I guess this is partly a need to vent but mainly a plea to see if anyone has any suggestions as to what I could do.

We have flights booked for Christmas - DD was going to fly out first (to Ohio) to spend some time with her boyfriend then join us in Orlando. This weekend her boyfriend broke up with her so last night I spent 4 hours on the phone trying to re-arrange things so that she wasn't on her own in the US homeless for 5 days.

Normally I book direct with the airline, but this time the flights were booked much later than I would have liked and the best deals I could get were with ebookers (DDs) and Expedia (ours). I've tried moving her flight to match ours, ours to match hers, played around with dates as long as we arrived first, looked into cancelling and rebooking and the least expensive option involves us paying another £800 !! :scared1: This just isn't possible right now. I literally couldn't sleep last night for worrying.

So I'm wondering if any of the knowledgeable people on here can give me any suggestions. Is there is an option I've overlooked? Thanks so much in advance - and for letting me vent. :furious:

The lowest prices are always with the non-flexible flights, so sadly i'm not surprised. Can't help i'm afraid but WayneG might have some ideas?

Sorry not much help here. If you booked cheapest non-flexible flights you can rarely change them without high fees. You are usually tied to the T&C's of the ticket.
I am itching to book next summer, I could have booked flights a few week back at £400pp but as my Son's Uni study abroad course can't be confirmed til late March I dare not book flights until we know there will be no changes.

Can you book her on to the flight that your on? just as a "new" booking. Still going to cost you but maybe cheaper than "changing" the ticket.

Or just try and book her a flight that happens to arrive at a similar time to you?

Not going to get your money back but may not cost you £800.

Or pray the bf didnt mean it and they will be back together by this weekend :confused3

What a hassle.

Could you book an internal flight for your daughter from ohio to mco on the same day as the original flight then 5 days at a disney resort.

I bet it would still cost less than booking a whole new flight.

Whilst not ideal to be there on her own she would feel safe at disney. She could also use magical express.

Thanks everyone for trying to help! Much appreciated. :goodvibes

Yup, realistically I know this, but was just hoping for a way around it. Clutching at straws and all that!

I looked into that and with it being so close, and so close to Christmas fares are now at least £1000, even with searching and swapping dates. Sadly I think he did mean it. :sad1:

We have discussed this and she's thinking about it, but she's still scared of being there on her own. She was anxious about flying that far but having bf waiting when she arrived made it do-able. She's hurting so much right now I don't want to do anything or ask her to do anything which will make her feel worse.

Probably not much help, but I flew out to florida by myself when I was 19 as I just needed to have a holiday and didn't want to go to Spain with my parents. I had a great time - really was the best holiday I've ever been on!! 4/5 days really isn't that long to spend by yourself, especially with all the entertainment Disney has to offer.
