Trying to get a quote for a cruise next year

Still weighing it up here!
Which one did you book? 6th august?

:goodvibes

30th July ... 7 night Med cruise

I'm still a little apprehensive about seasickness, (don't travel well on cross channel ferries!) but I'll never know if I don't try!!

Nice!
Still looking at the 20th August for mine so far.

We were the same thinking about sea sickness having felt woozy on the channel ferry, but apart from the last night it was fine.
The real trouble was once we got off, we felt like we were still at sea for the next 4 or 5 days, all wobbly :lmao:

we've just got off the dover to barcelona repositioning cruise a few weeks ago and i must say it was amazing, the incentives onboard to rebook made it very easy to rebook another cruise, that's the only downside to disney cruising it's highly addictive ;)

i'm very sick on channel ferries and have the worst motion sickness but was absolutely fine on this cruise, we did buy the accupressure wristbands for just a few pounds each (just in case) and only needed them once or twice and i think that was more to do with the cocktails drank than the ship swaying too much

have noticed since coming home that iglu cruises are selling the disney med cruises at great prices for next year if anyone is looking to book with a uk agent and wants a price in pounds (so they don't have to worry about the dollar fluctuating) iglu have 27th august for £699 per adult for inside rooms which is a bargain !!!

we're on the 20th august sailing next year and cannot wait, we've even persuaded extra family to come along and join in the fun :cool1:

if i can help anyone who's worried or unsure about a disney med cruise and may have a question that niggling pls ask away i will try to answer, have to say though there's a great cruise section on the dis and people are very friendly over there

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2482390 there's an amazing video trip report here and imo all the persuasion you could ever need ;)

i needed to persuade my other half for the very first cruise and now he's hooked, on the last one it was such a good deal he said he'd sleep in a broom cupboard onboard for the price we'd paid and we ended up getting a great upgrade too :cool1:

These are fantastic video's. i feel really inspired to have a go at my own, and also to book the cruise.

Still looking at cruises but they seem so expensive any tips on getting one cheaper, we want to go in August 2011.

If not we have decided to go back to disneyanyway and would stay at SSR again as we loved it there :)

Which cruise is it your looking at? The one we're looking at, 20th august Med cruise seems pretty reasonably priced, even compared to other cruise lines, when Disney are usually one of the more costly options at sea :)

:goodvibes

we were looking at 3 or 4 night Bahamas cruises Ive just looked and the price is cheaper than last time I looked but still a bit much.

We're doing a Med cruise with P and O next Easter which was £3000 for 14 nights as the kids were free, comparing it to that the short cruises seem expensive, we'll see :)

Try Dreams Unlimited, at the very least you get better shipboard credit booking with them ($125 instead of the $25 you get booking through Disney).

Disney cruises will pretty much always be more expensive than something Like P&O, best comparing them with companies like Royal Caribbean :)

Usually booking as soon as they release is the best way to get a good price, if they reduce the price you can get the lower price upto about 10 weeks from cruising.
Ours for next August we paid $1,698 (3 of us for 4 nights) our catagory has now sold out, cheaper cabin they want $1,846, about a 20-25% increase on prices from when they were 1st released.
Only way to gain a few $'s is use an agent like DreamsunlimitedTravel.com same price as Disney but you get an additional onboard credit. Nowhere should be cheaper than direct as they have a fixed pricing system.
Once you have been on one then you can book another while onboard at a discount & get OB credit, something we should have done onboard last year but wasn't expecting to cruise again so soon.

I can't decide what to do.

Europe cruise in an 11C works out at £685 for each of us for 7 nights. Flights from LBA to Barcelona are around 560.00 for the three of us.

Florida flights you can say will be £2400.00 (assuming there are no bargins to be had plus 1 week SSR say 800.00 and then the 4 night cruise 1390.00 in a 9B, there was a cheaper 11c this morning, but its gone again. It does keep coming back periodically.
Add on park tickets and a car plus 3 nights accomodation before cruise and its getting expensive, nearly 6000.00 in total.

I guess I've just persured myself to book Europe. I'll go and look at the trips and see how much they are.

Or I could go with Thomas Cook stay off site for around 3300.00 plus car and park tickets, but then I would miss that lovely fine dining.

Wow those prices for the flights to BCN are expensive!
I'm banking on booking easy jet flights as soon as they're announced and looking for about £120 between the two of us!!

Only jet2 go from LBA. I don't want to drive to manchester, as then there would be parking and petrol, plus, I don't fancy easyjet or that orange one, as you have to pay lots of extras for bags and seats etc. I prefer the old fashioned all in, even if it is more expensive. LBA is only 20 mins down the road.

Ah I see!
I'm hoping to get a friend of mine who's a pilot for Easyjet to get us cheap(er) flights, dead easy from LPL which is lucky.

Looking at the 13th now with a night in Barcelona either side :)

I'm pretty sure you have to pay for baggage on Jet2, and I think it's more expensive than Easyjet...

:goodvibes

i've discovered even Monarch are charging for bags ... so whoever I manage to book with will be extra for bags.

Monarch is coming out at £278 for the two of us for the 30th July cruise so I'm hanging fire for easyjet ... Liverpool is closer too us to which is a bonus

If you get easyjet asap it should be pretty cheap.
Really hoping we are booked by the end of this week :)
