Turkey Day Gang 2009

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if we will be able to see either G-Force or the 3-d Toy Story movies.

Currently we are signed up for the Golden Eagle Catamaran.

I have heard so much about how great Orient Bay is, I am wondering if we should just head there. Can you rent snorkelling equip? I hate to drag ours along because of the luggage restrictions.

We love snorkelling in Maui, but have been disappointed with the snorkelling in the Caribbean.

First off it is Orient beach, there is no bay. Second is the snorkeling is crap, sorry but there is nothing there to see. I have brought my stuff there twice and was disappointed both times. Now if you want decent snorkeling try cokki beach when we are in St. Thomas.

Rob

I am betting we get both the Christmas Carol and The Princess and the Frog. Last year on the Nov 15 Western we got the Bolt PremEAR. I bet we get Princess and the Frog PremEAR at Midnight.
I know that the Princess form Princess and the Frog is set to be on board when we cruise. So at least an autograph if no movie. :rotfl:

I second, third, and fifth Rob. St. Marten has not really good snorkeling anywhere on the island, but Coki beach and St. John both have AWESOME snorkleing.

I got the PM

Also, don't forget that the Wonder reverses the 3 day and 4 day sailings the week of Thanksgiving to avoid having both ships there at the same time b/c as Michelle and Rob both have said, they cannot both dock...and I think there are some legal reasons there as well as the logistical ones...that said, we also have some great pics of both ships there (w/the Wonder passing by)...and the dueling horns are great too..

We're missing.

Just so we're clear.

We are not joinging the dinner group.
We are not doing the Fish extenders...but we will have ours up if you want to leave a note.
We would love to meet you all!

Les

Will you be doing the T-Shirts or any of the Group events?

I will get you updated.

Thanks for the snorkeling tips. I am wondering if we should skip the Golden Eagle too...maybe just hang out on Orient BEACH;). No Bay. Is it a great beach? All your advice is appreciated!!!

We are doing Scuba in St. Thomas.

I wish we could do the sailing excursion but DD is only 11

We will not be doing Tshirts but I am going to order bracelets. What are the group activities? We are traveling with another family and some of what we do will revolve around that.

I thought I came off as a little abrupt last post. :snooty:My kids were busting through the door, home from school, and they don't know yet...I was almost CAUGHT RED HANDED!!!! I signed off very hastily!

It would be fantastic to see the Wonder sail by and hear the dueling horns!

How bad is the H1N1 down there? We will be spending a few days at the parks and I am going to try to swing the vaccine BEFORE we leave. We are all asthmatics so will likely have some priority.

My DD3 and I both had what we believe to be the swine flu. We were really sick for about 2 days. Not so bad but not something I would want while cruisn'. Seems to be pretty prevalent here in Maryland.

I will defer to Michelle and Steffy for Orlando H1N1 issues, but it has not been terrible down here in south Florida, and hopefully it stays that way.

I do not belive it is bad at all. I have three friends all nurses at three of the major hospitals here. Each one of them do not believe the H1N1 is an issue here. Disney is perfectly fine.

I know Orange County Schools have sent the calls about students calling in sick with flu like symptoms...but I think that is legal cover your butt stuff.....Chuck and Lisa that is your department.

I know in my area Orange County Schools there have been 3 schools that I know have had small outbreaks. They sanitize the school like crazy once that happens. We are really pushing washing hands and using sanitizers. The kids are really good about it too and I think parents are emphasizing the importance.

I know the news said that Seminole County used to give teachers a bonus for not missing any days of school, but they decided to halt that this year because they want anyone who has flu-like symptoms to stay home. Believe me there are a bunch who would go if they thought they could get some money. lol. Teachers love anything free.

Many years ago Osceola County used to give you a bonus for each quarter of perfect attendance.....I never missed a day. however, I never missed days once they lifted that.....I liked collecting sick time.:yay:

.

Just curious how you know the Frog Princess will be on board? Need to add her to my autograph pages.

I will defer to Michelle, but I think that living in Orlando, you tend to hear more things Disney...

Just got back from the Train Tour of Disney's A Christmas Carol. Very cool looking movie, looking forward to seeing it on the cruise!!! The Tour was kinda neat but not worth the 2 hour wait to see the exhibit.

Dustermom, did you end up going? Maybe you saw us there... my DD3 was the really obnoxiously tired and cranky girl wearing in a Minnie dress. The 2 hour wait was waaayyy more than she could handle.

We took DS9. DS14 went to Gettysburg for camping overnight. We got there around 2:30. We looked around a little bit because he had never been to the B&O Museum before and then the line was 1 1/2 hr wait when we got in line. ITA - it was OK but not worth the wait. I did meet a nice person in line and we talked about WDW most of the time. Her DH posts here on the Dis and they have used Tour Guide Mike as well so we had a lot to talk about.

I didn't see any little girls in a Minnie dress and I would've noticed her if I did cause I would've commented on it. That would've been neat had we been talking and not knowing we'll be on the same cruise.

I went yesterday to shop for the cruise and got lots of great deals on the summer clothes. I'm already racking that up as a perk to cruising in the fall! I bought 5 pair of shorts, 2 shirts and a bathing suit for my boys, a pair of shorts for my DH and me a bathing suit, cover up, shirt, dress and 3 pair of shoes for $142. The total savings on the receipt was $567! The bathing suit and cover up alone would have been $122 and the two together totaled $17!!
Anyway, I'm going to put the new stuff right into a suit case.

I have decided that not only am I going to see how little money I can spend on this cruise, but I'm also going to see how little I can pack! After just going in June and seeing how easy it was to do laundry, I'm going to take the bare minimum and just wash if I have to. We're not going to book any excursions but just do the beaches on our own. From what I've read on here, it sounds like we should do Megans Bay and Orient Beach.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Lynn:flower3:

Lynn,

Where did you go shopping???? (Dillards? Macy's?) I'm jealous! Those are awesome deals! We'll be doing laundry, too, but DexH is a notorious over-packer. He'll take a HUGE suitcase for a weekend trip. Can't wait to see what he drags on for 7 nights!

Maybe I should go shopping today, too... not that I 'need' anything, but....
