Trying to decide whether to go or not, spur of moment trip

We just got back from ten days at WDW less than two weeks ago. It was a fabulous trip with lots of magic and we left with annual passes in our pockets knowing we will be going back. We just didn't know when.

Dh came home yesterday saying he'll have four days off for Veteran's Day next month. Our kids will have only 3 days out of school. Our thoughts are that we can drive down (6.5 hours) at the end of the school day on that Thurs. Spend Fri and Sat in the parks, and a few hours Sun morning before coming home and then back to school/work on Monday.

The problems?

1. Budget-wise we need something at a value resort and there is nothing to be had on property. We don't HATE the idea of going off property, just don't know what is clean and reasonable and close to WDW and what is not. We've always stayed on property before.

2. DD9 had a science event that she wanted to attend that weekend, nothing major, just something that would get her some extra credit at school. She's fine academically without the extra credit, just really wanted to attend this thing, even though it only lasts an hour or so. We wouldn't be home in time to attend it on Sunday early afternoon.

3. This timeframe puts us smack dab in the middle of Jersey Week and a holiday weekend. It'll be crazy busy and I don't deal with huge crowds well, though we won't need to see or do it all since we just got back from that kind of a trip.

However, in favor of us going...
1. Veteran's Day is my birthday and it would be a nice treat to spend it in WDW.

2. DH really wants to go. He's as crazy into WDW as I am.

3. We DO have those annual passes.... :teeth:

So, advise me. What would you do?

I'd go! I'm like you: live 6 hours away and have annual passes, and I want to go as often as possible. I think it's admirable that your daughter desires to do well in school. I think that as long as she doesn't need the extra credit, it wouldn't be wrong to miss the science event.

As far as staying off property, I don't have any advice because I forgot the names of the places we've stayed at before. I don't think you'll have a problem with finding a clean and reasonable place, though. I'm sure most hotels are nice.

And as far as the crowds go, you're right, you don't need to see and do everything this time, so don't worry about it. Just go and enjoy what you can.

:-)

I went for Veteran's Day week several years ago and it was the best I had ever enjoyed the parks. Crowds were lower than when I usually go, weather was excellent and it's Food & Wine @Epcot. I guess you already know I think you should go. Have a great trip!

go go go~you know you want to!

I would make it an offsite adventure and GO!

These are the types of things that make life fun and crazy all at once!

GO GO GO

I think you should go! There's a board for reviews of off-property hotels. Check it out and choose a nice, cheap place to stay. You want to get your money's worth from those APs, right? :yay:
