Trying to change reservation and check out a day earlier

Quick question- 10th trip coming up 12/37-1/2. Due to a work obligation on 1/3 and flight availability- have to check out 1/1. In the past have always been able to change online but not letting me this time- says unavailable. Thinking I just have to call, maybe since it’s a holiday week? Does that sound right? I mean taking away a day when we are already staying 5 nights shouldn’t be an issue right?!?

Yes just call Disney and explain the situation. They will adjust it for you.

Its treated as a new reservation if your new dates aren't available as a new reservation the system won't let you just drop a night. Call and Disney will probably let you drop one night.
Disney has some unpublished minimum stay requirements. Disney wants to avoid orphan rooms.

Plan on spending time on the.phone. The CM might need to get authorization.

I don't think it will be an issue but it might not be as simple as posters think

Can you book.a brand new reservation with your new dates? Can you book.a new reservation then cancel existing?

The CM may put you on hold if the CM has to check with guest services, or whatever it's called now.

I don't think there is a specific time, but I don't know if call volume and staffing levels matter.

No poly is sold out for the dates so don’t want to cancel, just have been able to always adjust in the past online but perhaps because it is sold out combined with a holiday week won’t allow me to change. Hopefully they will approve, although I guess an extra night isn’t horrible just a lot of money to only leave in am anyway thanks all and will try later
