I am trying to figure out what I should do on my upcoming trip. My ds and I go every year to orlando and spend 4 days at park, 2 days at water park. I don't know if I should buy package or buy room and tickets separate. Here are my prices.

1. buy a package from aaa: 7 night at pop century with 10 day ticket (hop, plus and no exp) for 1459.06. In this AAA will give me $25 and you get the diamond card, diamond parking card and one free soda at mk.

2. the same as above except 7 day ticket for $1355.97.

3. I can get a AAA rate for 7 nights at pop century for 656 and from ticketmania get a 10 day ticket (hop, plus, no exp) for 758 which would bring the total to 1414.

4. same as #3 except 7 day ticket for 646 which would bring the total to 1302.

I know buying separately it is cheaper but I have never bought from ticketmania (don't know if very reputable, etc.). Also I am still hoping that a code for room only might come out in July. Please let me know what you would do in my situation. My ds is only 13 and is no help in the decision. Thank you for any help you can give me if you were in my place.

I would go with #4 because:
You really only need the 7 day ticket, since you're doing 4 days of theme parks and 2 days of water parks, you'll have days left over with the no expiration option. My family has bought from Ticketmania several times. They are very reputable and have never had any problems at all with the tickets.

The AAA package gives you the diamond card for parking, which you won't need because you can use Disney transportation, plus you get free parking at the parks if you are a resort guest. From what I understand, the free soda isn't very large, and in the grand scheme of things, is 1 soda going to make that much difference? Also, I would book room only myself and ask the cm to apply the AAA rate. The reason is this: if you let your AAA agent book for you, you have no access to your reservation. They have to call and make changes, additions or whatever, you can't do it. So, if discount codes come out later on, you can't apply them yourself, and I doubt if the AAA agent would either, since they want you to use their service. Just my opinion!

good point on the book yourself so you can change reservation. I never thought of that. Thanks for that thought.

Glad to help! We did a Magical Gathering in August for a family reunion. Everyone booked their own room except my FiL, who went through AAA. It was such a pain! When we wanted to book our Firworks Voyage, I just called and booked for everyone, except him. His Travel Agent had to do it and was out of town, then she didn't know what I was talking about, it was horrible. I now always tell everyone to book their own, it's just easier then having to wait for someone else, especially when codes come out and time is at a premium!
