I hope this isn't too off-topic. Has anyone here bought the new "tsa aproved" laptop cases-can you use them, or does the TSA make you take them out anyway? :sad2:
Thanks.

There was a sign at our airport last week that made it clear that you must take your laptop out UNLESS it is in one of the new TSA approved cases.

I always keep my laptop in the bag at PHL, but MCO makes me take it out because I keep the power cord for the laptop in the bag.

While the bag has to be appropriate, this points out that the owner also has to pack it correctly as well in order to be able to leave it in the bag.

I have a bag that is basically just a sleeve with a strap and I have never had a problem leaving my laptop in the bag at MCO or other airports. To leave it in the bag, the laptop must be alone in the bag with nothing on top or bottom (including buckles or stuffed pockets) or beside it, such as a power cord.

I do appreciate not having to take it out of the bag going thru security. It makes it much easier when collecting everything at the end of the belt. -- Suzanne

I have one of the neoprene sleeves and only my laptop is in it. I never have to remove the laptop from the sleeve as it is one of the approved carriers.

I bought a sleeve before they went to this new policy, and I've been using it ever since. Gives the laptop a little extra protection, and I've not had to remove it once the policy changed.

I have my laptop in a neoprene sleeve and it remains in the sleeve through security. Before the new laptop bag rules went into effect most security checkpoints allowed me to keep it inside the sleeve. MCO was always an exception. I have not had a problem since the new rules went into effect.

Thanks everyone!

I have not bought the new bags because the "requirments" mean that they don't hold as much as the old one I have. So if you travel with a lot of stuff be sure to check that.
