The first night my sisiter's family is in WDW, they are just planning on riding the monorail (they're staying at GF) to Epcot and then going to Boardwalk to dinner at ESPN. They just want to look at the decorations in the Epcot area hotels and get a feel for WDW.

Should they do a full loop and go to Boardwalk from TTC or get off at EPCOT and take a bus? Are there buses from Epcot to Boardwalk? Are there buses from GF to Boardwalk?

They would also like to ride the boat loop between Studios and EPCOT but I'm pretty sure there is no way from the monorail to the boat without walking through the park.

Any thoughts on how to accomplish this?

TIA!!

It sounds like your sister does not want to enter Epcot.
The best solution is to take the bus from the GF to the Disney/MGM Studios. They can take the boat outside the Studios (do not have to enter the park) to the Epcot hotels. The boat stops at the Swan/Dolphin, Yacht/Beach club resorts, Boardwalk, and then goes on to Epcot. They can depart at any of the hotel stops and walk around the entire area. The ESPN restaurant is on the Boardwalk side across from the Beach Club resort.
This way they can look over all the hotels and eat at ESPN without having to go through a park. Note that there are really great restaurants in this area. Might want to try something better than ESPN. Check out the menus at allearsnet.com.
When done they can take the boat back to the Studios (or walk - although it's about 20 minutes or so, but a nice walk) and take the bus back to GF.

You could get off the monorail at MK and take the BW bus from there. No direct bus from GF. There is no bus to BW from either the TTC or Epcot. Another option is take a bus to downtown disney and transfer to a BW bus there.

We took the bus(from AllStars) to MK and then grabbed a bus to Boardwalk. You could take the monorail tho. Then get a bus. Or take the bus from GF to MGM, and get the boat to Boardwalk. Then boat back or take the bus to MK and then monorail back to GF.

If, in fact, you do want to go to Epcot for touring, then take the monorail to TTC, transfer over to the Epcot monorail. Tour Epcot, then walk over to Boardwalk (or take the boat, but it's an easy walk). Boardwalk does not have any bus transportation to either MGM or Epcot. You either walk or take the boats.
