Trying to decide on Afternoon Tea at GF

I just booked a trip for me and my DD16 in June. Being the complusive planner that I am, I have started making my ADRs also. I'm trying to pick restaurants and events that we've not done before. Do you think the Afternoon Tea is something a 16 year old would enjoy? What type of food is served and how expensive is it? I need your opinions since you guys are the professionals! TIA!

DO IT! I never met a female who didn't enjoy the tea, and even the two gentlemen who went with me one time enjoyed it. Look on allearsnet for the menu - my fav is the buckingham palace - has tea sandwiches, scones & jam AND pastries. So the sandwiches will sound "odd" if you're accustomed to 'ham and cheese', lol, but try them - they're FABULOUS. Once, I didn't fancy the pastries after - and was able to get a little cheese plate substituted.

I suppose it depends on your daughters interests but I find it unlikely she wouldn't like it. My Mom, sister and I have gone out to high tea for many years as children and teenagers. Even if she doesn't like tea most everyone likes cute sandwiches and desserts

The two of you should definitely go. I take my two girls (they are 10 and 8) each time we are in Disney...it has become a tradition for the 3 of us while DH goes off and does his own thing. Even if you or your DD does not like tea, you can order something else like soda, milk, chocolate milk, coffee, or hot chocolate. The Buckingham Palace package is what I always get and it is really good too

My daughter and I went in 2010 and had an enjoyable time. We went at the first seating of the afternoon as our lunch. The ladies who serve were super nice and attentive. We felt very special as we sipped our tea and ate our sandwiches. Definitely check out the menu - I recall there was different price ranges depending on how much you want to eat. And if they still have the berries and cream - they were delicious!! It was a relaxing break between all the hustle of the parks.

My DD and I go. She will be 17 this year. I can't imagine a trip without it now! We will be dragging Daddy with us again this year...but he didn't seem to mind last year and was just talking about it so he must have enjoyed it!

NOTE1: The "Tea" is in a gracious atmosphere overlooking the
pool and gardens of the Grand Floridian. A relaxing way to put
a civilized break into a hectic park day. The negative for the
true tea aficionado, is they serve only Pekoe (BOP or OP) for
non-green tea. Reservations are almost a must.

NOTE2: Prices were increased in July 2011 and the Sally Lunn
was discontinued. This makes the eatery overpriced compared
to other Afternoon Teas in the area. Even the Ritz is cheaper.
