We have enough points to do two trips per year and are trying to figure the best combo. Next year we are only going once to catch up on points. But from there on out, we can go twice if we stay in Studios. I would like to keep it the same each year, to get 3 uses out of our AP's.

So option #1 is to go in March and October. One for 4 days and one for a week.

Option #2 is to go in April during the Flower and Garden Festival, and then once in either December or right after Thanksgiving.

I would like option 2, but currently we go to Iowa for Thanksgiving with my inlaws and my hubby doesn't really want to stop that.

Any advice on crowds, holiday themes, etc. is greatly appreciated.

Well I have been in Feb, March, April, May, Oct and Dec. FWIW here is what I find:

Feb: Far too cold to enjoy the pool or walking around. You may get one truly sunny Florida day, usually when you are set to leave.

March: It can either be unseasonably warm or chilly and overcast. For us it was usually overcast. Crowds pick up as this is Spring Break season. In '08 Easter is at the end of the month (23) but back to April 12 in '09. In '11 Easter will be a late April 24.

April: Temperatures heat up to pleasant level. Nights tend to be cool. If Easter falls in this month you'll have two weeks of super crowds, then attendance drops off dramatically. Flower & Garden begins around April 15 and lasts until June.

May: The heat and humidity creep up as the month goes on. Nights can be cool so you may be enjoying desert-like weather (hot while sun shines, cold breeze at night). Early May is still an April pleasant but by mid-month it takes on summer heat. And the love bugs come out in force. Crowds are pretty calm since everyone is done with their Spring Break and is holding off for summer vacation. Biggest threat now are wildfires caused by the Spring draught.

October: Weather resembles May's pleasantness with a bit of residual heat. (The hottest weather is in Sep along with the lowest crowds.) This is the rainy season so it's not unusual to get a hot day interrupted by a 20 minute torrential downpour come parade time. Also you always roll the dice concerning a huricane but the last whammy was near 3-4 years ago. Crowd level in the beginning of the month is tame, but by the 15th on it picks up dramatically. Food & Wine Festival begins in late Sep and lasts through Nov. MNSSHP dates go from late Sep through Halloween. It's a good excuse to dress up, get free candy and see special shows.

Dec: Decorations are at every hotel and park. There are some special things I count on my ToDo List: Osborne Lights, fireworks at EPCOT, Candlelight Processional. I've done the MVMCP twice but I wasn't nearly as impressed as with the MNNSHP. It just doesn't seem special enough since it's really just parade, fireworks and hot cocoa and cookies. I can see the decorations on regular days and get low crowds for the rides on EMH nights. Weather was too chilly for me. Can dip to the 40-50's or you'll get comfortable 70's. Crowds are picking up dramatically in the beginning of the month, especially at DVC. Rooms are hard to come by. In the parks, the crowds pick up most two weeks around Christmas.

We do two trips a year and have settled on April/May and Sep/Oct. We're throwing in a weekender at New Year's this year just to see Osborne. But long gone are our days of Feb/Mar trips. The weather was just too unpredictably cold and crowds too constant. I won't touch summer due to the heat.
