Turn Down Mousekeeping - Gift Card

It is an option, so you can just not accept the offer. This works for folks who really are not invested in mousekeeping coming in daily, or those who leave the do not disturb sign on their door for their stay.

I never said anything to the contrary. I was just answering the question about why some people might not want to accept the offer. I quoted the post I was responding to when I made my post.

My theory is Disney is testing how many people are willing to do without housekeeping, then in the future may get rid of it all together and charge it as an additional cost. It seems like they trying to save cost in some parts of Disney while putting lots of money into the upgrades of the parks. I could be completely wrong but that's my thought.

I doubt it. No other hotel chain that offers rewards for declining housekeeping has subsequently made housekeeping a paid-for service. I'm not inclined to think that Disney wants to be a pioneer in this area.

I'm excited about it and if it is offerred at SPorts in sept. we will definitely choose the gift card option. we alsmost never use the mousekeeping anyway, for a number of reasons. we don't need it. it si just the 2 of us. we hardly eatin the room; we don't get crumbs all over the floor. no dirty diapers here! lol I take out the trash every day or 2. we don't like knocks on our door, or being disturbed. ( many times when we put the do not disturb sing out, they have knocked and woken me to be sure I don't want to be disturbed. lol or to sign that we didn't want service. I work nights, so many times we sleep in. OR take an afternoon nap. no knocking please! )we don't like a stranger in our room
we don't like it when the housekeeper throws away things we are not done with. (soda bottles with some soda left, newspapers we haven't finished reading, etc.) and most importantly, my husband has low vision. things need to be left exactly where he put them...he doesn't want his toothbrush moved into a cute little washcloth"roll", his book moved, his hearing aid case, anything at all. when things are "straightened" they are moved.

so count us in as a family that loves this option and will definitely use it. I will also be contacting guest relations to let them know our opinions. great idea.

I'm not really bothered about daily mousekeeping except for new towels, however when we left Disney for a few days last year we warned our keeper to leave our room and not waste her time she was a bit upset, I feel they are starting to fear for their jobs a bit. For that reason I think I would still keep my mousekeeper and am likely to tip her a little bit more this time as well.

We checked into POFQ yesterday and were offered $75 for our 6-night stay. The first night was $15 but I didn't get a glimpse of the whole card. The CM said it was brand new yesterday. We declined. If we were staying just 2-3 nights, maybe, but not the whole week.

Was it all days or nothing or could you have requested one day of housekeeping and just lowered the amount received?

Have a fun trip!!

Interesting. It sounds like it might be $15 for the first night and $12 for subsequent nights.
