Tulum Ruins and Beach Tour?

We are thinking of doing this excursion and wondered if anyone had any feedback on it.

My family did this year before last. We really had wanted to see a little bit of ruins, and that is what it was. Our main problem was that it was in JULY and so hot. The ruins were great, and we saw some cool wildlife, but it was crawling with bugs and so hot people were pouring water bottles on themselves. The ride to the beach was bumpy, but we laughed about that. The beach was great, because we couldn't wait to hit the water. The beach time was too short! Last summer we returned to Cozumel and planned an all day beach trip just because we were returning in the summer and wanted to be able to cool off. You must be going at a much more comfortable month, right?

We did this in August 2003. It is a full day tour. YOu have to take a smaller boat over the the mainland and then walk about 6 blocks to the tour buses. The drive is about an hour with a bathroom break on the way there at a local tourist gift shop. When you get to the ruins you can either walk the road to the actual ruins or buy a ticket on a tram to drive you there (I don't remember the cost, but it wasn't much) Our tour guide gave us about an hour of history and info on the ruins and then we had about an hour on the beach. There are other people there besides our group from the bus using the beach. There were several women at the beach that were topless. Some people on our bus were very upset and complained to Guest Services when we returned to the ship. I think they forget that they are not in the US and the rest of the world has different attitudes about public nudity than we do. All in all, it was a great trip and the ruins were worth the travel time.
