1. Can you walk in a TS and order a dessert to go?

2. If your child doesn't like anything on the menu at a TS, can he just sit there and not order anything? (we would feed him beforehand) would this be considered rude? (we would tip as if he did order)

I don't know about the carry out dessert, but we routinely don't order meals for my kids. They'll eat an appetizer, or eat off our plates, I don't think it is rude at all.

I would just send your DS to one of the fun Kids Club Disney operates in resorts after 4:30 pm. My kids have gone to Simba (at AKL) and Mouseketeer (GF) and they had a great time. I don't think it would be fun for a child to sit through a TS meal, after having eaten, with nothing to do. At the kids clubs, they feed them a kids meal and they can play with other kids, play video games, do crafts, etc. Just an option to consider!

1. Can you walk in a TS and order a dessert to go? If you're asking about walking up to the podium and asking for a dessert to go, the TS restaurants aren't set up for take out, although you may be able to do this if the restaurant isn't busy. If you make a reservation, get seated, then order just a dessert to go, you would probably be able to do this. It wouldn't be much different than finishing your entree and finding you're too full for dessert. Servers have offered to box up desserts for us.

2. If your child doesn't like anything on the menu at a TS, can he just sit there and not order anything? (we would feed him beforehand) would this be considered rude? (we would tip as if he did order) I don't think it's rude, but would your son mind? Maybe there's an appetizer or a side dish that he would like or he could share something from your plate. The only times he'll be charged regardless of whether he eats or not is at the buffets, family style meals and dinner shows.

If a restaurant is a buffet or an all-you-can-eat, it doesn't matter if your kid eats or not. You will be charged full price for all members of your party.

Personally, I don't know of a kid who would be happy stuck at a table while other people are eating, no matter how well-behaved a kid. If your kid doesn't like what's on the menu, I'd just find somewhere else to eat.

Thanks, everyone. I want to eat at Les Chef de France, but I am not sure DS is going to find something he will eat. He will be 10 and have to order from the adult menu, but I really want to eat there. I guess I will just wait and see when we get there. I think all my other choices will be fine.

Most of the restaurants will let him (or anyone) order from the children's menu. If you're on the dining plan you can always pay OOP for a child's meal and save his adult credit for another meal.

If there's something interesting on the adult menu, like a steak or chicken, but he's hesitant about the sauce or side dishes, ask to have it served plain or with a different side dish. Likewise check the appetizers and accompaniments for options. I've found that Disney is very accomodating and will try their best to help your family.

So, if DH and I use our TS credit, DS can order off the child menu and we can pay that oop. They wouldn't question why he isn't using his credit?

Not generally, Will totally depend on the restaurant and even on who you happen to ask.

Should work unless it's a fixed price restaurant (one at which you pay per person, not per item ordered).

Make sure you specify to the server before you order that his meal will be paid with cash and not the dining plan. They shouldn't have any comment. If they do, just say you prefer to pay for his meal with cash, and ask for a child's menu.

I was thinking if you were going to let him have his dinner prior, he could have dessert while you are eating your entrees?
