DD went on it when she was about 10 with her Grandparents, she is 14 now but still says it was very scarry when the Headless Horseman rode up on them. She was seated at the back of the wagon and felt like the horse was practically in her lap:scared1: . She can't remember much more about it though, sorry.

I did it last year, and while excellent, it may be a bit scary for smaller children. Only parents will really kno what thier kids can handle. Scared kids may want to sit away from the back of the wagon, and as close to the front as possible. I'll give a brief description of the ride:

SPOILERS BELOW ... BEWARE

You start out loading the wagon, and the CM sets out like a standard nightime wagon ride. After a few minutes, you come across a creepy old man on a dark road who hops aboard the wagon. You're basically transported back to Sleepy Hollow, and the story teller begins to tell the story of the Headless Horseman. As you're riding, you'll come across Ichabod on horseback (a live CM) who'll interact with the wagon and explain his situation. As you continue the ride through the dark woods, you'll come across foggy paths and a shack in the distance with red lights (ie. the home of the headless horseman). You'll come across the remnants of poor Ichabod, and at this point, you'll see the headless horseman in the distance out the back of the wagon. You have to make a break for the edge of the woods while the horseman chases you down. This is where the ride gets great ... The wagon gets rolling pretty good with the horseman in chase. The horseman and his horse will practically get up in the back of the wagon as well as racing along the sides very close. Of course in the end, you make a safe escape :cool1:

I believe there's a night shot video on YouTube if you check. I'd highly recommend the ride, but also realize that it can get intense (but that's what makes it so fun)

Other than the Coleman lantern the Old Man/Storyteller was carrying when we did ride a few years ago it was pretty convincing. (I'm sure that part has been fixed by now). Even as a grown up, the getaway with the HH on the black horse galloping behind our wagon as we "outrun" him was pretty intense but special.:scared1:

It's a nice touch and I would recommend it. You can make ressies with a CM who stands all day long outside Pioneer Hall under the Wagon Ride sign (most people try to walk up and ride in the evenings but popular times are full). The ressie can be for a different day also not same day.

Enjoy!

Thank you all for the information. I will have to think all of this over. Although the husband thinks we should do it no matter what. We will get a seat in the front if we do go. Thanks again!!!
