TSMM Fast Pass

I was in line this morning for Toy Story Midway Mania and several DCA "suits" were there discussing how the lines could work for a Fast Pass line and the standby line. I didn't have an opportunity to ask the "suits" when the fastpass would go in effect for TSMM. A ride employee responded to my question about Fast Pass that that was not going to happen any time soon. Has anyone heard when fast pass will happen for TSMM?

I was there 2 weeks ago and was thinking they should have one. They would have to rebuild the queue for a second line.

I'll be thrilled if/when they do this! That line seems to take forever, and it seems like it's always one of the longest waits in the parks! I haven't gone on it my last few trips, despite it being in my top 5 favorite rides, just because it seems to take forever to get through the wait for such a short ride.

(Now, off to play the home version of it. Hoping my skills will be improved once I actually *do* ride in it the parks!)

I wonder why they got rid of the single rider line? It seems like there are so many cars that leave with three people in it. We completely skipped it this our last trip too because of the line. I walked past it at one point when it was especially long and there was a cast member handing out Etch a Sketch's to play while waiting. I thought that was pretty cool.

It doesn't sound like there are any firm plans in place for a fast pass line. I think if there were definitive plans to put one in they would have figured out how to do it already.

They got rid of the single rider line because it made no sense - it out a single riser with the odd man out in an odd group, essentially making that person a single rider too. That's not fair, and many people don't want to share a car with just one other stranger. Probably received a ton of complaints.

I thought I saw somewhere else (Twitter?) that they were looking at an expansion of TSMM in DCA similar to the one in Hollywood Studios. This FP talk, coupled with a possible expansion, would make total sense. It adds another FP ride for when Screamin' goes down early for World of Color.

It made tons of sense.

Not sure how letting someone sit next to me, while DS and DH were together, turned me into a single rider, or if we want to say it did, how that's a bad thing or unfair. That's the whole concept of a SR line, to fill in the spaces left by odd numbers lol. And when I was the single rider, that was fun too.

The whole ride is lit and watched by cameras, you are in a restraint, and you could just totally ignore the person next to you. Of any ride to tweak about a SR line, that ride made no sense.

The line rarely feels as long as you think it's going to feel. I've learned that anything up to 45 min is ok for that line. The ride is faboo and I like the queue for some reason. I won't even deal with standby line at DHS' version. Hate that building and the way the sound bounces off the walls.

Oh I would love to see a FP line for this ride! It is one of our favorites, but sometimes we pass it up based on the fact that we don't want to wait forever!

A child separated from their family paired with a stranger adult, created a potentially bad situation. I don't know if there was actually an incident, but have heard this is the reason single rider was removed.

A first time rider novice paired with a frequent rider super expert, would be no fun for the novice. This situation was likely quite common.

GSS has the same 2 & 2 seating configuration and SR is going strong. A child under 7 can't ride without their parents anyway. If the parents have an issue with being paired with an SR, they should ride with their child over 7.

I think the reasons were that despite the lines, the ride is not as popular as it was when it opened. There is no dedicated SR line, so that left room for only a few people to actually wait for SR, not enough to really impact the line. And, it's a bench seat, which is the least ideal of all SR options.

I just hope they are talking about regular FP, and not walking around the parks trying to figure out ways that FP+ would work with all the rides, so they can bring it to DL. We feel so much more relaxed at DL, than we do at WDW now. We enjoy getting away from FP+!

I think this is the case. The rumor has been for a while that some kind of FP+ system will be coming to Disneyland. The question is not so much if, but more of a when. I think FP+ could work in the park if it was just a digitalized FP system that could be utilized with phones and kiosks in place of the current machine and ticket system. This would especially be nice for booking Fantasmic and WOC FP as some people want specific colors or times for their FP, but the current system doesn't allow guests to choose. A digital system could allow guests to choose which show time they wanted for any particular show at the parks including Aladdin and Mickey and Magical Map. However, I don't think a system that requires guests to plan things out months in advance would work well at Disneyland at all. Too much of a different demographic with locals and other AP holders stopping by on a whim, etc. Guests should still need to be present at the park to make their FP reservations. Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear both suddenly have FP again. It's like they are looking for more rides to add FP too so they can effectively have a FP+ system of some kind.

I think it would be nice if they upgraded this ride with another track like they are doing to the one at WDW. I know the line is not as long as the one at WDW, but it's still a pretty long line considering the general wait time at other non-thrill attractions in DCA. I could absolutely see them adding legacy to TSMM. I don't consider it an indication that FP+ is coming.

When I see them walking around Fantasyland trying to figure out where to put the FP return lines, I'll start to worry.

The new Disneyland app does not even allow booking dining, it just links to a browser. The DL app needs to allow creating and modifying dining reservations (and other features supported in the WDW app), before trying to integrate FP (of any type).

Right now they seem incapable of even booking ADRs by phone! (cough.... cough..... October.....)

Then why does my son love riding with his dad so much?

You either pay NO attention to the rider next to you, or you pay attention. If a novice is letting an expert get under their skin so much, just don't pay attention. We aren't actually winning prizes for this. The ONLY reason I pay attention to the number is because my son asks me, because we don't let him win things just b/c he's a kid (never have), and he looks forward to the day when he beats us!

When I was SR with a newbie (or when I was one-of-3 being turned into a SR, being paired with an actual SR) I would HELP them. They always appreciated it and we ended up laughing and having so much fun. They could have ignored, me, too. Didn't matter. No one's winning prizes.


The kid-with-stranger thing is just parents wanting to torture themselves with paralyzing fears. Brightly lit. Under surveillance. Being swung around repeatedly and therefore in the view of others. With restraints. And playing a super-fun game!

Trust me, I can paralyze myself in the middle of the night with "what ifs" just fine. But my kid riding TSMM with a "stranger" he's randomly paired with? Not on my radar.

And he goes SR on RSR with TWO strangers next to him. And that's darker than TSMM!


I just miss that line. Was so great for my solo trips, and let me sit next to *someone* when I was the odd man out. Sniffle. Next time we go I'm finding parties of 3 in the line, or solos, and inviting them to ride with me. (OK now THAT's creepy LOL)

It would be really easy to reroute the line and have them merge where you get the 3D glasses.
