We have been to Disney twice now and we really want out best friends to go with us. They just can't see spending the money on it.

I need help convincing them. Any help would be appreciated! Pics too!

I would start at looking what kind of vacations the both of you have been on and how much was spent on the vacations. From there, I would try to justify cost, if that is an issue, with them. Let them know that there are more than "kiddie rides". There is shopping, dining, shows.

If that doesn't work, would adult-napping be appropriate? :confused3 Only kidding.

I would suggest not bothering i.e. giving up.

Or, would you subsidize them? For example you book the room and they are just extra adults? If you are driving, take your car and don't charge them anything for the transportation. Meanwhile they have equal say in what you guys do.

MBA needed to understand this sentence: You buy the entire nut and they buy their proportionate share of the gravy.

I would just show them pictures you have taken, get them on the site and show them menus so they can see the nice meals they can have, show them the hotel amenities. We never thought WDW was for adults until we went the first time "for the kids". Now we go for us and drag the kids!!!:lmao:

Disney is expensive, but not for what you get. If I took my family to Cedar Point for one day, it would be almost $300 for tickets, X amount of dollars for food, $60-80 for gas, X amount for misc. It would easily be over $500 for one day at a park not as well kept up as WDW with a lot of rude employees!

Rather save and have a great WDW vacation. My kids don't even ask to go to Cedar Point anymore. They pointed out the differences themselves.

I don't want to be the negative one here but if they don't want to go, I wouldn't push the issue. My experience is that we went to Vegas with our best friends who are tight with their money(on things they don't want to do). Well, needless to say, it was the worst vacation ever. They didn't want to do anything because they thought it cost too much. DH and I couldn't really enjoy ourselves because we didn't want to leave them behind. Now, when they talk about going on vacation together, we try to change the subject. Never want to do that again. So, if your friends are already complaining about the money, just wait until they get there. Hopefully, you can get them to go and have a great time. I just don't want anybody to experience what we went through.

Its too hard to convince anyone if they already have a bad taste in their mouths. Why ruin your vacation trying to please your friends. You already know how expensive Disney is and don't mind paying the price for all the on site activities, convincing purse tight people to splurge, or getting them there and then them seeing the prices could ruin the whole trip. Best bet, forget the friends, find some who are Disney savy and let the fun begin. We've only taken people who have done the homework and watched the DVD's and know up front what to expect and are willing to still tag along and these occasions have been very enjoyable for us as well as them.

We just convinced our Best Friends to come with us with their 10 year old daughter. Money was also an issue for them. We usually stay on site, but because of the financial issues I checked expedia for deals outside of Disney. We found a 4 bedroom pool home that will accomodate all 8 of us 10 minutes from Disney for just over $1000 for 7 days/6 nights, that is on a golf resort and offers shuttle service. Maybe you could look into something like that and split the cost with them.;)

I would share with them your past experiences but I would be cautious. My son and I went to WDW (CBR) in September 2000 and it was his first trip. We were only there for four days because I took him out of school, which I don't like to do. We had a great time. My friends said that they wanted to go with us so in 2004 we booked POFQ for one week but they "couldn't" go - money was the issue. So then her sister took a cruise and that's all she talked about so we planned together a trip 4day land/3 day sea for 2006. I made the ressies for two rooms in May 2005 and paid their down payment. Well, first the date had to be adjusted, then they wanted to stay at a value (money, again) with an inside cabin on board. Needless to say, my son and I went alone and had a great time and I cancelled their reservation since they never made any additional payments. It was a mess and something I won't do again, or at least not with them.
:sad2:
