Turkey Day Gang 2009

We are still sailing w/ya'all on the Magic for Thanksgiving 2009. However, today we cancelled our 3 night Wonder for July 4th weekend 2009. Since July 4th is on a Saturday this year, my office is open on July 3rd and Mason will have camp on July 3rd. We cannot complain though because we still have a lot planned for 2009. We will be at WDW for MLK weekend in Jan., Skiing in Colorado in Feb., a wedding in Las Vegas over Memorial Day Weekend (we used the new RCI/DVC point trade) and the Magic over Thanksgiving w/ ya'all!!

Also, disappointed Shari is going to miss the trip. She sounded like fun.

Reading about all of you making airline plans makes my head swim. IDK how you do it. We are in Atlanta so we drive. This time we are making a mad dash after school on Friday, sleep a few hours at the Rad, then board the ship. Our little threesome will probably be a grumpy mess on boarding day.

Just out of curiosity, do you still bring two bags each or do you try to pack in one each these days?

Hi all!
Just wanted to give you some info. Southwest will open booking on 1/29/09 up to 8/14/09. I would assume that booking for Nov will open up in April or May (that's when it opened last year; although we waited until June to see if prices would go down, they didn't!). We were on the Turkey Cruise this past Nov and had a wonderful time. We flew in on Friday, stayed at AKL and went to MVMCP. It is well worth the money and staying at WDW put us all in the mood. Paid a little extra and took the DCL bus to port because we think that's also another part of the Disney experience. We're going to WDW in June and our TA has recommended we book our flights asap;within the next month if possible. She understands that rates will be going back up again as demand will be greater due to low rates! It's a crazy game! Orbitz has a guaranteed low rate and will refund the difference if the rate goes down before you fly. That makes me believe my TA is right and that rates are now at their lowest. It's 537.00 RT for 3 adults from Pittsburgh to Orlando in June. We paid 1,200.00 for 3 adults in November!!! Both are AirTran.
I am jealous of all of you - wish we were going again this Nov. We booked again while on board for 2010 and now have to wait! Have a wonderful trip and I'll check in periodically - want to hear trip reports upon return too!

Thank you so much Judy - I was thinking April or May - the cost for the flights are all over the place right now - scary for sure cant imagine what the cost will be for 3 to fly from Manchester NH to Orlando the week before tday - I am thinking about $1k -- I was hoping $700 - $800

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Steve, Andrew and I are presently in Sanibel (again), enjoying 80+ degree weather and not missing home (with snow, ice, freezing rain, etc.) one little bit! Can't believe we cruise this year...and then again, it's still too far away.

Ready Ice? The Ron Bon Jovies are making a return.....I couldn't put it off anymore! The prices dropped and we didn't sail last Thanksgiving (1st time since 2001) Sooooooooooooo we will be on this sailing, got a cat 6 and 11.....late seating and I'll get the rotation for all intetested! Now it's time to go back and get caught up on who is sailing!

Just back from Sanibel and boy is it cold here at home. Right now it's 36 degrees and that will be the high for the week ! Later this week it's supposed to be 11 degrees for a high!!!! I think I definitely need to figure out a way to get the family to move to Florida...my blood is just too thin for the cold north.

Welcome aboard Lampy! Glad you all are joining us (and it will be fun to meet you in person as opposed to just on the DIS).

Hey guys......well,been REAL busy, Jessica went off to college in New York and Alli is a Junior now, so with the different school schedules we were unable to plan a cruise.....and to top it all off I took over ownership of a struggling Chevrolet dealership in June! No vacation other than weekends this year....buy we are going to Daytona for the 500 in Feb and are definately doing the cruise Turkeyday......hope all is good w/u guys!

Hi everyone!

Well Andrew took his "Turkey" shirt with him to Sanibel and was so sad because it's getting too small...he can't even keep it tucked in anymore...that's how short it's getting. By the way, he's up to a little more than 5'6" and he's still only 10 (gulp!). (Chuck and Larry, I think he may challenge you as being the really tall guys before he's 18!)

So, I promised him I would ask everyone if we're going to do the T-shirt thing again this trip?

Karen-Sorry to hear about the cold weather in St. Louis. Every time I go back up north, I appreciate living in the sunshine state!! We definitely would like to order Turkey Day Gang T-shirts again for this year!!
