We have a reservation at POFQ resort this June. However, one of the members of our party is dissatisfied with our selection of resorts. Could anyone help us out and convince the "party pooper" that POFQ is indeed a great place to stay? Thanks

I agree, we need more information about this person before pointing out what we feel are the great aspects of the resort. Where would they choose to stay given all the options, and why? Why do they feel POFQ is not for them? What are they looking for out of the vacation experience?

The person we are referring to looked at pictures of POFQ and said that the rooms looked "cheesy" and that it looked like a boring hotel. She would have preferred to stay at the Boardwalk which is definitely out of our price range. How does POFQ compare to the other moderate resorts?

What are the reasons why this person does not like the POFQ? If this person is looking for amenities that the POFQ does not offer than they are not going to be happy no matter what they are told.

DH and I stayed at POFQ before the merge with Dixie Landings, so I'm not sure how applicable my comments will be. For reference, we have also stayed at AKL, POP, and the Swan and Dophin. We loved our stay at POFQ. The landscape and theming was beautiful and we enjoyed the boats to downtown Disney and PI. The pool is also very nice and has fun slides. At the time, we preferred it to AKL, but would probably like to try AKL again. The food court was not a far walk and had a great selection. I don't know how it is now. At night, there was a jazz performer in the lounge who was very good. Granted, you do need to travel to obtain the nightlife available at the Boardwalk, but you are not paying the Boardwalk prices and you are extremely close to Pleasure Island! Hope you enjoy your stay!

pofq is a nice moderate resort with a genuine french quarter theme minus the flashers ;) . we like the fountains & gardens, we enjoyed a carriage ride around the grounds on a previous trip, the pool & hot tub is nice in the afternoon & evening, we also like the boat to dtd, very convinient & relaxing ride. scat cats lounge at pofq is also good as is the food court selection & room service.

I have a strong dislike for the whole mardi gras theme. :jester: But I booked POFQ last time since it was "due" and I, too, was worried I wouldn't like it.

But I LOVED it! It's so big-easy/jazzy feeling. Come on, it's Disney, so of course it's always better than you imagine. Just tell the pal to keep an open mind and not worry so much. And don't make it a big deal either b/c this person may get further into the disliking POFQ so much that when you get there, he/she may refuse to actually enjoy it. (More popular among the stubborn crowd)

POFQ is our favorite resort. We've stayed at all AS,Pop,CBR,AKL and Swan/Dolphin.The rooms were clean and comfortable. The grounds were lovely. The food court was clean with a decent variety. The pools were well themed. The water slide was a big hit.The bus service was well done without any sharing with POR.The boat ride to DTD was relaxing. The builings were well laid out.The furthest was a quick walk.It was quiet-both in actual theming and noise level. It wasn't our first choice for our 10/04 trip, but now we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful responses - they will prove to be very helpful! I am hoping that the stubborn member of our party will warm up to POFQ, and hearing your responses, I am sure she will! Please, if you have any more information about POFQ, feel free to share! Thank you again to everyone!!!

It is really easy to get around POFQ. Short walk to everything. First on, first off of the bus. Good foodcourt. Beautiful grounds. What more could you ask for?

I've stayed at all the moderates and really liked POFQ. It's nice that it's a small resort and easy to get around. Is she going to WDW just for the hotel? What's the difference, you're in WDW! :sunny:

Oh no - this person is whining already :sad2: Maybe she should stay at the boardwalk. It might be easier on the rest of you. :rolleyes1

I've stayed at POFQ and loved it but I'm also pretty easy to please. I hope you enjoy this trip.

We stayed at POFQ last May and it has been one of the most favorite resorts for us so far. It was wonderfully themed (not cheesy at all in my opinion) and the size of the resort is so great. My DD loved the pool and we also really enjoyed the food court and the selections. We had rooms that adjoined and were just outside the foodcourt/main building and a close walk to the pool. There were 7 in our party and with a wide range of tastes and preferences and EVERYONE was pleased with this resort. Good luck.

The first time I stayed at POFQ I felt the same way after seeing the pictures. Something about all the wrought iron makes it look dreary, but the actual resort is bright and colorful. It's now my absolute favorite and we stay there more than any other resort.

Give it a fair chance because the pictures don't do it justice!

The deluxe hotels have health clubs, room service, interior corridors restaurants....Not much you can do if that's what she is looking for. PO (not sure which section) has a bar with a piano singer. CSR has a health club if that's what she wants.

What kind of discounts are available at S/D?

Splitting up your group may make the most sense. Someone who wants the added amenities of a deluxe hotel and is willing to pay for them are not going to be happy at a moderate no matter what we say.

Yep, I'm wondering that too. Some people get an idea in their heads and make their minds up that way. It might be easier for you to let her go to the Boardwalk and you can enjoy POFQ.
