Trying to do G+ while waiting for the bus?

In fine-tuning my plans, I keep seeing the same problem. I want us to be at the bus stop by 7am (90m before EE) BUT I should be getting my first G+/ILL/both selections at...exactly 7 am. I can just see myself trying to juggle being on my phone while trying to get on the bus at the same time - yikes!

I 'll probably just get to the stop like 10 m earlier, but that won't stop the bus loading at exactly 7pm. PLUS it's my first time using an ECV. I can have my husband or the bus driver actually get it on the bus but...oh, I feel stressed just thinking about it!

HOW does everyone handle this?

Yeah it can be a stressful few mins., but we do it often. I can't think of any tips to help although many times you'll either already be on the bus or waiting right at 7, but it just depends.

Thanks! It helps to know that it's just the way things are and that there isn't some magical fix that I was unaware of.

There's really nothing to handle. It literally takes 30 seconds to get both a first Genie+ and an ILL. And busses are not siting at stops with timers boarding at exactly 7am. I think you're picturing this in your head very different from the way this plays out in reality.

You'll be fine.

Put your DH in charge of getting G+/ILL$ while you board if you have to board the bus right at 7:00. It takes a couple of minutes for the driver to lower the ramp, for you to drive up the ramp, for you to get into place (I ask the bus driver to do it for me, it's faster for me), for the driver to lock your scooter in and seat belt you (I always stay on the scooter to save space for others) and for them to finally put the ramp back up. Only then, will the rest of your family get to board. Your DH will only be distracted from the phone for the couple of seconds it takes him to walk up the back stairs.

We found that the buses often pulled in to park at the parks right on 7am, which was a nightmare for me as I was relying on WDW WiFi and it would switch from transportation WiFi to park WiFi. On two occasions the bus driver left his engine running so the the transportation WiFi didn’t cut out and we could all hit buttons exactly at 7am.

I just did this. We checked out of our hotel just before 7 because we were switching resorts, but heading to Epcot for the day. My daughter and I both disabled wifi on our phones and tag teamed a virtual queue and ILL for Guardians. We ended up boarding and getting seat before 7:00am, so we got both while in route to Epcot. It worked out just fine.

from my experience, Guardians VQ and G+ for Slinky Dog and maybe Jungle Cruise are really the only things you should stress out about hitting right at 7:00:00. ILLS should still be there at 7:05.

... and if the OP is in a scooter she doesn't need to worry about Jungle Cruise. The queue cannot handle a scooter so she'll be able to go to the ride and get a return time on her MB (along with the rest of the family). If she's somewhat mobile she can walk about 30-40 feet to the front of the boarding area. If she's not, she can board first at the exit.

Thanks for all of the encouragement!!

I've been many times and always took the buses, even once with a wheelchair that we just folded up, but somehow thinking about both 7am G+ and the ECV had me rattled. I feel more calm now lol. Also, our dates are 12/5-12/16, so not Christmas/New Years crowded.

@robinb - I didn't know that about the JC! So much new stuff to learn with the ECV.

Some of the queues for the older MK rides are not scooter accessable.

The same thing goes for Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. At SM you'll get a return time and enter through the LL queue. You can borrow a wheelchair if you need it. At BTMR you get a return time and then go in through the exit. Splash Mountain has a scooter friendly queue until it goes up the stairs. They'll pull you aside into a handicapped line and you'll enter through the exit. There is also a special accessable line at Small World. At Pirates and Peter Pan you'll go through the regular line (stand-by or LL if you have G+) but you'll need to borrow a wheelchair. Haunted Mansion has been handled a couple of different ways. Once I went through the exit and another time they took my scooter from me before the stretching room.

The other parks are very accessible with a couple of notable differences. In Epcot, Spaceship Earth has a special accessable entrance near the exit inside. They'll slow the ride down for you to get into the car. in DHS, at Star Wars Rise they want to take your scooter away while you're in the (avoiding spoilers here) "Big Room". I was OK with that but there is still quite a bit walking and standing around left before you actually get on the ride. They say it's a "short distance" but it's not. Resist (ha, ha!) until you get to where they assign you groups if you can't walk a medium distance.

You will be fine. I think you are stressing out over something that you will be able to easily manage. Enjoy your vacation, try not to stress about LL's.

It is not that hard at all. you are overthinking either how much effort it is to wait in line at a bus stop, or how hard it is to work G+

most of the time, we do G+ work in the room, THEN leave for the bus at 7:05am. But I have also been sitting on the bus and doing G+ on the way to AK. It is not that hard.

My favorite was the time that they let us start moving through security at MK right at 7am. They kept telling people to keep moving, and people kept tripping over the people in front of them, because a lot of them were on their phones.
