Tupperware is outragous!!!

I have not been to a tupperware party since I was maybe 12 (I am 28) but my mom had one today so I went. I could not believe what they were charging!!! Maybe I am cheap but $78 for a plastic cake dish, $40 for 3 spatulas, or the lovely knife for $350!! I felt cheap buying 4 plastic cups for $14 that I could have got at the dollar store for $2 (the cups were on sale normally $22 I think ) I just could not believe the prices.

That's why I buy Tupperware at garage sales. When it breaks, they still replace it with a new one if they still make it (or give credit if they don't make it anymore) and I pay WAY less than new. I like real Tupperware instead of Rubbermaid because it is easier for me to find lids that match. I frequently get a container at one place and the lid somewhere else. I used to sell Tupperware, but the shipping charges & item prices got so high I thought it was ridiculous.

I prefer the quality of Tupperware compared to Rubbermaid & similar brands. I was a consultant years ago just to buy it at cost, which is still spendy, but you bypass the 30% consultants commission. Ebay is a great place to buy sometimes.

Yup, I can remember my Mom used to buy it in the early 70s when my Dad was an E3 in the Navy and our family was living on VERY little income. My DH and I are doing much better now than they were then and I'd have heartache paying for Tupperware prices. I'd gone on the internet looking at Tupperware cups for the kids and went .

you can also buy surprise boxes. I don't think that's the official name but for like $30 you get a random big box of items. I've gotten sugar/flour style storage containers, leftover sized containers, kids sets, Christmas containers. Lots of great stuff that was worth tons more than the $30 I paid.

You'd need to ask a consultant about it since that's where I was getting mine from a few years back.

I'm not impressed with their replacement policy though. One of the tops to a small container melted in and they would replace it for free but I had to pay $4+ for shipping! The container didn't even cost me $4 in the first place. So I use the bottom as a snack bowl for the kids. Just irritates me that it wasn't free at all to replace.

True their prices are steep but comparing anything tupperware to the dollar store or rubbermaid is like comparing apples to oranges. Your tupperware products will last forever and never stain. There is a way to buy tupperware reasonably and you have to watch for their sales, get them on ebay etc. I love my stuff!

I love Tupperware for select pieces only but Lock & Lock is my "go to" food storage product.

One of the reasons (I believe) why the $ of Tupperware is high is because of their (formerly great) lifetime replacement policy. What I've found recently though, is that many of the newer pieces aren't even eligible for that "pay postage only" policy. I've had items only a few years old - bought new from Tupperware - crack/shatter and they won't replace them. (They even had the nerve to ask "where did you buy that item?") Directly from you guys, but it shouldn't matter if I bought it from the man in the moon! Apparently, there's some new symbol in the catalog next to things they won't replace. Strange, those are the pieces I have...and they're breaking! There are many other pieces I love, though, and hope they last a good long time...

Lock-n-Lock is much cheaper than tupperware. QVC has set of it for very reasonable prices. I think the quality is as good a Tupperware. Target stocked it in KY for awhile but changed over to snapware (not nearly as good). The one drawback is that Lock-n-Lock doesn't have the selection that Tupperware has.

Tupperware has become ridiculously expensive and it doesn't last as long as they claim. Maybe in the past it did. My mom still has some Tupperware she got for her wedding shower that has held up perfectly. Much of my Tupperware has cracked or warped badly to the point of being unusable. I follow instructions on care and use, but it's just not very good. A couple of pieces I've called to get replaced and have gotten the 3rd degree. Lock-n-Lock is a good alternative. It's easier to open and close and holds up to heating in the microwave and cleaning in the dishwasher without warping.

I love Tupperware and prefer it over any type of storage unit or (non glass) dishes. I buy all of mine new off of Ebay, and have for the last several years. I have lucked out with several sellers giving either actual shipping or combined (and reasonable) shipping. I do NOT do/have Tupperware parties (nor do I go to Pampered Chef or Home Interior or anything like that)!

I have a few bowls from them and the lids never would never go on correctly. Maybe I got defective ones, who knows. I also had bought a bunch of the impressions no leak cups (or whatever they are called) and I loved those!

I prefer Lock N Lock over anything though. They are the best!!

I gotta admit, I love my Tupperware layer cake container (there's just no other way to keep a layer cake fresh!), but I got it years ago for nowhere near $78. For everything else, however, we're strictly "white trash Tupperware" — leftover Cool Whip and margarine containers — and those get replaced for free too!

And I love the FridsgeSmart stuff the ones for Fruits & Veggies-saves me lots on Money by keeping stuff fresh.

I buy my Tupperware new on ebay for a fraction of what I'd pay at the parties. If you have your book from the party, look up the item on ebay and buy it there. Even with the shipping it is a lot cheaper. I do the same thing with Pampered Chef stuff and with my Mary Kay foundation. I get my tubes on ebay new for $1.25 - $2.00 plus a couple of bucks for shipping, but from a Mary Kay consultant the foundation is around $14.00.

Garage sales and auctions are great places to get Tupperware. Although a few years ago I got one of the big huge bowls w/lid for only $6!!! It was only $6 because it was a Halloween bowl....plain black with white lid. And a cheese knife and big long knife for $6 each too because they were on the clearance page. I've looked at the site every so often since then but have never found such great deals.

I use to sell Tupperware when I was first at home with my eldest. In six months the prices on their products consistently went up. I felt really guilty selling this stuff! I would do a party for someone - she was having a party for the free stuff because she couldn't afford to pay for it - the friends she invited couldn't afford it either but were there to support her and basically bought the least they could manage. UGH! Too harsh! Couldn't do it anymore!
I ended up with lots of pieces (I would buy bunches when we had special offers). A couple of years ago I sold a ton at a garage sale - nearly new and a great deal. Definitely the way to go if you are in the market for this stuff.
