Expert Senior Meteorologist Dan Kottlowski says at 4:00 PM EST Gamma's poorly-defined center was located approximately 40 miles north of Limon, Honduras and about 190 miles east-southeast of Belize City, Belize. Sustained tropical storm force winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts, extending outward up to 85 miles.

Gamma is producing considerable cloudiness and shower and thunderstorm activity. 6-10" of rain is expected to fall on Belize, western Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, with 4-8" and locally higher amounts expected in northwest Honduras.

According to Kottlowski Gamma is forecast to reach the coast of Belize late tonight or early on Saturday. The storm will weaken if it makes landfall, but if it remains over water it will maintain tropical storm strength as it parallels the coast of the Yucatan peninsula through the weekend.

Kottlowski forecasts moisture from Gamma will eventually be picked up by a trough that would shoot it to the northeast, reaching Cuba and possibly south Florida as early as Monday.

I just saw the info on the news...they have it projected to follow the same path that Wilma took. :worried:

Only 12 more days left in the season...

Unfortunately I don't think so. I am so sick of hurricanes! And we still have people with roof damage and tree damage and piles of trash from Wilma. Just what we do not need.

Thanks to Wilma, we have leaks in our roof and need a new one. We haven't been able to find anyone to come out and give an estimate, let alone fix it. Even if it stays a tropical storm, I am sure our little tarps won't stand up to the winds. Guess I better stock up on towels and buckets......SIGH. There goes what little fence I had left, and I am sure the rest of my Tiki hut roof will go. I need to move. Anybody know of a nice place to live that doesn't have hurricanes or earthquakes, kid friendly, nice seasons--not too hot--not too cold, close to a large airport (hubby is an air traffic controller), etc? Any ideas. I have to get out of here.

Louisville or Cincy? They get cold, but not as...

Anne

The good news, my insurance adjuster hasn't come yet, so if I get anymore damage, he can do it all in one visit!

Cincinnati and Louisville have large airports, Lexington, KY is smaller but is one of the fastest growing in the country. The area is kid friendly, with Six Flags and kings Island close by. Zoos are around, lots of nature and the Ohio River. Mountains in southeast, KY, etc. Many people are relocating to this area.

Now the drawbacks. You have the occasional tornado outbreaks, the weather is very "seasonal"-it did not even hit 35 for a high yesterday. Flooding along the rivers/streams is a problem. Plus the "experts" say that a large magnitude earthquake is due to hit western KY near the Mississippi River in the next 40 years. :teeth:

Hopefully the canes will stay away!!

The season that never ends. Amazing isnt it. And sadly hurricanes dont follow calendars and the latest storm to form was December 29 until Jan 3 and earlistes March 30 - April 5.

I am going to start making forecasts for my continuing Tampa Bay's 10 internship. I am thinking of making own thread out of it. People interested in me posting?
