Trying to decide between POFQ or Contemporary Garden. Thoughts?

That would be too much money for me to switch and I am no fan of POR.

Especially considering that the garden wing is kind of out of the way from the main hotel. It's a bit of a walk to the monorail, and a considerably longer walk to MK. Not crazy long, but probably not worth $1400 extra in my mind. Many people love POR, despite the fact that it relies on busses.

I love the CR, but that's a lot of extra $$ for the garden wing.
The tower is one thing since you're right next to the monorail, but I couldn't justify that price for the garden wing. It doesn't feel like its even part of the Contemporary to me.
POFQ is a great resort. Very compact, and we've had great bus service the times we've stayed there.

The garden wing at CR has no appeal for me. My family has stayed at POFQ x2 and they loved it!

I would save your money and book FQ.

I'm actually a fan of the garden wing.... so I will give you a different perspective. Take what you like

I really enjoy the first floor of the garden wings and sitting outside in the evening. After my daughter goes to sleep, my husband and I usually sit out there. Its really peaceful.

Personally, I hate noisy rooms. I am such a light sleeper - so I am not a fan of the moderates outside doors. And I find the tower rooms at the Contemporary really noisy.

The nice thing about staying at the Contemporary is how easy it is to get to a number of different restaurants that are not too chaotic. I love the restaurants at Disney Springs but I can usually only manage one time per trip bc I hate the crowd control at Disney Springs.

If you have really little kids and are planning on spending a lot of time at MK, the walk back from the parks is so convenient. Also, kids really seem to love this resort.

The QS at the Contemporary is very good.

I'm not sure if these 'pluses' are worth $200 a night. I really only stay at Deluxes. I've had bad experiences at the moderates - only you can decide whats really important to you in a vacation.

Seconded! Never felt like we were that far from transportation in the garden wing and the ability to walk to MK makes it soooo worth it.

It depends, the CR rooms are a lot larger than moderate rooms. And have 2 queens plus sofa/daybed. Don’t know how many or the ages of who will be in your room, but say it’s 2 adults and 2 teens I’d definitely go with a larger room. If you have 2 young ones you will be fine at pofq. Although the ability to walk home from MK while everyone else is queuing up for bus or monorail is really nice. And you can watch MK fireworks from CR and The Electric Water Parade.

Just to throw a wrench into your planning - what about renting at BLT? Sort of in between in terms of price, plus it's closer to transportation than the Garden Wing is.

Check out David's DVC rentals.
The downside of renting is that you are locked into the reservation. There is also no housekeeping. I was in a similar enough situation as yours last year though and ended up renting a studio at BLT. Loved it so much I bought into DVC just a couple weeks after my trip.

Also, the studios at BLT are tight. About 100 square feet less than a deluxe room, more similar to a moderate one. They have a really nice kitchenette and balcony, though. Just some food for thought, but I think you would also be perfectly happy with either of your other location preferences.

I second looking into renting points. Have you priced Wilderness Lodge? It’s a short boat ride from Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary.

I agree, I would look at Wilderness Lodge too. Such a great resort and the bus ride to MK or the boat is fabulous

Thanks for all replies. So I decided for about the same money as the garden cont. I can rent a one bedroom park view at BLT. Submitted my request guess now I will wait! Never rented points before so nervous.

Wow. I'm surprised that you were able to get such nice accommodations for around the same cost as a single hotel room. Theme Park view rooms are limited, but if those are all taken, there are tons of Lake View rooms that are frequently available, as long as you are booking close to 7 months out.
