My husband and I just upgraded our Iphone's so we are wanting to sell our old ones. They are both in great working condition. Have any of you used an online cell phone selling website with any success, there are a lot out there and they are offering quite a bit but it makes me nervous. I'm considering that or the Ebay route, am open to ANY suggestions....

My phone stopped working while I was in FL and I checked out ebay for a replacement while I was there. I found lots of used (or used once, yeah right) phones that were the same as I had but way higher prices than what I paid for mine at home. there were 3 in Fl and I was willing to do a reasonable BIN and drive to pick it up if I could get it for about $50. these phones were selling for 4150 and up on ebay and I got mine for $29.99 with a 2 year contract from AT&T.
Every seller had NO REFUNDS or NO RETURNS clearly stated on their site.
I didn't buy because I knew these phones were guaranteed to have problems.
If you want to sell it I am sure there will be someone who is interested, just check out some of the past sales on ebay. Just make sure you do put no returns or refunds clearly in a few places.

My wife recently upgraded to an Iphone 3Gs and she sold her old 8G Iphone 3G for $220 to a guy from Craigslist. She searched Craigslist in our area and found several ads for people looking to buy Iphones and offering around $200. We met this guy at a local mall and he gave us cash for her phone.

We did wipe the phone first (search online for directions) to make sure that none of her personal info was left in there. From what she saw, jailbroken phones were going for a bit more, so if you're able to jailbreak your phones before you sell them you might be able to do even better.

The phones are very inexpensive when you sign up for your contract or renew...that is part of the hook to get you sign up for 2 years.

People who want a new phone before their contract expires or who break their phone and need a new one are typically the ones who want to buy on ebay or craigslist. To buy from the retailer without a contract would cost "full price" for the phone. Also, if you have a phone that is sold exclusively by one company, such as an iPhone, people who have service with other companies that want an iPhone will pay for an unlocked phone.

I would try eBay or craigslist. I think you will have success in selling.

Do Ebay. That's where you'll probably get the most money out of it. I couldn't believe I got $200 for my old iPhone that wasn't even in perfect working condition. People use them for parts, I think.

I would try Gazelle.com. We sold a few things to them - excellent service, no problems at all.

Thanks guys! I ended up doing Ebay and got $225.00 each, can't believe it!!!!:cool1::banana:

Just curious - were they 2 years old and you still got that much? Our contract expires in the summer and I would like to get new 3GS phones but my DH is reluctant to spend the $$. If I could get that much for our phones, that would probably help!

Vicki, my wife was able to upgrade essentially for free. She had an 8G 3G that was in excellent shape, since it had been in a case for all of it's life. As I said above, she sold it to a guy on craigslist for $220, but since she was eligible for an upgrade she only paid $199 for her new 16G 3Gs... by the time you add tax and the $18 upgrade fee she still came out a couple of dollars behind, but upgrading to a 3Gs for only a couple of dollars was pretty good in my book;)

My wife searched craigslist for a couple of days and once she had an offer she bought the new phone locally one morning, transfered all her info over, then wiped the old phone and we met the craigslist guy in the afternoon.

One thing I will note is that she's noticed that the battery life on her 3Gs is not as good as her 3G. With the 3G she was able to make it through an entire day on a single charge, although occasionally it would die late in the evening if she used it a lot or used WiFi during the day. With the new phone it's rare that she makes it all the way to bedtime without it dying or getting charged during the day. I suppose that's the price you pay for a faster processor.

Thanks Brett - definitely something to consider - we have an 8G phone and a 16G phone and they're both in good shape -- not sure why I went a new one anyway - guess it's to make up for the fact that the iPad's not in the budget! LOL! :lmao:
