Turkey Legs are now $10.00!!

WDW TURKEY LEGS:

1) Disney sells about 1.5 MILLION turkey legs every year!
2) That is about 7 turkey legs for every man-woman-child in Orlando.
3) Each of these monstrous bird legs weighs in at 1.5 pounds and costs $9.75.
4) They supposedly come from 40-50 pound turkeys!
5) About 1,092 calories per leg.
6) Also, about a days worth of fat and two days worth of sodium per leg.
7) Recipe
. . . take one leg
. . . inject salt brine
. . . smoke at 225º for 4 hrs.

NOTE: We really do like the taste of the turkey legs. However,
we seldom finish one, so we save the calories, but still get the
taste when we have a hankerin'.

I always have thought that these look nicer than they taste. Anyone else think this?

They smell good, but that's about it. I tried one once many years ago, but it was too greasy for me. One bite was more than enough. Plus, there's the messy factor. They're definitely not for me, but I'm glad they're there for those who enjoy them.

No, my dh and I love them. We have smoked our Thanksgiving turkeys in a ceramic "Egg" for the last 15 years and would have them no other way - so, so juicy, and we fight over the drumsticks :rotfl2: (also, love, love the left overs, unlike people who just "bake" their turkeys" - our extended families love them). The ones at Disney are so huge though, we happily share one ;)

My 15 yo son was so looking forward to trying this on our last trip in FEB 2011, he broke down and spent his QS meal on a turkey leg meal.....was he ever dissapointed to find out it really tasted like a hunk of smoked ham instead of your typical turkey leg! He did not enjoy it and ended up sharing off my plate from Tangerine Cafe :p

Hi! They are sold in the carts all around WDW. There is one near Frontierland at MK, there is one at World Showcase in EPCOT, one near Tower of Terror at HS. I'm not sure where the one is at AK though. My DH loves them! :)

The one at Animal Kingdom is near the BBQ stand. I don't like turkey legs so DH gets one and I get BBQ, then we eat at the adjacent seating area.

The smell of them just gag me, I'd give you $10 just to make sure you eat them away from me! Aarg!

It would literally kill my wife as in dead, well not dead but deathly ill since she is allergic to turkey.

I have to agree. DH and I got one to split...that was the first and last time. We each took a bite and then noticed each other's weird expressions.

"Why does this taste like ham?"

"I don't know, but it's grossing me out."
