So I saw on a thread the other day, the cutest little canvas bags will tulle and ribbon added to match different princesses.
I bought the supplies to make these yesterday for my girls and my friend's 2 sweet little ones.
I've searched online and cannot seem to find how to acutally go about making them.
I guess really the only thing I'm lacking is instruction on how to add the tulle to the bag. I've tried sewing it before to other things only to have to bunch and get torn.
So to the awesome crafters here, could you please share some guidance???!!! :worship: I would be so thankful! :lovestruc

These are so adorable I went out and got the stuff for them. I am almost done with the first one. I didn't do princess yet ( I'm saving that for our surprise trip). They were pretty easy and my girls love them. Thanks for the link.

I would also like directions to make these.
And where does everyone get their bags from? Is there somewhere that you can all those different colours.

Here is what I did ---

1) Got Duck Cloth from Joann's (I got a yard and used maybe 1/4 of it to make a small purse/bag). Cut two rectangles out (you can make them any size you like).

2) From the bottom edge of each rectangle cut out a two inch by two inch square.

3)Press and sew under the top edge of each rectangle to look pretty.

4) Sew together the sides and bottom of each rectangle.

5)Open the "bag" and have the "corners" now meet and sew across. This is hard to explain. It is easier to see it. Once you have the sides sewn and you open the "bag" up the notched corners will open and meet and it is easier to see what to sew.

6) Make handles (there are bunches of ways to do this) and sew them to the bag.

7) Mark on each side of the bag where you want the top edge of the tulle to be. (Make sure this is even on both sides.

8) You will need enough tulle for 3 times the circumference of your bag (this was my mistake). Fold the tulle in half or thirds to make it the correct length for the bag.

9) Pin the tulle to the bag, pleating as you go. The fuller you want it, the tighter the pleats. Once pinned sew.

10) Pin ribbon over the edge of the tulle to hide it.

Presto == you are done!!

I am a NOVICE sewer and I finished the first bag in about 2 1/2 hours. I also got iron on letters at Hobby Lobby and put my DD's names on the bags. I also didn't use enough tulle, so mine are not very full. I will be trying again (more princessy) as we get closer to our trip.

Hope this helps. Let me know if anyone has any questions.
