Trying to book a WDW vacation....

I'll admit it...I'm pretty much a Disney virgin. I went there once on business back in '95 and stayed at the Dolphin (beautiful) but didn't get to see much because I was working.

My head is spinning with all of the options out there and trying to make sure I get a good deal. My main questions are these:

Where is the best place to book the vacation though?

If I book through Disney, and a good deal pops up (like they had free hoppers) can I get that even after a trip is booked? What about if I booked through a travel agent? Same thing, can I get the deal?

We are looking to go the second week in November. From what I am reading, it is not overly crowded there. Is that true? What about the weather, will it be warm enough to swim in the pools?

We have our eye on the Port Orleans French Quarter as an affordable yet nice resort. Any opinions on that?

Any info you can throw out there at me would be great. I feel like once we book the date and the hotel, I'll be less stressed out. I am feeling pretty overwhelmed right now.

We wanted to go last year but with so much to research, couldn't pull it together. We told the kids we were going and now we want to and they are looking forward to it. I've just gotta pull this all together.

Thanks for any insight you might have.

November is a good time to go, the crowds are better, I'm having a hard time finding a time when crowd levels are really slow anymore. November is a good pick though. POFQ is a good resort, I'm not sure how much you know about it. It's a moderate resort at the same price level as POR, CBR, and CSR. All of these are nice resorts. POR is a bigger resort than POFQ, and they have quiet pools, a fishing hole, and a sit down restaurant. The two are very close and share a boat, and busses. Any of the moderates are a good choice. If never booked from a travel agent, I always go through Disney. November is like our fall, there's very nice days, and days when a cold front comes through. A cold day for me, may not mean the same to you, depends where you're from. I don't swim between September, and May, but lots of people do here all year round. Again it depends on you. The pools are heated. Don't worry about planing, it can be fun, and there's lots of people here to answer questions, you'll most likely get more anwers than you want. Here's a link to another helpful site that I use. http://allearsnet.com/index.html
There's pictures of the resorts, menus, special events, attraction information.
