Hi

I've just found this site and think its great!!

We got engaged in sept this year and are trying to plan our wedding in walt disney world florida as I'm a HUGE disney fan

We want to get married in sept 2008 but I'm not sure when I will be able to book this with disney and it takes weeks to get any information sent from them.

Also there is only going to be about 20 of us flying over from the UK and I'm not sure what wedding to go for either do a custom one or the intimate package. I did not realsie you dont get a meal with the intimate package and wonder if its worth spending the extra to go for the custom one.
I was going to add on things to the intimate package anyway.

Also When you plan your wedding with disney do you get to pick most things such as flowers and cakes? I have been onto their website and have a wishbook but I'm still very unsure as to what you get.

Sorry for asking all these questions and I do apoligise if theya re already on the forum somewhere but your help would be very helpful having most of you been through a disney wedding

I look forward to hearing from you all and look forward to reading all the posts as this is my first time on here

Hi welcome. I would suggest you go through old threads about Intimate weddings. There is lots of information. You do get to make some choices on flowers and cake, but not many. If you have more than 18 guests. the 20 includes you and your groom. Then you have to have a custom. I would just look through and read what comes with the package and compare what you want to add on and see if it would be better to have a custom. Everyone here is very helpful and I'm sure you will have a great wedding.

Welcome to the DISboards! And Congrats on being engaged! Don't appoligize for asking questions, that's what we're here for!

As far as flowers and cakes, you can choose from designs they already have or you can pick what you like and work with the Disney Floral Dept and create something you will love!

You can't get anything in stone till at least 1yr from the day of the wedding but you can call DFTW and get an idea of what they offer and try to get an idea of Intimate or Custom. It's not an easy descision, but it's one we all had to make! Hopefully, we can answer any types of questions you may come up with! Just let us know! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your help so far , you are all so friendly!

When I called WDW they said I could book 18 months in advance so I'm hoping thats true so Ic an start looking forward to it!!

I know its going to be warm but i'm planning on a bis fairytale dress!! coming from the UK its going to be a nightmare getting it there but you only get married once and I want the works!!

hi!

i am a UK bride too! i have been engaged since new year and the time has flown by~!

i though it would take forever for my wedding day to come round, however, i am only 6 months away now so things are starting to move a bit too fast!

whereabouts are you? i bet you will have a lot of the same questions that I have had. we were pretty sure we wanted a disney wedding but we did a really quick site visit (fri-mon) in march to see the ceremony sites to make sure. we loved it, everything else we looked at just didn't even come close.

if you would like to private message me, please feel free, just click on my name on the left hand side of the post.i have asked disney A LOT of questions, i think a lot of them would be quite relevant to you.

i was so happy when i found this site, it answered so many questions. i found it most helpful in the lead up to getting my date. this is the hardest thing when planning a disney wedding, even harder when you are booking from the UK because you cannot be added to the official calendar until 12 months in advance. then,. depending on which location you choose, most of them, you cannot be officially booked until 8 months before which when you are planning from the Uk and have to book flights for you and your guess, it can be an absolute nightmare!!

in the end, for peace of mind, i chose the yacht club gazebo and ariels for reception becuase this can be booked at 12 months before so we were then able to book our flights etc without worrying.

as i said please feel free to ask me any questions x x

good luck planning

Congrats on your upcoming Wedding!

I too am a UK bride and I'm sure you'll find lots of help on here from everyone :thumbsup2

I am slightly different in that it looks like their will only be my fiance and I at the Wedding and we are having a formal reception when we get back. Still I have asked loads of questions and read loads of posts, so if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I am getting married at Sea Breeze Point and possibly having my Wedding meal at Victoria and Alberts, I have sent off my contract and am just waiting on my planning kit to come through.

It is extremely hard to plan from the UK, but not impossible. The downer is you don't get to visit the Wedding sites until you arrive (unless you can afford to go over prior to your Wedding, I can't :sad2: ) Other than that, the internet is wonderful :lovestruc and you can find out nearly anything you want on here! There are plenty of photos of locations, menus for restaurants, trust me you can find everything on here.

So don't worry we will all help as much as possible.

I married last Thursday at the wedding pavillion and it was an amazing place, the one thing we made sure of was that we booked our holiday for the full 2 weeks, so if any of our choices were un available for any reason, we could try another day, there were 14 of us in total made the trip, pavillion looked a little bare with that amount of people in it, but no big deal,
I'm the groom by the way, feel free to ask any questions, and i'll ask the wife for the answer!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey im a UK bride too!!! There are quite a few of us on here now!!

I originally started out as an intimate but ended up with more that 18 people wanting to join us (remember the 18 includes kids aswell!) so we opted for the custom! which has worked out great because ive added a illuminations dessert party etc.

Im glad i did as ive added sooooo much to my package! I have found DFTW so easy to plan with (but that may be because im a custom and not an intimate as i know other UK brides have found it more difficult!)

Like the otehrs have said feel free to PM with any questions you have!!

Hello and Congratulations!

Ours is slightly different in that we are rewing our vows, and there's not many of us so the obvious choice was an Intimate package. We've booked our holiday and wedding thru' Virgin, as the cost is good as they also include the officiant. You still get the cake, flowers, music choices and you can also add on any extra's (we're having Mickey & Minnie and also Cinderella's glass coach). I think it's pretty easy to arrange everything from the UK. We had a look around the WP last time we were there (Dec 2002) as we pretty much knew what we wanted already, and I sent for the brochures and DVD. Using the Disneyweddings site and here pretty much gives you most things you need to know. The main thing for me, was asking on here tho' as you get such good, honest advice.
Good luck in your planning!

Welcome!!!!
We booked all of our holiday through First Choice and our wedding. The wedding department aren't that hot but as soon as they booked our wedding we started dealing with our Disney wedding co-ordinator.
We are having an intimate at the wedding pavillion with 12 guests & have booked tables in Cinderellas Castle for an evening meal.
The only downside I have found being in the UK is that you cant see/touch/smell/taste anything that you are choosing. Thats why I love this site as it has really helped with our decisions.
I have some flower, cake & vow sheets if you need some ideas. I'm only a pm away pixiedust:

:hmghost: :maleficen
:welcome:
