go and say hi to the 'Big Cheese' himself. I made my way over to the Judges Tent and into the huuuuge line that went with it.

Surprisingly, the line moved fast. When I joined the line, it was almost out the door but it hardly seemed to take any time at all to reach the front of it. I chatted with a lovely extended family from Mississippi. That family never seemed to end. I didn’t realize it, but when I joined the line I accidently cut into the middle of them. I was speaking with a few in front of me and suddenly more from behind me joined in. Confused I looked around – exactly how many of you are there? They just grinned and told me to move in front of them as there was only one of me. I chatted with them for the remainder of time in line; their trip was coming to an end while mine had just begun.

Quick meet with Mickey and Minnie both.

Mickey loved my ears and went on about them. He was probably tired of seeing all of the Minnie Santa ears that filled the park. Well, the Mickey Santa hat was better. :snooty:

Back to Frontierland for a fast pass for Big Thunder Railroad Mountain.

CIMG2391-1.jpg

CIMG2393-1.jpg

Yes, Disney marked traffic flows on the walkways. No, it didn't help any. No one ever looks down when they walk!

(except for me, obviously)

I told you that I like to walk; I’m all over the place. I never tour in any particular order – just the order that I think will allow me to spend the least amount of time in line (Toy Story Mania being the exception).

Fastpass firmly in hand, I head over to the Columbia Harbor House for lunch. Grabbing a tuna sandwich, chips and a large Diet Coke

CIMG2396-1.jpg

Hey, Breezy! I’ve got lunch for you! Sorry that it isn't as good as your lasagna.

I headed upstairs for a nice spot by the window.

CIMG2398-1.jpg

CIMG2400-1.jpg

This was my first time at this eating establishment. Normally I’m over at Cosmic Ray’s watching Sunny Eclipse perform. As I saw Sunny in October, I decided on a different venue this time.

Looking down at the street below me, people watching, I saw the cast member readying everything for the 12:00 Christmas parade.

Note to self: get out of the parade route before 12:00.

I have no intention of watching said Christmas parade. I admit to being weird about parades – I don’t like many of them. I love the Boo To You Halloween Parade and the Main Street Electrical Parade. I like SpectroMagic Parade (but haven’t seen it since 2003) but I simply wasn’t interested in the Christmas parade.

At all.

No particular reason for why. I’ve never seen it before and I have no intention to see it.

Finishing off my lunch I realize that it is fast pass time once again. :cool1:

What to do? What to do?

Space Mountain it is.

The background music in Tomorrowland is one of my favorite things to listen to. I also have some of that downloaded on my ipod and can listen to it all day.... :cloud9: So, here I am, drifting along, listing to the soothing music when

Sreeeeeech! Crash!

(OK. There wasn’t a crash. Just a screech and a sudden halt. I've been doing a lot of those lately)

Dumbfounded, I stop in the middle of the walkway and stare; simply at a loss for words. There is a massive line outside of Stitch’s Great Escape.

Stitch.

The #1 attraction that is bashed on the internet.

The one with the disgusting chili burp smell.

Do these people know about the chili burp smell? :confused3

It's not only a line but a massive line.

Man, people are desperate to be entertained today.

Shaking my head, I finally reach Space Mountain ..… only to get into it with the stupid fast pass machine. The thing is; when you argue with an inanimate object, the argument tends to be very one-sided with the inanimate object always winning since you can't change its mind.

Stupid fast pass machine.

We had a serious dispute over time. My watch says it’s five minutes after the time I’m allowed to grab another FP, the machine says it’s still several minutes before.

What?

You stupid machine. Catch up on your time – will ya?

Humph.

I let someone behind me in line move ahead. It’s then my turn again. It still says it’s not time. You #@*$* piece of metal.

I turn around to let a large – and extremely clueless – group move ahead of me to grab FP’s. I don’t think they understood how to work the machine. When another FP machine opened next to them they didn’t seem to understand that some of them could move over to that machine. Instead, they all remained huddled together attempting to figure out the machine.

