Turkey Day Gang 2009

Lisa - sounds like a great vacatlon. My sister and BIL did the houseboat thing in Ireland a couple of years ago and they loved it. They almost bought a houseboat in France but decided against it for now.

Lisa - I'll be missing you by a few days for Vegas. DH and I are going there for a quick visit from 7/20-23. Never been there before but I'm really looking forward to checking it out. :)

Your trip sounds fantastic!

where are you staying and are you planning on a visit to FREEMONT STREET?
- that is my fave!!! Old Vegas and just amazing light show

OH MY IRELAND --- I soooooooo want to go there :moped: :moped: -- and to add houseboating to it - UGH sounds like another dream vacation....

:: puts on thinking cap :::

'when can I fit that in'
'DCL in 2009'
'dd goes to college in 2010'
'we are going to St. John in 2010'
'planning on major landscaping for backyard 2010'
'HOUSEBOATING IN IRELAND......hmmmmmm....DD does not need to go to college - St. John is a MUST.....and the landscaping - who cares'

LV is lots of fun...Father-in-law had second home there for many years...we liked the Cirque du Soleil shows, particularly "O"...as to buffets, if you like seafood, the Rio is tops, just get there when it opens around 4 or so....we also liked Bellagio and Paris buffets, but that is personal preference.

Chuck:cool1:

We are staying at Excalibur. I would have liked to have tried one of the fancier hotels, but I wasn't finding any great deals for a while.

So far, we have tickets for STOMP. I'd also like to see LOVE - the new Beatles Cirque du Soliel show. Lenny loves Star Trek (I refuse to call him a Trekkie! :rotfl: ) so he's going to the Star Trek Experience for a few hours one day while I check out the casino. Works for me!

I need to find a really good pair of walking shoes, though. Usually, I love my Crocs, but on our trip to WDW in April, my feet were KILLING me. I literally limped through the airport on the way home, and was still limping a day or two afterwards. :(

oh I loveeee Excalibur - that is where I usually stay but DH WANTED TI - so
that is where we are....I am sure I will miss Excalibur!!!

I'm glad you liked it! After I booked it, someone I know said they didn't like staying there, so I was a bit worried.

Your going to have pro's and con's for all hotels. I liked it due to the fact that the security guards met with me and and met my DD and DDfriend and explained the rules to them. When I sent them for coffee one morning my DD told me that he watched them like a hawk and then yelled "RENEE come over here" when he saw them straying toward the casino...hehe...girls wanted to see what was going on in there.... my girls are still talking about the food - I guess it was good - it was not the best - but they LOVED It - they also loved the pool ( they hated Circus Circus pool and food )

now a friend of mine stated they DESPISED THE snootiness of TI and wished they were back at Hard Rock - another friend stated HR was all parties ---- guess it is hard to make everyone happy - but the times I stayed at Exc - I was happy with it

We just lucked out...Disney released Florida rates for our Wonder cruise for July 4th weekend which translated into 35% off...we deliberately got a cat 11 sideways cabin b/c it is only a 3 day cruise.

Chuck:cool1:

NICE!
That makes moving to Florida tempting! Now if it were not so hot so much......

Hmm....cheap cruise rates....college paid for? Rats...college wins again. Guess I'm stuck in St. Louis...but I'd rather be in Florida (or better yet, Hawaii!).

Ah well....glad you all saved a bit of cash! Enjoy your 3 day. Wish we were going with you!

Thanks!!

Well....this morning I dropped Mason off at his overnight camp. He sleeps over mon-thurs nights at a college campus in Boca Raton, Florida and then comes home fri-sun nights. The camp lasts for 9 weeks. Mason chose the camp and was very excited to go!! :thumbsup2 However, as the parent of only one child, now our house seems way too quiet!! :(

Wow....9 weeks! I don't think I could do that. Hang in there Lisa. Think of all the "date nights" you and Chuck will get to have...maybe even sneak in an "adult" trip to the mouse!

Thanks!!

Lisa - I hope Mason has a great time at his camp. It's a hard thing to deal with as a Mommy - to watch our little ones get bigger. At least he gets to come home on weekends vs. staying over for weeks. Enjoy your grown-up time.

My kids had 1/2 day yesterday and today and they're already driving me crazy. They'll start camp next week. It's hard to work from home when the kids are home all day long. As far as sending both of the boys to camp - can I make that all 3 of the males in my house - DS8, DS12, and DH(too old to say in public)? :rotfl:

Thanks for all of the positive thoughts!! :thumbsup2 ::yes:: From Mason's perspective, the camp experience is great...he gets to be with other children his age, he gets to swim, play and have lots of fun, and he has some time away from his "boring" parents!! However, as one of the parents....I miss him!! :( It is true, at least we get to spend weekends together and for 4th of July....since it's a long weekend....the 3 of us are going on the Wonder!! :cool1:

Now my perspective differs a bit from my wife's....ah...peace and quiet....

I had a nice long post ready this morning and suddendly my computer totally shut down. So I am going to try again!

{{{{chuck}}}}} Peace and Quiet - yahoooo
{{{{{{{LISA}}}}}} missing her babe......

I was never blessed or cursed with Renee going to Camp. She did not like going to sleep overs let alone AWAY for a while. She loves to be around us and even if we did get one night w/o her she would call us every hour and ask "wad da doing?" Finally we realized we should not answer the phone till around bed time when she would want us to say goodnight to her.

Most times her friends want to stay here and not have her stay there - so guess that works. Sadly lately ( and for the past 9 months ) she has had a Boyfriend that seems to be her WORLD. :scared1: :faint: :scared1: :faint: So we have not had sleepovers with her friends and there is no way HE is sleeping over!!!!!! :headache: :headache: he is leaving for college in September so I will just have to pick up the pieces of her broken heart after this. Today she called me to tell me that they were hot and he wanted a shower - HUH?????????? GO HOME and take one!!! :furious: :furious: then she informed me that he was already in the shower and at least she was on the phone - so that I would know that she was not in there - :headache: Goodness - I could not imagine having more than one child.

: sigh :
