I just had my first experience with the new TSA security procedures two hours ago and I just wanted to let all the people concerned about them know that it isn't bad. I was at the Rochester, NY airport and they randomly selected people, including me and my mom. My sister went through the regular metal detector they always have. Both my mom and myself opted out of scanner for fear of radiation and instead had to have one of the new pat downs. We both thought they were fine and not intrusive at all, which is what I was afraid of. The agent did however try to talk us out of the pat down and was rather rude; I don't think they like doing them. The new procedures did not seem to hold up the security lines either. I will say however that the pat down does take more time so if we were cutting it close to our flight time we would have gone through the scanners despite the radiation. All in all it was a good experience for it being airport security.
