Trying to decide about the Photopass????? Help!!!!

Can anyone give me any links for costs of pictures? Say that we only like a few pictures, but really want to buy them? I know the costs for the CD, but that's just a lot to have to pay in addition to printing costs.

The pics range in price from $15-20 per sheet. Each sheet contains the same pic, so if you have 5 pictures that you really like that will cost you $100 which is the price of the photopass cd. And honestly if you use good use of the photopass photographers I'm sure you will find many more than 5 photos that you like.

The best deal right now for the photopass cd is to prepurchase it in one of the parks then order it online using the redemption code that will be provided. For 149.95(+ tax) you get shipping included and you get the Photo Gallery CD as well. Plus by editing your memories online you can 4x your image count. Not sure how long this promo will run though.
Please take a photo of the back of your photopass card so that if it is lost your photos can easily and quickly be found and put onto another card for you.

We used the photopass two years ago and loved it. I approached every photographer we could find. I got a lot of great shots. My favorite are from the waterparks. I've never had pics from there before.

If you are also looking to get the Photo Gallery CD then yes the $149.95 price is good, but if you just want the pics that have been taken by the photopass people then you can get that for a pre-order price of $99.95 online through the Photo Pass website but you have to use the special link that a PP posted in this thread. If this is something you want to take advantage of there is no indication as to how long the special price will be offered so I'd say buy it at that price while you can. I know when I went last year the day I went to purchase it they had actually stopped the special price the day before :headache:. This year I got lucky and was able to get the special price.

I did it the last time I went in May. We didn't run into the photographers as much as we had hoped. But with discounts, I do feel it was worth it.

The new maps coming out in January are supposed to have the Photopass locations marked on them. This will be helpful.

I just did it in Aug/Sept and I have to say there don't seem to be as many photo people as I remember from years past (I ususally tended to avoid them). I also noticed that they don't approach you anymore like they used to, you know have to approach them. This was my first time getting the CD and I definitely thought it was worth the $99.95, honestly because of my DD2's first haircut, my DB8's first trip and just the really good pics that got taken I think I would have ponied up the $149.95 this time around.

They are not supposed to approach us about photopass. All you will probly hear is a greeting such as hello or good morning. As the day goes by there are less of them out there, but some locations are manned open to close.

Exactly, but they used to approach you and ask if you wanted your pic taken. I remember constantly getting bombarded every time I entered a park and realized this year that they don't do that anymore.

hi! I'm a little confused and I tried to find the answer on the DIS and on other sites, but can't seem to find the answer. :rolleyes1

Do you have 30 days AFTER your trip to load the pictures onto your account before they expire and then 30 days to edit them? Or do the pictures expire 30 days from when they were taken, regardless of when they were uploaded? :confused3

So say I go April 30, do I have until May 29th to upload and then get 30 days to edit or must everything be done by May 29th in order to not lose any photos? I know it seems like a silly question, but I've had 3 different people read the same pages and no one can agree. :rotfl2: Now I'm even more confused.

Could you please help me clear this up? THANK YOU!! :worship::worship:

This is what the Photo Pass website says:
Disney's PhotoPass Photos
Photos linked to a Disney's PhotoPass ID will be available online by the morning after the photos were taken. Guests must claim photos within 30 days from when the photos were taken. Photos not claimed within 30 days from which they were taken will no longer be available. Once photos are claimed and associated to a DisneyPhotoPass.com account, they will be available for viewing, sharing and purchasing for 30 days from the date they were claimed, after which the photos will no longer be available.
Note: “claiming” means either adding a new Disney’s PhotoPass I.D. number to your account or logging in to your account after new photos have been added to a Disney’s PhotoPass I.D. number which was already associated with your account.
You can also now pay to have your photos extended for 7 days for $4.95 or 15 days for $9.95.

Hope this helps. To sum it up you have 30 days to go in and add your photopasses and then 30 days from that date to make your edits and order them.

Yes tigger's explanation is exactly right (obviously!) - you get a MAXIMUM of 60 days to do your "stuff", but you have to claim them by the 30 day mark.

If you claim them the day after your first photo is taken, then you will only have 31 days to finish it all up, if you wait until the 30th day, then you would end up with 60 days.

That was when Kodak was in the parks. Every photographer you see now is a Disney Cast Member and not a 3rd party vendor (like the balloons). A photographer may greet you, may ask you if you need help, may ask to take a picture with your camera. They are not supposed to ask you "Can I take your picture?" Although they may ask you "Do you know about the photopass service?"

Each position that a photographer is shooting from can be a "green" or "yellow" location. Green means, that position must be up at all times. Yellow means, if they're short staffed, that position may come down. As the department gets bigger, more yellows are turned into green, and more yellows are created.

Now there are certain positions that are green in the morning, but come down after the parade. Like the first three spots along Main St (Confectionery, Cinema, and Market House). And again, there's usually spots that go up in the evenings and not always during the day. Like Fantasy Land bridge (back by Cosmic Rays). Places like Castle Hub, next to Walt and Mickey will be up from 8am till park closing.

If you see a photographer wondering around Adventureland, by the tikis that squirt water. This photographer is taking pictures of Aladdin and Jasmine, but they're not out at that moment. So the photographer is filling in some time. It's a rare moment to just grab a shot of the kids playing.

If it's pouring down rain. Green location photographers will move to a rain location. Yellow location photographers will move indoors to take "fun" shots or be sent to the view stations. So you'll often times see an overload of photographers willing to show you pictures. At the same time, many people go into the shops to seek shelter, and bypass the time viewing their photos.
Castle Hub photographers will move to Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace, Casey's corner will stand under the roof by the baseball player statue. Both will continue to take photos of the castle. But most the main street photographers (wearing knickers) will move indoors. Pooh characters are sent to Expo Hall, so photographers in knickers are needed for that (their normal photographers are toontown based). Some one is sometimes sent to the Barber Shop to take pictures in there.

It's all about knowing where to look and when to look. 90% of the time, you will find a photographer with a character. Although not all characters have high enough priority to warrant a photographer with their presence. And sometimes, because of stupid rules, they can not take a picture with a certain character. Like for a while, we weren't allowed to take pictures of Buzz at the COP because he didn't have a "Pixar approved background", but you'll always find a photographer at Toy Story Mania, because that is approved. Sometimes there's clauses and royalties for taking pictures with certain characters. I think Mary Poppins is one of those.

So that's how you find a photographer.

Sounds like gwishmael is a fellow photopass photographer. Welcome to the boards. I've seen a few other photographers come and go around here, but none of them stick around too long.