(Excuse me, the stupid machine.)

I move over to the empty FP machine and finally obtain the coveted FP. I like this machine much better.

Onward to Space Mountain with the first fast pass that I had collected that morning. In the FP line I had about a five minute wait. Not bad considering that the stand-by line was out the door.

Monster’s Inc was next.

CIMG2405-1.jpg

This was my second time to experience the attraction – the first being in October. So, off to Monstroplis I go.

CIMG2407-1.jpg

I find it a cute attraction to pass time with. When the monster was doing the “mind reading” trick and needed the selected person from the audience to say the number (you know, he won’t ‘hear it’ because he will have his eyes closed), the woman refused to say anything at all. So, the monster simply kept repeating himself:

“Now tell the audience your number”

Dead silence.

“Now tell the audience your number”

Dead silence.

The woman finally holds up her hands – off camera – to give us her number.

Next was a whispered conversation between the monster and a “backstage” monster.

“She didn’t say the number. I don’t know what the number is”

“I don’t know the number; she held her hands off camera”

“What do I do? What do I do?”

“I don’t know - guess the number?”

The monster finally attempted to make a guess at the number. He guessed wrong.

We finally gave the monsters enough laughter that Roz let us out. (Seriously, that’s one scary monster. I’m sure she would love to keep us locked inside there indefinitely.) ... you know, I think she looks a lot like my 8th grade English teacher....

I went off on a mission to find Stitch but found PUSH, the talking trashcan, instead.

CIMG2413-1.jpg

I promise; I didn't walk around taking random pictures of trash cans. This one has a name and he moves and talks. Really, he does. I promise!

No, I'm not insane.

Seriously, I'm not.

Push seemed to be on a mission to find out if he was tall enough to ride Space Mountain. I didn’t bother to tell him about the wait time for the ride – he wouldn’t even have to make it up to the attraction to see that it was a long wait.

He did like my Mickey Santa hat and asked if I had purchased one for him. I let him know that I did and that he can pick it up from one of the Main Street shops.

Do they arrest unintentional shoplifting trash cans?

.... I hope not, I'd feel really bad if they did.......

Next up: the TTA. I love this. I have no idea why. There is nothing at all thrilling about it but it’s a nice place to prop your feet up and just relax. And for some crazy reason the

“Paging Mr. Morrow. Mr. Tom Morrow. Your party from Saturn has arrived. You might want to give them a ring”

cracks me up every time.

Can anyone guess what this is?? Anyone.. anyone????

CIMG2415-1.jpg

CIMG2417-1.jpg

It's a line for the TTA.

You know the park is busy when there is a line for the TTA. Lines for this only happen a couple of times per year.

I think that is the definition of busy – and the park will be much worse crowd-wise the next day!

So, off I go on my trip around Tomorrowland:

CIMG2416-1.jpg

CIMG2418-1.jpg

CIMG2422-1.jpg

CIMG2428-1.jpg

CIMG2431-1.jpg

As I was traveling around Tomorrowland I spotted a Stitch. :cheer2: Mission accomplished. I quickly hopped off – at the end of the ride, of course. I didn’t attempt to make a daring leap out of the car and off the track while riding the high beams over Tomorrowland. That would have been a sure way to see the inside of Celebration hospital – or a morgue.

Take your pick.

I quickly found the spot that Stitch was holding court – minus one Stitch. But I found a line for Stitch so I knew that I was in the correct place to be. I guess that Stitch went off to trash Space Mountain for a minute or two. No wonder that line was so backed up.

He finally returned and I gave him a big hug. As we were hugging I informed him that he was my favorite character… he began to hug me tighter … after Dale. He quickly let go and stepped by to glare at me.

“I’m sorry but I love Dale.”

He took another step back and slightly turned his back on me.

“Ok, ok,” I conceded, “You’re #1.”

He took a small step towards me.

“OK. I like you better than Dale.”

He finally forgave me and posed for a picture with me.

I worked my way back over to Main Street.

