We want to go to some of the nicer TS restaurants, but don't want to pay $$$$ for meals my teenagers won't eat. Can they still order from the kids menu?? (Ages 14 & 15). Or sharing meals, has anyone been charged to do so?

Don't worry! Your kids can order from the kids' menu, even adults can. They can also turn a kid size portion into an adult size portion. You will have to pay a bit more, but it isn't a lot. We also found that if they don't like anything on the menu, you can usually get pasta or items from the lunch menu.

In your situation I would consider leaving the picky teens at the pool for the evening with the food court/pool menu and let the adults enjoy an adult evening or 2 at some of the nicer places. :thumbsup2

I second the thought of leaving the picky teens at the hotel pool with the food court for dinner. just leave them a cell phone in case they need you and have a great time enjoying a meal that would bore them.

Wish I'd thought of leaving the teens at the pool!!! We've had great success at Biergarten in Germany @ Epcot. The buffet has many items and even my picky teenager claimed she "was too full to walk". We make it a "must" every trip.

Disney will make everyone feel welcome, and yes they can order from the children's menu, or split an adult meal. Anyone can split an adult meal. Or they could each order an appetizer for dinner and then have dessert.

I agree with everyone who says they can turn a kids meal into an adult sized meal. Or, it's likely that they'll be able to find chicken or something on the adult menu that they'll eat. I'm 16 and am not the most adventurous eater, and I always find something.

Pretty much every restaurant has a steak on their menu, and you can sub most of the sides for fries, mashed potatoes, or something like that.

I changed our Dining plan to the counterservice for this reason. I couldn't see paying adult price for a sit down or buffet when my kids are picky and don't eat much.

Many places will let them order from the kids menu but they usually double the price so it's not much of a savings. I seriously doubt 1 adult meal without apps and desserts will be enough for 2 teens though. My son is almost 13 and last year he had absolutely no problem eating an entire adult meal and adult dessert. He's pretty picky so he stuck mostly to steak and pasta dishes. They will always leave off sauces and such. My kids (other one was 11) did share 1 adult TS meal last trip and no they don't charge you but at that meal they also each ate a full adult dessert which was huge. If they didn't have a split app and each a dessert they would have been hungry I'm pretty sure. They are both slender but with all the walking they get hungrier than normal.

They can also often "create" a dish they would like. DS likes thing super simple and one place fixed him a simple pasta dish that was no where on the menu, we justed asked. We were on the DDP so no idea how they would charge. Got an udult size "kid meal" a few times as well. No way would a kids meal been enough for him/

In 2006... With "Picky" kids of 14, 15, and 16....

They REALLY enjoyed the evening we ordered them Pizza & Cokes in the room... (OOP) and DH and I went out for a "date" night....to a TS meal....

You could possibly 'take' two of their TS credits and even do a signature...

Just be careful ordering pizza from a reputable company... Domino's, etc....

Last visit there... At BCV May 2010 there were door markers from a 'local' pizza company... they guy who brought our luggage out was telling us they take the credit card over the phone and never deliver the pizza....

Hugs,
Mary
