TSA Precheck question

I think they are talking about children under 13. They can go in the tsa precheck line with an adult who has precheck even if the children's boarding passes don't say it. We have taken our grandkids with us through the line many times.

Yes re: kids. But the adult they are accompanying still has to have PreCheck on their boarding pass. Just having a card that gives you the PreCheck privilege (Global Entry, SENTRI, NEXUS, and the TSA PreCheck program) without the boarding pass notation does not let a person use the PreCheck line.

I got the precheck on all our boarding passes. I was just concerned about my 7 and 9 year olds' boarding passes but they have precheck on them as well.

The only weird thing is that I'm flying American and I have the American credit card from Barclays (the old US Air one). I got zone 1 boarding on my boarding pass whereas my wife and kids got Priority Access on theirs. They seem very similar but it just seems odd to me that they have slightly "better" access and I'm the one with the card. Doesn't actually matter, just wondering.

Yes, you have to have pre-check on the boarding pass in order to take children with you. It's the first thing I look for when printing boarding passes.

My husband and I have had Global Entry for the past two years. We've had the TSA PreCheck designation on our board passes for every flight that we've had except for the past Fall when we flew with our kids out of MCO. My husband had TSA PreCheck, so he took one child with him through TSA PreCheck and another stayed with me in the regular line (we didn't want to have him with all the carryons and 2 kids, even though he could have taken two kids). I repeatedly called the airline prior to arriving at MCO and asked at the ticket counter, but no luck getting a new boarding pass with TSA PreCheck on it for me. They said that TSA PreCheck is not guaranteed as the other posters have noted and that sometimes, passengers are randomly not selected for TSA PreCheck even they are eligible for TSA PreCheck.

Was the flight on an airline you don't normally travel on, or United or Alaska? With those airlines, DH always had to type in his number in order to get Pre on his boarding pass. With Delta it just shows up, but U and A if he didn't type it in (even if it was right there), he didn't get it. So when he gets a boarding pass without it, we go back through the process and type in his GE number, and then Pre will show up.

I think once DS is 13 and won't be eligible when traveling with his dad, we'll pay to get Pre for all of us.

Though it does say right on the Pre page, where I just went to see if it ends at 12 or goes through 12: "TSA incorporates unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no passenger is guaranteed expedited screening."
