Inspired by the "check-in" thread, how many of you make site requests and how specific are you? BTW, for purposes of this poll, disregard requesting a pet loop.

We usually ask for a specific loop, by a canal, go figure.

A canal.....????? Hmmmmm, I wonder why. You don't mean you know someone who might like to fish a little bit, do you?:rotfl:

I wonder what percentage of campers actually make requests. I realize there are people out there that, GASP!, don't research and don't make requests. Long ago, before I got older and more "educated" by the disboards, I made a reservation at ASMu without any requests. I ended up one room away from the farthest room available with a "lovely" view of the woods and parking lot. I don't know what the people in the next room had done to deserve their fate... probably checked in with a "I hate Mickey" shirt on or something!

Our first trip we were put on the 1900 loop surrounded by dogs, this was before we had a dog. At that time we did the parks commando style so only was at the TT to sleep. Now we go for The Fort and hardly spend any time at the Parks.

My TA always put in my request for a specific loop but I always fax in a request for a specific site. Since we go during the slower times, our requests have usually been honored. If for some reason when we get there and they assign us a different site and we don't like it, we will request to be moved to another vacant site that we like and they always accomodate changes.

I am kinda weird about this stuff, because I have specific wants and needs. You'll find me everytime I go, walking or biking around looking for sites I like and writing them down. If it's around Thanksgiving or Christmas I have certain sites in the 800 loop that I request due to the fact that my four-legged kids don't like the sound of the buses running and I know which sites will best fit my decorations. I also think the decorations get more exposer there than they do in say the other place I stay which is the 1900 loop.

Other than that we pretty much request the 1900 loop. I also have preferred location there, away from the comfort station (I believe tenters and pop campers should always get those sites) and something that has shade in the afternoon and we can get our 30 foot 5th wheel in and out of even with a large vehicle parked across from us. Luckily we don;t have any slide outs and Hubby has a CDL so thankfully he is pretty good at backing etc., but I try to make it easier on him and the neighbors.

Usually because the sites are so tight in loop 1900 area to get in and out of their isn't alot of people there. But, over Memorial Day weekend it had more people in it than any other loops even on Tuesday after the holiday and the campground cleared out a bit. Go figure. LOL!

Anyway, we get our site requests at least I'd say 90% of the time. But, be aware if they are to capacity and you ask for a specific site or sites in my case they may tell you it's not available yet if you check in before 1pm. At which point if you have a generator or no pets feel free to pull over to their parking area and have them call you when the sites ready. Otherwise just ask them what esle is available. :)

Twice I was burned by a bad site.

One check in - 2000 loop - Prime spot right next to the front comfort station. Looked great at the front desk on paper, till I pulled around and they had the front comfort station under renovations and the site next to it was being used for parking of the construction worker's vehicles.
So back to the front desk we went and had our site moved.

Another time our site backed up to Creekside Meadow with a loud rowdy bunch that was there the entire time.

I used to LOVE 2000 loop, until those two events happened back to back. I think the second one happened first, the top listing was just icing on the cake.

I usually request loops, and even check in at the desk to make sure my request can be honored. 1500 and 900 are my two favorites to be at. Well not so much the entirely paved pad in 900, but I like the closeness of the comfort station and campfire.

well, I dont have an answer for the poll as this will be our first time camping at WDW. DH has never camped before and we are 'practicing' tent camping this summer. We plan on going to FW in October and it sounds like 1500 loop is close to what we need. Anyone have a specific site that is not too close to noisy buses? That is all that I worry about, DH being awake all night with noise and playing the part of one of the dwarfs by day (grumpy) If we dont like it I wont hold ya to it.;) btw we are tent camping with 2 kids (8 and 4)

We like the loops near the water and close to bath house site.

Place a request in your reservation to be placed at the back side of 1500 loop. Also continuous noise like a fan blowing will help.

We've only been to FW twice and both times I requested a certain loop by fax a week before our arrival. The first year, we got a great site. Last year, our site was an impossibility to get into, even though I gave specific information on how big our camper was. We found a few vacant sites in that loop that would work for us and called the front desk to see if it was okay to use one of them. We were told all of the sites in that loop were already assigned, so we got moved up to a premium site at no extra charge.:cool2:

We always ask for a specific loop when making our ressie and then sometimes a specific site when we check in.

So far, we are batting about .500

:):santa:I must be doing something wrong! I have requested certain loops and never get it.I'm told you can not request your site or loop or else they are already reserved.(which they were not) One year christtime requested 700 loop and we were told they were all reserved..How can they be reserved when you cannot request it? I have always been curtious maybe I should be nasty...No matter we still love the fort............... We'll be there for Christmas!

the only thing I ask is to be in a pet loop so our furbabies will be welcome too:hippie:

Afraid the neighbors might think DH snoring is the fan blowing. Is 'back side of the loop' specific enough? I just cannot find a map that lists the individual sites by number, just the loops.

Always make our reservations for a "preferred pet site" - so we usually get the 300 loop. Sometimes we get upgraded to a "premium", but I'd rather stay in the 300 loop given the chance. Site 305 is our favorite.

I usually request a loop. Often times we don't get it. Most of the time that is ok. We have stayed in most of the loops, and have only rarely been disappointed. If we pull up and don't like the look of the site, we scout out an empty we do like, then go to the comfort station and request a change. Usually get it.
