TSM standby-less test Oct. 6-9

As much as I prefer legacy FP to FP+, I have heard that MM+ has improved overall guest satisfaction. What it has not done, is increased guest spending, which is probably what has prompted the introduction of so many premium events.

I like some aspects of the new system. I like the Mickey Bands. I love that I can get into my room by tapping the band rather than fishing out a room key. I like seeing all my "stuff" in one place on my account. I admit FP+ has an advantage over legacy FP for arrival day. If anything, the new system has DEcreased our spending. Sheer annoyance with so many things has led me to book a four night trip this year instead of our usual 8-10 night trip. Instead of 8 day park hoppers plus two party tickets, we bought one day park hoppers and one party ticket. We did add the Wishes Dessert Party, but that is our only additional expense. DD has outgrown the Pirate Adventure, Bibbidi Bobbidi, Kids Clubs and the Wonderland Tea. We don't have time for Pirates League with such a short trip. I am not a shopper by nature anyway, but I will admit that now and then those gift shops at the end of every ride do get me to pick something up I didn't plan to pick up. Fewer park days = fewer rides = fewer gift shops = fewer impulse purchases = more money in my pocket!! :thumbsup2

Talking polls and data- just read the thread with the poll on rating your last WDW vacation - the results sure seem convincing that people are pretty satisfied with the direction Disney is taking.

When you consider how reluctant people are to change , I was surprised to see those results however unscientific they may be.

No No NO...you (the royal or personal) do not get to claim that the numerous threads, polls etc here on the DIS or even on WDW's own Facebook page complaining about MDE/FP+ are not a representative sample of what people really feel (a tired and well abused insistence of many pro FP+ people) and then use a thread here on the DIS to prove (unscientifically or otherwise) that "people are pretty satisfied with teh Direction Disney is taking".

No. Can't have it both ways.

There's not a chance they invested this much money without knowing exactly what they were getting and how it would work for them. If that's how they did business, they would've been gone long ago.

But we'll just have to disagree on that.

As I said, even polling from this board shows a pretty high percentage of satisfaction. Looks like there's more that like it than don't.

Yeah, we'll have to disagree on that. The way I see it, there really isn't a way to know what will happen until it is tested. I don't have a problem with testing...it is an evil necessary. I DO have a problem with unannounced testing. That is a pretty cruddy thing to do IMO. I was one of the "lucky" ones that got caught up in Pop having MB only last Dec. Did it ruin my trip no, but I def got a lot less done under the old system. That trip was just me an a friend though. I am willing to keep a somewhat open mind for how FP+ will work with kiddos.

Ya know if they just did away with all this fp stuff and opened all the ques and ran them at the full capacity, probably wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes in a line anyway

But then how are they going to get everyone to wear magic bands? FP+ is just the gateway drug.

Not a chance they didn't know exactly what would happen? Uh, who else has done something remotely similar?

If this statement doesn't demonstrate a blind trust in Disney corporate, I don't know what does.

Yeah, we'll never agree here.

What's funny about this, is I wear mine, and I really have zero reason to.

At most, I need my card/magicband 5 times.
Parking (if it works), entry, 3 FP+.
But I wear it, cause it seems like the "disney" thing to do.
Hook, line, sinker.

I really hope this isn't true..... for so very many reasons.

But if you think about it...... it could never work. Where is everyone going to be if they aren't in line? Seriously. They would have to remodel the return lines for the vast majority of the rides in the parks. And they would have to widen all the walkways. They would need a second ring around the Hub in the MK just to accommodate all the foot traffic........ oh wait.........

Surely you weren't about to also suggest that they add attractions. ;)

You mean like..... NET NEW ATTRACTIONS? :teeth:

If so then no. Because that would just be one more place people weren't waiting in lines! :lmao:

I actually like my magic band. Especially at the waterparks. Let everyone reserve one FP+ ahead of time and the add other FP's to the band in the parks following legacy FP guidelines (and independently of the advanced FP.) Not sure if it would work logistically, but I'd be a pretty happy camper.

And what about all that money spent on interactive cool new standby lines Disney even talked about putting in??

This would make me pretty happy too. I've been saying the same thing for about 10 months. best of both worlds in my opinion.

When I was at Universal this summer I saw alot of people wearing their magic trackers. I wonder if they work over there? :rolleyes1

If you read what I said originally, I said it was unscientific and it is. It's a very skewed poll- question is, which way?

You can't have it both ways either

You can't tout complaints from facebook and reports here and there about skewed surveys as evidence if you don't want to look at the polls that don't say what you want to hear.

I don't think any of them are good sources, and think none of them prove anything- but since you thought fb was, you must surely think the dis poll is a good source as well.

YES!
SEE - this has been my contention since the get go. Play with your fancy, habit-tracking technology all you want, but set up the system to mimic old FP.

Yeah, we'll never agree here.

What would actually happen? No. Of course it has to be put into action- What's happening looks pretty good to them apparently as they're continuing on with it. I'm pretty happy with it, that's for sure.

But what it would do, what it's supposed to do and extensive research and analysis as to whether or not it could do it? You bet they did. Or maybe they didn't and the brilliance of the Dis knows better than Disney how to run their business.

Ah yes....My opinions are what they are because I am blind to the truth...it's an old excuse that comes around every few days here.
