My family and I are staying at the DLH next week. We have WOC preferred dining at AG so we won't need to get FPs for that. We will, however, want to get to TSMM first thing in the morning on our CA day.

Since we can use the GCH gate to get in the park, what time do you suggest lining up at the gate. Also, where do we go to line up for TSMM once we are in the park.

Thanks!

There will be CM's holding a rope right down from the GRR FP machines, when the park opens off you going with a huge number of other folks. Just remember many things are changing so this may not be valid tomorrow. Have fun, we will be there mid August.

We will be there about 0845, we do not have the urgency that a number of folks seem to have. One reason we stay 5 days, much less stress on this old body. Hydroguy should have been in the park with his family today and he scouts things out like I do when we first get there and there are a number of folks who are constantly posting about what is going on without the emotions that gets some folks going.

Have a great time,

Jack

It seems that everyone knows about the line for TSMM at rope drop. We went last August and again this June and the line in the morning was definitely shorter last year. If you are spending multiple days at the park and plan to park hop, you might consider hitting TSMM during WoC. Friends of ours returned from DL recently and were able to ride TSMM multiple times that way.

Have a great trip everyone! :wizard:

Thanks for the info! I've heard that TSMM has been hit and miss as being open during WOC, but we will definitely check it out!

We did the morning rush to TSMM two mornings and it's definately not a secret any longer. You have to be on the GRR side or you don't have a chance at all. We lined up at 9:40 or so and were able to get on TSMM with a short wait.

We also rode it one afternoon -- line said 45 min but it was about 35. Worth it to get a second ride in.

We always go and ride soarin while waiting and then get back to the rope.

We were there last week. We got to the GCH entrance at about 9:15. We got right in without much of a wait. First, we grabbed Soarin FP's. They weren't doing a line at GRR. Instead, we got to go further into the park, to the entrance of Paradise Pier. It was roped off there. We were near the front and when the park opened at 10:00, it was a mad dash to TSMM. We walked right on. Then we walked on Screamin. Hung out in that area until we could grab Screamin FP's at 10:40.

I never figured out a good strategy for GRR. The line was always long. One day it was over an hour at 10:30. My DD and I rode it single rider one day while the rest of the family was napping. I never checked when they started distributing FP's though.

We saw the 9:00 WOC show last Wednesday. We rode TSMM during the 10:15 show with about a half hour wait.

This was our experience as well. Lined up by GRR and had a very minimal wait for TSMM. It was great! It was, by far, the shortest wait for TSMM we have ever had. We sailed right on through the queue when we got there. There were soooooo many people lining up behind us though (all the ones who came in through the main DCA entry and didn't line up at GRR, I assume). When we went on TSMM in the afternoon and in the evening, the line was never any shorter than 30 minutes, and sometimes around 40 (though it moves fairly quickly). I love the ride so I will wait in the lines, but the best experience so far has been to use the GCH entrance into DCA early in the morning and line up by GRR, then head to TSMM.

We experienced the same thing -- rope drop near GRR was way past GRR and nearly at the pier. Rope drop at the other path, near bugs life, was way back. If you're at that rope drop, you don't have a chance at a short TSMM line because all of the GRR path people get their first. We used that opportunity to ride screaming (DD's first time and a huge success).

We never tried to ride GRR. Two days it got a bit chilly and I knew the line would be madness for a ride that I don't think is even all that great. Instead we rode Splash twice with our ponchos on. LOL.

I'm not sure the morning madness for TSMM is really worth it if you figure we waited 20 minutes for rope drop and then 10-15 to ride it once. That's a half hour and later in the day the line mellows a bit and you can ride in about a half hour plus eat a snack in line while you're waiting.

I would rather wait - if there is a wait -in the morning when it's cool, than come back and wait in the afternoon when it's hot, which we have done. But a lot of it has to do with timing and the day. Some days it may be very worth it and other days, not so much. Waiting in that GRR line isn't always 20 minutes. Some CMs will let people start heading back to Paradise Pier sooner than others will (they all seem to switch it up), so the wait in that line isn't always as long, nor is the wait in the queue. So if I am lucky and can hit the GRR line at the right time, when it's about to move, and then only wait 5 minutes to get on TSMM once I am in the queue, I would rather do that then come back at 2:30 in the afternoon and wait in the heat for 30-40 minutes (and lately, reports of TSMM have been that the line mid-day is 45 minutes to one hour long:scared1:).

The problem is, you never know if it will be a lucky day when things are moving fast in the morning and the CM lets you start heading back to TSMM early, or if you get a CM that won't let you move until 10:00 a.m. and then, by the time you get to TSMM you have a longer wait. I guess some days it will work like clockwork and other days it may seem like a waste of time.

And True that the heat is also a big factor! We hit 2 unseasonably cool days and while DD was in a jacket and complained, I knew it was heavenly to be escaping that heat.

Agreed that it is hit and miss. On the day we had success we got to the CA gate at 9:30 and I was amazed at the lines just to get into the park! I thought they opened the gates at 9am. The other morning we went over around 9:30, there were no lines to get through the gate.
