Trying to pick the perfect honeymoon hotel :)

I'm going to disagree with the majority.

First, let me say that I love the Grand and if you can't afford the option I'm going to list as my #1, then I would definitely agree with that choice.

But if you can swing it, stay in the Fairytale suite at DLH!! It is an amazing place for a honeymoon, and has a fabulous view from 2 sides.

Guests enter the Fairy Tale Suite delighted by pixie dust and the appearance of Tinker Bell, who illuminates a crystal castle encased in the wall. A marble foyer descends into an enormous bedroom overlooking the entire resort through floor-to-ceiling windows.

The sage and champagne colors used throughout the suite elegantly blend the combination of blonde and glass furniture. The suite’s centerpiece is an exquisite canopy bed overlooking the corner view. The room is finished with crown moulding, automatic drapes and a custom-designed dresser, from which a flat-panel television ascends at the touch of a button.

The focal point in the suite’s bathroom is a beautiful hand-cut mosaic of a stylized Sleeping Beauty Castle. The mirror disguises a TV and the double vanity countertop twinkles with shooting stars. Domes and Corinthian columns mix thematically with an abundance of modern amenities, including a steam shower and Jacuzzi tub with chromo-therapy.

Oh my goodness! (falls to the floor in a faint!) Isn't that the most beautiful hotel room ever? Gorgeous! I would LOVE to stay there one day.

I am one of those Disneyland Hotel lovers. The only time I didn't love it was renovation time, but that seems to be pretty well wrapped up now. I even liked it when it was old school blonde wood furniture with the map of disneyland on the cabinet! Now that it has been renovated, it is even better. I find it more comfortable and roomy compared to the Grand Californian. I love the high tower views and extra space.

I can't imagine staying in that princess suite, though. Has anyone here stayed there? I would love to hear about it. If anyone on the DIS ever has the chance to stay there, you need to take lots of pics and videos and share with us!

Isn't it AMAZING?? I've not stayed there. I toyed with the idea of renting it for 1 night for my birthday, which is the lowest rate it ever has (Jan.) but at $700/night I just couldn't do it--not for a plain old birthday. But for a suite at DLR it's not that bad. We were quoted a lot more than that for a suite at GCH. The FT suite is not huge...I believe it's 700 sq ft...but so cool.

And I agree! I love DLH. I didn't like the renovation time and switched over to GCH, I think maybe after reading your posts, Lisa. I loved the old 'fairytale' look with the big 4-posters and Mickey hand lamps. I like the size of the rooms. The only thing I don't like is the one tower that is now Frontierland, I believe. It used to be Bonita and then Wonder. I just don't like staying in that tower.

Yes--the Bonita tower (or whatever it is called now--it will always be Bonita to me!) is so far over. We always request Dreams Tower (Adventure)--but don't always get it because everyone seems to want it!

I like that you can walk in the side door near downtown disney, and the views from there.

I haven't been to the Disneyland Hotel since last April--but I think we will go again this summer. We have to check out all the new restaurants and the pools.

My DH and I will be stayed in the Fantasy suite in oct when we go back for halloween. Trust me I will take tons of pics.

We just got back from our DLH wedding/family trip over chirstmas and had the three bedroom suite in the Frontier tower, and lol I know everyone prefers the Adventure tower, but I am now a Frontier lover. Simply because if you are staying in the suites you get the end rooms with side views and balconys. Our view in my opinion was just a good as you get in the Adventure tower, plus you have those balconys to sit and watch fireworks from etc. Granted I may not have liked it quite as much had we had all views on the far side, however, really, the hotel is just stunning now in my opinion. The GCH is nice, but being from Canada and having stayed in many hotel that look and are stayed like the GCH in Banff, Jasper and in B.C. (we are less then three hours from the Canadian Rockies) for us, it just was well, okay, but been there done that kinda thing. (hope I do not upset anyone with that comment at all, just a preferance)

Now, that is just my opinion, but gosh darn it, I love DLH and would not stay anywhere else period.:goodvibes

We stayed at the GCH in Nov. 2002 for our Honeymoon and it was perfect! Close to everything yet it felt quiet and relaxing at the same time.

I have stayed at all three onsite hotels and the GCH is still my favorite, probably because of that perfect trip!

10 years ago we honeymooned at the DLH. Nice. Nothing special though. This year on our 10 yr. we stayed concierge PPH. Loved it. Better room, better view. I've never stayed GCH so I can't really say. Sometimes the upgrade in a 'lower' hotel is better than the standard in another. For the same cost, I'd do the upgrade.

Thank you for all of the advice and opinions! I'll talk it over with DF. Just for the record, when I said "it has to be the best" I was just joking really (hence the ":rotfl:") haha. The best hotel we've ever stayed at was Fairfield Inn so it doesn't have to be much more great than that. I'm not picky or anything, I know that we are going to have the time of our lives! I think at this point, we would rather save money and use it for nicer dinners and activities, like we are planning on going to the beach, doing some tours, and a catalina island tour, and of course Blue Bayou and the other nice DLR restaurants. That is what is going to stick out to me, we like to be out exploring and doing things so I think the cheaper of the hotels (DLH or PPH) would probably be a better idea. By the way, do you get any sort of theme park view at DLH? I think having a view of Disneyland would be awesome!

And wow, that Fairytale Suite is amazing!!! I would love to stay there! I think if we win the lottery sometime between now and then, I think I know where we're staying! ;)

Yeah that is what I was kind of thinking as well, but wanted to see what other's thought. I think my DF is pretty hooked on the idea of a concierge level room, with theme park view. I am still considering GCH just because of it's location though. Can't wait for our "research" trip!

Hey! Well we have decided to go to Disneyland for our honeymoon instead of going to Disneyworld. We both agreed that we could do more with our money and have more of a relaxing vacation going there, since there are so many things we don't "need" to do because we've been there before. I felt overwhelmed with DW planning and felt like it was going to feel too rushed. We'll go back one day when the stakes aren't so high as this is our HONEYMOON!!! It's gotta be the best! :rotfl:

Anyway, now we are trying to decide which onsite hotel to pick. They are all so great in their own way and I am sure there's so much about them that I don't know. We are planning on going there for "research" as soon as we can but I'd like to get a head start! :yay:

I want to know what YOU would pick out of the 3 and why? Money isn't too much of an issue so that is not the deciding factor for us, I want to consider every hotel and make a decision based off certain perks or down sides or something. Thinking this is the right place to ask as I am sure many of you have stayed at one if not all 3 of them! I feel like to you guys the obvious one would be GCH because it's for a special occasion, but I'll just say now that I don't think we'll stay onsite any more often after the wedding than we do now(which is never:laughing:), so really any of the 3 would be a special event to us.

If money were no object, I would go for the Grand Californian--or rent points from somebody on the DVC board for the villas there. It is the most beautiful hotel in the area.

Problem now is my wife is hooked on concierge level and wont settle on anything else. But she deserves it IMHO.

GCH. Why? It's amazing and in my opinion honeymoon worthy. It's a beautiful resort with a spa. The Hearthstone Lounge is fabulous for after parks drink. The location can't be beat. It's the most luxurious option by far. you've got the Napa Rose which of course you can dine at anyway. I don't think the DLH or PPH say honeymoon to me. I agree with a PP who suggested renting points and getting a villa. :cloud9:
