Just got an email from Turbo Tax, thought it was an interesting new marketing technique. They are mailing out the new version of of Turbo Tax and when you install it you pay for it.

Just insert the CD into your computer and follow the simple instructions. Your PC will automatically launch your software. All you need is Internet access, your Priority Code (on the package — above your address) and your credit card. To purchase TurboTax Deluxe, just click on Install and Purchase Now and you'll be prompted to enter your Priority Code and credit card information. It's just that simple.

I'm probably going to pick up one at the store anyway because I want a new version of Quicken and some of the other free with purchase options.

Interesting way of going about selling it this year -- works for me, because I would be buying it anyways and now it saves me a trip. I wonder if the CD's are only going out to people who bought TurboTax in the past, or if they're mass mailing it?

I've used it before so, I imagine that would be their primary list once you use a tax program it's too much trouble to change
