Turkey Day Gang 2009 Thread #2

Hope everyone is doing well.. We have been keeping really busy here..

So far Lindsey has been out of school this whole week.... We are trying to dig out of the Eastern Deep Freeze with records amounts of snow, all around.

Really missing everyone..

Miss you all.

Our long vacation took an unexpected turn but everything ended up OK. But it did make for a busy schedule so I wasn't able to keep up with any Internet activities. I am hoping to continue the trip report soon now that we're back.

Facebook on Iphone is great!!! That was the only way we could keep track of everyone's status while oversea.

Paula, long flight for kids isn't bad if they can sleep through most of it. Otherwise bring cards or other thing for them to pass the time. Our HK flight was about 14 hours. Nathan spent most of the flight playing his Nintendo DS and the rest sleeping. I watched about 4 movies and caught up on some tv episodes. Just get up once in a while to stretch your legs and back. All necessary evil to get to your desired locations.

Read about the record snow fall in the East. Can't believe FL is getting freezing temp!!! Maybe you guys should come out to Southern California for a break. Hang in there.

Welcome back Chun!

It is soooo cold by Florida standards. :scared1: Hopefully by next weekend things will be back to normal.

We hope everyone is doing well!! :thumbsup2

Lisa

Right now it is 35 degrees with a wind chill of 24....and there were reports of snow flurries down here yesterday though that has not officially been confirmed.

Chuck:cool1:

In Miami :scared1:! I wonder if this is what the mean by he!! freezing over? We've had windchills around -20 to -30! And here I've been dreaming of warm Florida weather....silly me!

Take care (and at least you all ski so you have warm clothing!),

Karen

I joke about the weather knowing full well everyone else is freezing worse, but consider in Florida most homes have no furnace or chimney etc...the only heat we have is electric...

And then there are the office buildings...many we learned, including mine, have no heat at all...was sitting at my desk in a ski coat much of today as the high temps on sat/sun did not get past 45...today we made it to the 50's at least...worst cold spell we have had in over 20 years...

And imagine Mason's shock this morning when I had to use the defroster to melt the frost on the car windows....we don't have ice scrapers either...he had never seen that before except in ski towns.

Chuck:cool1:

Chuck,

Hope things warm up down there soon. We hit 47 degrees today and everyone was running around without a coat....like it was spring! But when you remember that we went from -6 to 47....it's a heat wave!

Karen

I hope things warm up soon, too! I'll be in Bradenton, FL next week.

Hi all,

We are tentatively planning a July 10 to 17 trip to Disney World. I say tentatively as we will know May 1 whether or not there is a strike at Steve's plant. If there is a strike, then Steve (as a manager) is locked in until :confused3! At which point, we hope that it is settled before our room only ressie cancellation time of July 4.

If there isn't a strike, then we will all be happy as clams at Ft. Wilderness Cabins. Our crew this time will be the 3 of us, Andrew's BFF Alex, and my nanny/niece Caitlin!

Anyone want to join us? Yeah, I know it's hot in Orlando in July....but it's hot here too!!!

Hey Karen...wish we could swing it as we have not been to Disney in a few years. We will be in Orlando the following week for the Carnival Dream cruise:cool1::cool1: Did you guys book the DCL Dream for Aug 2011?

Karen-

Sounds like a great idea for vacation!! Unfortunately, we will not be able to travel in July--right in the middle of Mason's summer camp. We are hoping to take a trip---either WDW or a cruise in August. Mason will have 2 weeks at the end of the summer between camp and the beginning of middle school!! :scared1:

Lisa

Hey Rob! Yep, we booked on the Dream for August 2011! Hope you all enjoy your Carnival cruise in July. We looked long and hard at it...it sounds great...but the Mouse beckons with the boys!

Chuck and Lisa, I know what you mean about the gap between camp and school. Isn't juggling fun?

See you all later,

Karen

Yes, I am still alive!!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: I have just been super busy. I saw someone had said they were in Bradenton, FL. I am originally from Sarasota. So I know Bradenton pretty well.

Not sure who was talking about going to WDW, but April and I will be there Valentine's weekend. Got some friends from MN coming down then. So we will spend that weekend with them. Gotta get the Mouse fix in somehow since we won't be on the Wonder until June 2011.

April and I want to, once again, thank everyone for the special dessert. It was exactly that, "special". We look at our pictures and wish we could do that all over again.

Charlie

PS Those two weeks in January where it was so cold here in FL, I do not want to do all over again!!!!!:scared1:

We got 18 inches of snow. Our driveway is cleared off - that was murder on our backs! :faint:
