Here are the details-
We'll be in Riverside visiting relative for two weeks from the end of Feb to the beginning of March. We will be going to Disney for 3-4 days in the middle of the stay to give everyone a break. Also, relatives will be working during the week, so we need to find our own things to do.

DH gets free media passes to many places, and Legoland is one of them.

However, I've been told it may not even be worth our time to go there. I really know nothing about it.

We have a 4 yo dd, otherwise I'm sure we wouldn't even consider goin.

In similar circumstances, would you go? What is outstanding about Legoland?

Thanks for you input!

If you have passes, I'd say go. Miniland itself is worth a trip, just to see the awesome things that have been built with Legos. There are many things your daughter will be able to do and ride and she will have a great time. In my opinion, it is definitely worth a visit.

Hi, Kimberlina.

We just got back from a trip to SoCal to visit relatives, Disneyland and we spend a day at LegoLand. My DS is 4 as well and he had a great time. I would definitely recommend it.

Thanks for the opinions. I'll have to work on DH and see if I can talk him into it.

If you do much looking at LL posts on the board..you will find I am a BIG fan of LL. I have been going regularly as a member since my DD7 was nearly 3. This is likely our last year, DD is getting a bit old for going all of the time and school does interfere,
So, if you can get in for free...do it!!! It is a very fun place for the young kids. Almost all the children are under 11 so parents are much more understanding of the sudden starts and darts of the 4 year old!! Much less hectic than DL. (Don't get me wrong...I LOVE DL). Kind of a restful place. Lots to see and do...lots of places to just sit and play with legos.
During December I had free tickets that I used to take two adults to LL. I would never made them pay for it...but they really enjoyed Miniland and the few rides we went on. So, even adults can enjoy it...once!!! But with a child....it is super.
SO, work on your hubby. I am thinking that 2 weeks with relatives...he will be begging to go!!! Have fun!! AMy

We just got back from LL among many others & I kept reading on some threads that with having a girl & she is 7 that LL is too small for her. Well, that was her favorite park over Sea World & San Diego Zoo. She really enjoyed it & being from Illinois, this is a once in a lifetime trip for us and especially her as a child. So, if you rarely get to Calif - do it, it was cool to see & fun too.

I am wondering if we should go also. We don't have any free passes but DS6 is a lego nut. I will also have 2 girls 12. I don't want them to be bored but the commercial looks cool and like they would enjoy it. But there are so many mixed reviews on this place, I just don't get it. I want to go for sons sake but don't want to spend money for hotel and all other expenses if family is going to be bored.

I have a 10 year old boy to whom legoland is an absolute must. We will be staying at their "onsite" (Okay, across the road) resort for 4 days.

We just came back from our vacation and LL was our last stop. I would say that although it is no Disneyland, LL is cute and has its charms. If you have the free passes and time available, why not check it out? Nothing to lose.

During the two days we were there, I overheard many kids saying "I love LL" and that speaks for itself. There are many different sections in the park and a variety of things the kids can do. My 4-year old DD loved the boat ride, the mini city, the tree house playground and mainly the castle area. There is a face painting stand there and she kept asking us to have a butterfly painting. She love it. She even went on the small dragon roller coaster with her dad. In the Lego Club areas kids and adults sit around and build things together. We enjoyed it.

My husband liked Legoland better than Disneyland, so go figure. We loved Legoland and hope to get 1 more trip in before our son doesn't want to go (he's 13)

Enjoy your trip.

I agree with you. We have been 4 times, the last time my boys were 10 and 8 and they still LOVED it. Now they are 12 and 10 and STILL ask to go, but I think I can probably only get ONE more trip in before the older one isnt into it any more. Whenever we plan our next trip to California and I ask what they want to do they ALWAYS say LEGOLAND first! Its a nice day..cute, clean and mellow park.

One more in support of LL...
My son and I have been going at least once a yr. for the past 5 yrs. When given the choice of DL or LL, he ALWAYS chooses LL. When we first started going, he wasn't a huge Lego fan but the park really offers a great experience for young kids: lots of hands-on stuff and a relaxing environment. You can just have a good time, you don't need to have a plan or schedule. Now that he is older and obsessed with Lego, we still have a great time-- and spend a lot of time in the shops, of course!:thumbsup2

Now I am reallly excited. We are renting a car from DL and driving down on a Thursday at the very end of this month. What is a typical Thurs. in the park like? Also, we are HUGE Lego fans.......do the stores have any specialty sets that you can buy only at the park?

No sets that we have seen, but one of the stores has bulk LEGOs in many colors that I haven't seen in any other store.

Side note: Your LEGO Store loyalty card won't work at LL. LL isn't owned by LEGO. You'll have to go do Downtown DISNEY for that. That just strikes me as funny.

But, as another in support of going, we have annual passes and use them often. My DS(7) could spend hours building and racing the cars!

Last year we picked up some Star Wars sets that wouldn't be released anywhere else for at least another month. We also found a really cool racetrack once that we've never seen anywhere else.

The Big Shop at the front of the park has most of the stuff, but check out the movie themed shop near the pizza restaurant-- that's where they had the new releases of Star Wars, SpongeBob, Harry Potter, etc.
