We are planning our trip for 12/2/11 - 12/10/11. My son turns 3 while we're in Disney. Will Disney honor the fact that we checked in prior to my son turning 3 and not charge us for him?

I know there are ways to get around it but I'm asking because we're hoping to celebrate his birthday during dinner at the Cinderella Royal Table. I do not want to cause a scene if they make a fuss that he is now 3 and we didn't pay for him.

I would imagine that whatever cast member you deal with at CRT probably won't think about that. You could call and ask reservations maybe, just don't give them your info :rotfl:

Shouldn't matter- the age of the child on the day of arrival of the reservation is what the charges will reflect. We travel during the week of my child's birthday and this is how it's been as long as we've been doing trips, so I'm only going on what has happened for us. A reservations cast member should be able to clarify the official policy.

Now this will mean that you will have to share or pay out of pocket for his meals, assuming you are using the dining plan and he wants chicken nuggets & mac and cheese or other "kid friendly" food that isn't on the adult menu. ;)

Disney does not penalize children for growing up (at least during a trip). As longs as a child is under three at the time of check-in to the resort they are considered under three for the trip. This is even true if they are wearing a Birthday Button and proudly telling people "I'm Three".

So the child will not require a ticket or fastpass, at buffets or other all-you can eat locations there will be no charge, and at other table to counter service locations you only have to pay for what is specifically ordered for the child.

How will they even know the child's age? I have never been asked to show a birth certificate or anything for my kids.

When the CM's are told he is celbrating his third birthday in the middle of your vacation then that is enough to show he was under 3 when you arrived.

At some future date, if the need arose, Disney could require birth certificates to prove a child's age.
