Turkey experts, keeping leftover turkey moist

Hi,

I'm making a turkey tomorrow for Christmas Eve lunch and a ham on Christmas Day.

I want to serve leftover turkey on Christmas Day, too, as I know some like both.

How can I keep the turkey from getting dried out and how can I warm it up without room in the oven for it with side dishes and ham in there.

I was thiinking crockpot with a little water? Other ideas?

I wrap my sliced turkey in plastic wrap, then foil, and it stays nice & moist. Remember that the fridge is a dehumidified environment, so you are basically trying to seal it up against that.

In terms of warming it, other than the microwave, I can't think of a way. I think it might taste odd from the crockpot but I am not sure. You could take it out of the fridge, bring it to room temp, then pop it in the already hot oven while you are plating the ham and getting the sides to table. By the time you're ready to eat, it should be warm enough. (And btw, I don't take it out of the double wrap, it won't get hot enough to melt the plastic wrap.) I don't think it needs to be hot hot - in fact, I take my turkey out about 2 hours before serving and I wrap it all up in foil, so it is never right from the oven and nobody minds...

Yep, maybe I'll skip the crockpt and just stick it in the oven just before we serve.

You're right, it doesn't have to be steaming.

Save some of the pan juices from roasting the turkey. I usually put a little bit in with the turkey when I refrigerate it, and a little more in when I microwave it. I also microwave it on 50% power or less; takes a little longer, but it's worth it!
