Is turn down service available even in standard rooms at the WL? Is there an additional charge? What time does it take place? I am thinking that the LOML would really enjoy something like that, and it will help her lean towards the deluxe resorts in the future;)

Thanks Dave

I had asked about turndown service when we checked into a woods view room at the WL and the cm told me it was only for the conceirge level. :(

Yes you can have turn down service! We stayed in courtyard view and requested it from housekeeping once we got into our room. There is no extra charge, but it might be nice to leave a little tip. At the concierge level, it is automatic, so you have to request it if you are staying non concierge. Don't ask at check in. The front desk cm's really are not familiar with this. Wait to you get to the room and press the housekeeping button on the phone and request it for your entire stay. It was so nice to come 'home' to a dimly lit room with the radio or tv turned on, and mints on the pillow. Every night the lodgekeeper would arrange our stuffed animals in cute positions!

We also requested turndown from housekeeping from our room. We left a tip (1/2 of what we'd leave housekeeping since they don't do as much in the way of cleaning) and liked coming back to the bed turned down and of course the chocolate. :teeth:

Oh man, if I had only done it that way. At least I now know for next time. Thanks kwdietrich1.

Tigger&Belle would you mind sharing how much you tip for both. I want to make sure I do what would be correct for turndown service.

Thanks!

for your replies

My wife and I talked it over last night and if we can get a upgrade at check in to conceirge at a descent rate we are going to take it.

We hav enever stayed at that level of service before and it will be a one time splurge unless my DW gets to like that kind of thing :teeth:

Otherwise it is nice to know that we cn still get the turndown service.

We're planning on going to the WL at the end of March and it is in a woodsview room. It would be nice to have the turndown service during our stay. To be honest with you, I've never left a tip for housekeeping. Sorry, maybe I'm cheap but I didn't know it was customary to do so. Anyways, when and where do you leave the tip? I'd imagine that you would leave it in the morning when you venture off to the parks, correct?

For regular housekeeping I usually tip $1 a person per day and half that for turn down service. This last trip was just my DH and me, but usually we have our kids with us. It also depends on the condition that we leave the room. With my DH and myself there wasn't much of a mess, but if I have even one of my kids, like my last visit and my 2 next visits, we tend to eat breakfast in the room and generate a bit more clean-up. We're not slobs, but I will leave more tip if the room is messier. Those visits, though, we're not staying deluxe so don't have the turn down service option.

lap3, don't feel bad about not tipping. Some people don't realize that it's something that is often done and others don't believe that it should be done. I figure that I can afford a few extra dollars a day and it can brighten someone elses day, so I do it.

I usually leave the $ on my pillow--in the evening for turndown and the morning for regular housekeeping. I do it each day because there might be different housekeepers during my stay. Some people print out special tip envelopes to use.
