Trying to price out if it is worth it split THIS way:

"If disney goes back to strict enforcement of the plan, this all falls apart. We won't know what will happen in 2018 until then"?

Really? They used to enforce 'no sharing' of dining credits in the past? on QS I'm not even sure how that is possible. I need to know 100% for sure tho because we definately will share or theres no point in buying it
"No Sharing" in this context meant that an adult could NOT order a kid's meal and use the kid's credit, to leave their adult credit for another meal. Or vice versa for those larger teen tummies...

Right now it seems pretty flexible! But it does require a LOT of planning around food.

-Ah, but they DO let an adult use credits to buy another adult meal at QS or TS, yes? Personally, I would not WANT to use my Adult credits (which are quite expensive) for a kids meal - far better to pay OOP or let the kid eat off my plate. I also think Disney would be foolish to 'enforce' that anyhow- they are selling a kid meal for an adult price - so why should they mind? Those adult meal credits are quite expensive; so they are getting a windfall anyhow...

The no sharing meant you were limited to the number of meals to people

2 a 2 c then that is all you can order

Go to a qs counter w a child, nope no adult meal for the child

They stopped this about 18 months ago

However, there is nothing to stop them from starting again
There is nothing to stop them from breaking up cs credits and dxdp credits to adult and child split credits

My point is we know what they are doing NOW. There is nothing to stop disney from changing it up again

If I recall at one point everyone getting meal plan had to present at checkin. I think this was during free dining and people were adding fake children to their reservation

Fake children? I can't believe people would do that - really despicable and dishonest. As far as changing the rules, sure, they COULD just stop the program completely, start a new one etc etc... but IF they decide to change the rules, I would assume they would NOT do that for people who have already PAID for the plan, yes? In other words, if I make a deal and pay now for a certain plan that gives me x number of credits to use anyway I wish AND pay for it, I don't think Disney would dare to change the rules for those folks who have ALREADY paid and signed up for that plan with that understanding of the rules in 'the middle of the game' so to speak, do you?

All these little changes are not in writing. The plan literature would not have to change one bit to be enforced differently

I don't know if they will. I was shocked when they changed to let you pay for someone else's meal w a credit to be honest.

I mention it only because with 2018 alcohol being added, this is a big change. Will they change anything else to go with this? Would truly be the perfect time to break out all credits w child adult designations

And yes, fake children. 2 adults, 2 fake children. Good times

The 'fake kids' thing I find extremely dishonest - I would never accept that being done to me, and certainly never do it to someone else. Seems like a small number of dishonest people (fake kids etc) made a problem for the vast majority of honest folks.

As for changing plans AFTER someone already agreed to AND PAID for an agreed upon plan for CASH, I don't think that's right. Why? Because you paid for a deal with certain terms. DDP is not a 'gift' (unless its 'free dining'), it is a purchase. If I purchase something under certain terms I expect the terms will be honored by both parties - isn't that what buying a plan means? A deal is a deal. If one side wants to change it, don't they need to disclose that BEFORE money is exchanged? If they give me 'free dining' then I think they have the right to make any rules up they want, but I am referring to a paid plan...

For sure, except that if you dig around in the fine print, the dining plan portion of the contract states that restaurants NOT owned by Disney don't have to follow those rules (which is why they don't accept dining plans), and for the Disney ones, Disney reserves the right to change, edit or modify anything in the contract without notice, justification or compensation. Also a lot of things are up to the restaurant's manager for that day and shift so just because one server was able to "let you do it", the next time they might not be able to. :( If the suppliers ran out of cornmeal, there would be no compensation to guests over losing their tradition of "eating corn dogs for breakfast" that day.