CIMG2436-1.jpg

CIMG2438-1.jpg

I finally reach Main Street and begin working my way down.

CIMG2446-1.jpg

CIMG2445-1.jpg

The massive Christmas tree:

CIMG2451-1.jpg

There was no one in the Town Square that I wanted a photo with – sorry Mary Poppins!

I always like to have my picture taken with the Goofy statue. Except, I'd have to take the picture of me and Goofy myself...

.... yeah... not happening ... huh?

Fast Pass time up again, decisions … decisions… Jungle Cruise or Big Thunder Railroad Mountain?

What do you think?

Of course I’d get another FP at Big Thunder.

Walking by I notice that the Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean lines were massive at this time of the day – as expected – I really didn’t expect to get onto either until after the second Spectro Magic Parade that night.

I began to happily wonder aimlessly around the park.

So, it really wasn’t aimlessly. I did have a specific route in mind. I was just happily wondering around. I stopped off at a cart in Frontierland and bought a stuffed Chip and Dale.

CIMG2492-1.jpg

*sigh* I love those guys, but mainly Dale.

The castmembers working the merchandise cart didn’t know about the character dining at Liberty Tree Tavern soon coming to an end. But to be honest, I now know more about Disney World not working for the Mouse than I ever did working for the Mouse. Information at that place seems to be on a need-to-know basis and unless you are active on a internet site or it directly pertains to a job – you may never hear a thing about it.

I continue on wondering … my new stuffed Chip and Dale tucked securely in its bag. Passing Mickey’s Philihar Magic…...........

…. and shall keep on walking. Like everything else in the park, it had a massive line that went out well beyond its doors.

Wondering …wondering… ooh! Donald Duck! I’ll join that line!

However, before I could reach the front of it, Donald had to leave to take care of an issue that his mischievous nephews’ caused and Scrooge McDuck took over the presiding of the line. Oh, good. He’s got money. Somebody needs to help me pay for this extravagant splurge of a trip.

“I need a loan.”

Geeze, I never knew that ducks could get that mad… or that hostile!

“You have money, I need some.”

“No, there isn’t any money in my bag – that’s why I’m asking you for some.”

“So? I’m not getting a loan? How am I to pay for this trip?”

Stupid Duck. Has money and won’t give me a dime.

Stupid, flipped-out, hostile Duck.

He gets mad when I ask for a loan.
He gets mad when he flips open the flap on my bag and I explain that it’s empty.

I think that he needs to enroll in an anger management class.

After a stop for a lemon chill (the kid in line behind me for the Duck had one and it looked soooo good so, of course, I had to have one myself)

CIMG2458-1.jpg

yummy looking - huh?

… and I’m full circle back around – via the castle hub. The hub of which I’m stepping all over people that are camped out for the 3:00 parade.

*sigh*

Back to Adventureland once again. See? I told ya? Circles..I'm just walking circles....

Pirates of the Carribean sign says 25 minutes.

Really? Is that the truth or has it not been properly updated?

The CM said 25 minutes but the line’s out the door so I’m a bit skeptical.

Tikki Room: Under New Management it is!

CIMG2459-1.jpg

I’m apparently one of the few people in the world that actually likes the New Management version better – but even so it’s a once per trip sort of thing. So this was my once per trip visit.

It’s almost time to grab yet another fast pass. You know, I have more fast pass times available than I know what to do with. I hang out at the Jungle Cruise for a bit but decide to go ahead and head over to Big Thunder Mountain to use one that I already held for there.

It’s almost 3:00. If I hurry and cross over to Frontierland before the CM’s cut the flow off, and with the 3:00 parade starting in Frontierland, I could ride BTRM and by the time I need to cross back over the parade will have passed.

Excellent plan! :cheer2:

Two problems.

1) I wasn’t current on my Magic Kingdom 411 for the day and didn’t know that the 3:00 parade is pushed down to the 3:30 parade when they run the two Christmas parades.

2) BTRM decided that was the time for it to break down.

Into Frontierland I walk... and find that's the location of every single person in the park:

CIMG2452-1.jpg

I arrive in front of the attraction a little early for my fast pass time. I need to find a spot, in this mob, to wait. I spot a large group taking up walkway space. I decide to “join” them. They’re too large of a group to be run over, despite being in everyone’s way.

This works for about, oh, three minutes and then they have the audacity to move! Can you believe the gall of them? This means that I have to find another spot or get trampled to death as I’m in the path of everyone.

*sigh*

So, I move and I wait. Stupid Disney clocks! Why are they so darn slow! My watch already says it is time and you know that my watch is correct.

Yup. ::yes:: My watch is correct and you, Disney clock, are wrong, wrong, wrong!

Finally! Time has arrived! (Well, it is past time per my very correct watch) I show my fast pass and began the trek up the fast pass line, smiling as I bypass the unmoving stand-by line.

I’m so mean. :teeth:

Screeech! Halt! (almost crash)

A CM stands before us.

“This side is down."

(Not the stand-by side. The fast pass side. Now they in the stand by line are all smiling at us.

Stupid karma)

"Keep your fast passes; you can use them later. Please turn around and exit from which you came.”

Well, that was a bit of a problem as people continued to come up the fast pass line behind us and didn’t hear the CM’s instructions. That left us, the ones in “the know” to explain to the clueless that they need to turn around and go back down.

Easier said than done. You tell them to turn around and explain that the ride is down in an explanatory voice and they stand there, not moving, just staring at you.

Finally I turn on my authoritative voice (apparently I still had it from castmember days of yelling at. .. uh..I mean… explaining things to guests) and firmly tell all to turn around now and exit the ride.

And they do. All they needed was authority, simple explanations didn’t work apparently. I tease the CM about it not being normal for him to see people move in this direction from the line as I pass and I come to a realization:

My well planned out day is falling apart.

You recall that Christmas parade that I don’t want to watch?

Yeah, it just began. And there’s no exit out of Frontierland while that parade is moving. The backed up stand-by line for Thunder Mountain or a 70 minute wait for Splash Mountain are my only other options.

No thank-you.

I’m stuck. Watching a parade that I don’t want to watch. Actually, I still don’t watch it.

I take a photo of Splash Mountain:

CIMG2467-1.jpg

Is the parade over yet?

CIMG2474-1.jpg

(Hey! I see chipmunks!)

Nope.

I snap a pic of it with my iphone to send to my mom and spend the entire parade time composing a long tirade of an e-mail about why I’m stuck in Frontierland and why I don’t want to watch the Christmas parade.

I tell you, that parade wanted me to watch it. It really did. It was a conspiracy I tell you! I bet that BTRM was back up and running the moment I stepped out of that line.

Is it over now?

CIMG2478-1.jpg

Hey, Santa's at the end of the parade... right? Right?

Finally, the torture is over! I fight the crush, and it is a crush, towards Adventureland where I run into Peter Pan.

“Where’s Wendy”
“Oh, she’s off telling the Lost Boys a story about the girl who lost the glass slipper.”
“Cinderella?”
“Yeah, that’s the one!”

Onward and who do I spy? Captain Hook – minus one Mr. Smee. Hook demanded that I come over to him.

Excuse me? Just who does he think that he is?

“I don’t like demanding people.”
He motions to himself… all innocent like.
“Yes, you.”

We take a picture.

“Do you hear a ticking sound? Off – over there in the corner? Do you hear a ticking sound?”

He goes over to explore the ‘ticking sound’ and I leave. Hopefully he’ll find a crocodile in the bushes.

I ponder what to do next. My fastpass time is available for Space Mountain but I was uncertain if I would have time to make it over and ride the ride before my ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern.

Liberty Tree Tavern it is.

Sounds like you had a very interesting day and VERY, VERY crowded. I've been to Disney six times and NEVER saw a line for the People Mover is what I call it :)

I just love being there and meeting all kinds of people. And if you get nice people it's interesting to talk to them.

And I love the pictures of Tomorrowland by the way.
