Trying to make it to Rocky Mount NC

We have driven many times, but my DH wants to try a new plan.* So in Oct. we are thinking of leaving on a Friday evening around 6.( we are central Jersey) Hoping that would let us get thru any Friday evening work traffic around beltway etc. But I googled and seen it to be around 7 hrs. Not bad it we smooth sail. Land at room around 1 ish. Dont want much later than that if can help it.

Any advice on when we should leave Jersey to avoid trafffic. If earlier yay or nay? Also any suggetstions on hotels off 95 areas in VA southern most part, incase to tired or traffic slowed us down to make it to NC.

A Friday night at 6 in October is good. You'll avoid all of the rush hour traffic and the only potential problems on the road could be construction or accidents. You should be good. Rocky Mount is a great area for stopping over night. There are quite a few decent hotels in that area. I suggest you check out the listings at TripAdvisor.com.
