Someone told me that the turkey legs at Disney are made from emu. He was giggling when he said that, so I'm not sure how much truth is in it. It had me thinking though...are turkey legs made from emu? If they are emu legs, does the rest of the emu end up in a churro?

Good Lord, this was the very subject of one of the most outrageous threads EVER on the DIS - a few years ago.

I think, if they were emu legs, we would see alot more emu farms in the United States - cause they sure sell alot of these things at WDW. :rotfl:

Could they legally be called Turkey if they weren't?

Well, hot dogs aren't really dogs, but they call them dogs, so you never know. ;)

Actually, if they were emu, I suspect they'd cost a lot more (and taste even better -- emu tastes great).

hmmm.... emu legs and canned corn, with a side of frozen coke in a bread bag.

Great combo!!!! :teeth:

This was one of the first topics I ever encountered when I found the DIS back in Jan. 2000! Well - that and the corn thread and WillyJ!! :goodvibes

All I know is that they taste like ham. I was thinking it was some mutated pig leg!!!

You're more brave than me - I won't get my mouth anywhere near one of these things! :rotfl2:

I rest my case.

Funny, funny stuff!

Actually, someone had told me that as well. However, I happened to catch a thing on the Food Network about Disney and they said that is just an Urban Legend. They really are turkey!

Question:

What does anyone see in these turkey/emu leg things? I tried one my last trip in March and it about made me vomit.

I tried to act like I liked it so DH wouldn't get mad at me for wasting $5 but I finally just had to throw it away.

Actually I had a friend who worked at Sunset Food Fair ( I think that's the name of the thing over by ToT and RnRc, right? ) anyways.... she sold them all the time and told me that they were actually ham wrapped around a big-ole bone...

It does taste more like ham than turkey to me!

Who knows?

Hmmm... nice pictures! Amazing what Photoshop can do, eh?;) Let me guess, the 'E' and the 'U' were taken from 'Turkey' which was originally there, and the 'M' which looks suspiciously like an upside down 'W' was taken from 'Water' and stretched vertically a bit? The darker brown area around the 'W' also indicates photo manipulation.

Sorry, I like spotting fake photos! :magnify: Good job though.
