TSM FP strategy

We're headed to DHS on a day that Touring Plans marks it as a best park to visit. Crowd level gives the day a 4. We've never ridden TSM or R&R Coaster and we're excited!
I think we'll want to ride TSM more than once. Would you go straight to the FP line at rope drop then get into the standby line? Or would you get in the standby line, ride, then get the FP? Then we will head to R&R then TofT before slowing our roll to enjoy the rest of the park.

There are advantages for both strategies and you will receive opinions on both sides.:)

Personally,I would,at Rope Drop, ride first, get the FASTPASS and then do ToT followed by RnRC.:)

I would get a FP then ride--
riding then getting the FP pushes the time higher and higher.

head to get another FP for Tot then ride RnR by then our FP time for ToT should be ready.

I'm with the crowd that says at RD, get a FP for TSM and then ride.

On a crowd level 4 day, I would say you wouldn't need to FP RnR, or ToT, just head over there after TSM and go though the standby line, it shouldn't be that much of a wait. Sometimes you spend more time getting the FPs for these rides and waiting for the return times and criss-crossing the park.

This is what I would do if I think two rides on TSM will be enough.

But if I think I want 3 rides, then I would get the FP first, so as to be eligible for a second round of FPs before the TSM FPs run out. The disadvantage of this approach is that the standby line wait will be longer after getting the FPs than it would be if I rode standby first thing at Rope Drop.

And, with either plan, I would aim to get to the park by 8:40 (which is probably later than most Rope Drop folks would advise, but I'm not a big fan of standing in line very long at the Rope).

The way we did it on our recent trip was this. We would get there at ropedrop. One member of the party (my mom) would try to get ahead of us in the crowd. She would run ahead and get TSM fastpasses for everyone while we were still walking w/ the crowd to TSM. Once we got there we waited for her to come to the stand by line and then got in it. That gave us 2 rides without having to long of a wait for the fastpass return.

As for the other two thrill rides, what we saw when we were there is that they never really got that busy until later in the day. We often were able to ride TSM, then walk over to ToT and get on it with a 20 minute or less wait. RnRC seemed to be a bit longer, so maybe get your next fastpass with that one. Or else just see which one has the longer line/fastpass return time fits your schedule better and get that one and ride the other standby.

Definitely get the FP for TSM before getting in the standby line if you plan to ride it twice. From there go to RNR, then ToT. :thumbsup2
