TSMM and RSR twice in one day

Okay - so we want to try to ride TSMM and RSR twice in one day - on a day we can be there about 30 minutes before rope drop.

So - it will be on a Wednesday in mid-July. Can someone suggest a strategy? We can do single rider on RSR if that helps. I think our tolerance for a stand-by line will be about 20 minutes (30 tops). And we don't care when a FP return time might be - just hoping to be able to get one for each. Can this idea work?

Beyond this goal - our day is totally flexible and we expect it to be a full park day (hoppers). While I'm a WDW vet, my touring companion is new to a Disney park. We will have two half days in the parks before this full day - but both of those days we won't be arriving until mid-afternoon. We aren't planning a commando trip - it's a bit more a smell the roses type approach - shopping, picture taking, parade watching, food eating, oh - look - that line is short let's get in that type day - except for those two rides. Well, a handful of other rides are required over the entire trip at some point - Star Tours, POTC, IASW, and Haunted Mansion.

And we are NOT headed to the Frozen show or Soarin or WOC - so getting FPs for those don't need to be in the mix.

Man - sorry DLR lovers the way it is - but I really wish DLR had FP+ already.

You probably wouldn't be doing headline attractions twice in one day with FP+. With legacy at DLR, I like your odds.

There are no FP for TSMM. I think you'd be lucky to ride it once with only a 30 minute wait in July. Maybe if you did it first and then either immediately a second time or try again during WOC, but the WOC might not thin the line down to under 30 min, it's still July.

I think you'd also be lucky to go through SR for RSR twice under 30 min. You can try standby early and then FP later for that, but again, it's July, the wait with FP can easily top 20 min at DLR.

I did this. Upon opening, I grabbed Fast Passes for RSR, then went straight to TSMM and rode it twice in a row (waiting in line a second time, not staying on the ride). Then I grabbed Fast Passes for RSR later in the day (before they were all gone).

We were at DCA a few weeks ago and rode RSR 3 times and Toy Story twice. We arrived about an hour after the park opened and went to RSR after picking up Frozen FPs. We picked up RSR FPs for about 3 pm then rode twice via the single rider line. The wait was about 5-10 minutes each time.

We rode Toy Story mid afternoon then again about a half hour before the park closed. We also fit in 2 rides on ToT and 1 ride on just about everything else.

For comparison purposes, we've went to WDW during the same time of year the past two summers and found that we could get a lot more done with FP+.

An average day would get us on Toy Story 5 times, 2-3 times on RnRC and 5-6 times on Tower. We found DCA to be much more crowded.

Toy story was a bust for us in the four days we were at Disney this past week. Only one morning did we ride it twice and that was with the ride being down during EMH and not fully operational until 8:15 or so. We rode it once with a 10 minute wait and by the time we came out there was a massive line. We waited about 25 minutes. One day we didn't ride it at all because it was down in the morning and 45 minute waits the rest of the day.

RSR on the other hand was great for us this trip. We rode a minimum of 3 times per day utilizing EMH, fast passes and single rider. One day we rode 4 times. Two in the morning with FP and two at night with single rider. We were about 10 people back in the FP line at 8am and got our first FP for 8:35. Then we got another after we rode for like 11:30.

Stay on site and use EMH - one morning we walked on TSMM 3 times in a row. Would have gone a 4th but for sore arms!

ah, but with FP+ at WDW, on the days I'm arriving late in the day, I can get those FP+ in advance and not have to worry about them running out because I can't get there before they run out for the day.

I think we will try this. RSR does have single rider, even if we don't get the second FP, this might work,

Not impossible, I do it all the time. FP+ for TSM, then go to it at RD as well. I would either do singer rider for RnR twice, or head over right after doing TSM first thing in the morning. It depends on the time of year. When I go in off season, the wait can be as low as 30 min.

I've also booked early FP+ choices, then booked RnR as the extra 4th FP when I use up the first 3.

Hope that helps. Enjoy your trip! :)

Absolutely that's one of the advantages of FP+. But we just never arrive late, so not an issue for us.

For us, the loss of the ability to reride headliners by FP is just too big a loss to ever prefer FP+. Don't even get me started on the tiering.

Between using fast passes and single rider line for RSR, you should be able to do both twice rather easily! In the morning, you can easily go on RSR three or four times in the first hour by using single rider.

How does FP+ prevent you from reriding the headliners? When at WDW, we never arrive at a park before 10:30 or 11 am and still hit the headliners as many times as we want to. We've found FP+ much more efficient than the original version.

I didn't say it kept you from reriding. I said it kept you from reriding by FP (since so many of the headliners run out faster than they used to, some of them before the park even opens).

I'm glad it has worked out for you though.

100% THIS!!!!

EMH is the only time we ever ride TSMM because you don't have to wait.......you could ride this and then head over to RSR and be one of the first in line, and then you could get fp after your ride.

One of the reasons we love EMH's.

We rode it during EMH last October. The was no line at all. They had all the chains closed off and the entrance was straight from the Boardwalk. We could have done it over and over if we wanted. It was pretty much just a few steps from the Boardwalk to the ride vehicle. I remember thinking that heads at WDW would be swimming at the sight of that!

Thanks for the clarification. FP+ seems to be pushing the crowds to arrive earlier in the morning, which results in really thin crowds in the evening even in the middle of summer. Disneyland crowds seem to stay in the parks later into the evening. Our WDW late night strategy doesn't work as well in California.

It didn't look like anyone has pointed out that typically Wed is EMH at DCA, so being early for RD may not provide you with much of an edge. I agree, that EMH at DCA (especially a 7AM one) is great for doing multiple walk on to TSMM. On a typical EMH, we'll do RSR first, then go to TSMM and ride that a couple of times, then go to Screamin' and/or TOT.

If you don't mind single rider, you can do RSR multiple times in a day if you keep an eye on wait times. Last summer in July, we rode it at least 3 times in a row in the single rider line with no wait in the middle of the afternoon. We rode it multiple other times single rider in our 5 days in the park with waits of 20 minutes or less. You want to ride it after dark at some point if you can- it is like a whole different ride at night.

TSM if you can get there at rope drop on a non-early hour day or if you are using early hours, that is your best bet if you want a wait of 20 minutes or less. The lines aren't like WDW used to be before the new track opened- but it is usually a 30 to 45 minute wait most of the day in July in our experience.

Oh rats, I forgot about that...... Man - I'm really wishing my touring plans were not being dictated by the fact I'm really in Anaheim to go to conference for work!!!!
