Turkey Day Gang 2009

Hello Everyone!! I am a newbie too!!

DH and I are sailing on Turkey Day. This will be our first Disney cruise and actually our first cruise ever. We are really looking forward to it! We are in room 7509 and chose the late dining time. I just booked our flights at a great rate yesterday so it really feels like we are going now :cool1:

We will be staying at the Swan when we return and plan to attend MVMCP on the 29th. We are also going to go to Universal for a day before we go home. There is a lot planned, but I think we will have a great time :) Now I am looking over excursions and such to figure out what we want to do.

Stephanie:

Welcome to the group ! Our numbers are really climbing !! That is great.

Will you have other family joining you ? I will have DH and DD age 10. We are always looking for a few pin traders to join our fun !

Pulled a couple of our designs from 2007 out !

Let the fun begin. I would like to make a Door Magnet for everyone. I will post some designs so we can vote.

No we won't have any other family joining us. We don't have any children yet so it will be just the two of us :lovestruc.

Stephanie:

You and your husband will have a GREAT time ! You should be sure and check out PALO the adult dining venue. Rob and Priscilla turned us on to it and it is the best. We are hoping to work in a brunch and dinner on this cruise.

Any questions you have this is the place to ask.

I was actually wondering what night to do Palo. We also want to do a dinner and a brunch, but don't know what night to schedule the dinner for. I don't know what the dining rotation would be (I read that one of the restaurants is repeated) and DH doesn't want to miss out on any of the restaurants so it is kind of frustrating. I have OCD with planning so this will eat at me until I make my decision.

All of the restaurants are repeated, so you dont' have to worry about missing something. Personally, I like to do Palo on a sea day since we like to eat relatively early. I don't have to rush back from an excursion. Hoep that helps.

After reading some of these posts, I have to ask..does anyone on here ENJOY cooking Thanksgiving dinner for their families? I actually do.:lovestruc I'm not the world's greatest cook, but it's so worth the love and effort when DH or DD goes..."mmmmm, this is GOOD." My in-laws are deceased now, (I miss them terribly,) but people in my own immediate family (siblings) can be a pain, and I can deal with them if it's only certain days of the year.:)

Priscilla

Hey Priscilla!

I'm sure that you are a fine cook...particularly since you will whip up a cake from scratch! But to answer your question, considering that I cook at every other holiday for the relatives (and that I hate turkey -- YUCK), no I don't miss cooking at Thanksgiving...not one little bit! I look at it this way, I cook for Christmas, New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and a few birthdays...so I'm good with skipping the turkey!

Don't get me wrong, I love my inlaws and outlaws...sometimes in smaller doses than others....but I never miss cooking the turkey!

Priscilla:

I do like cooking Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Dinner too. Thanksgiving is a great time for us to get away because school is out almost the whole week.

Really look forward to seeing you guys. Rachel and her BFF again.

I enjoy cooking during the holidays as well. I normally have around 20-25 people. For me - going away over Thanksgiving is a novelty. After 25+ years of being a nurse in the hospital, we were never allowed to take time off during the holidays and had to work the holiday or the day after. So, when I left the clinical setting 4 yrs ago, I started taking off. This will be the 3rd Thanksgiving we will be away in those 4 yrs. It's a great time to travel because our kids don't have school that week and I only miss 3 days of work.

I am looking forward to Mickey cooking my turkey this year.

Hi all,

Wendy, thanks for posting that! I can never get photos to post (mostly because I've never taken the time to figure it all out). Wendy's post raises the issue of T-SHIRTS!

In 2007, we had a place in FL silkscreen them, send them to me and then I sent them out to everyone. Do we want to do that again or something different? Mind you, I am a good "coordinator" of things...but I have ZERO design skills.

So, Turkey Day Gang, what is your pleasure on t-shirts? Do as we did in 2007 (with a different color shirt?) or find one that we can each do ourselves online (like the Disney T-shirt place)?

I wonder if I could further entice Marcy into going on the cruise by getting her that silkscreen hardware they have at Michael's craft store... That would kill two birds with one stone. Hmmm... :-)

First, the T-Shirts are a great thing. They really help us identify each other. ( We did a pre-cruise meet ) at the Hyatt at MCO and that shirt held by Rob was the best !

I will post a couple of designs or we can go to a site and order them. I am up for anything.

Greg,

I love the way you think! Do you offer training for other husbands...not saying who specifically....:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I second that vote! I don't think I have ever heard Jack say "I'm going to the craft store to buy you that multi hundred dollar thing you want."

I would love to have a yudu. I even started thinking about it and saying I could make t-shirts for our trip. Not for me though -- this year. Too many other expenses.

I can try and design something if needed - just can't get to anything until after DS13's Bar Mitzvah next week. :scared1:
